Verify a YouTube Quote
Word for Word, With the Timestamp

A quote is going around and the source is a long video. Search the transcript, open the exact moment, and decide for yourself what was said.

Free plan, no credit card required. Your first transcripts need no signup.

The Problem

Quotes get shortened, paraphrased and taken out of context. Checking one against a two-hour interview by ear is slow, and a summary is not evidence.

The Solution

Get the full transcript, search for the key words, and use the match's timestamp to hear it in the original video. The words around it show the context.

Tools for Checking a Quote

Find Paraphrases Too

Search with "exact phrases", NEAR/5 proximity and wildcards, so a slightly misquoted line still turns up.

Hear It Yourself

Each line's timestamp opens the video on YouTube at that point. Transcripts can contain errors, so the audio is the final check.

Citable Timestamps

Every line has a time that links to that moment on YouTube, ready for your notes or article.

Keep a Record

Download the transcript as Markdown or HTML with clickable timestamp links, or as text, SRT or CSV.

Check a Whole Channel

Collect a channel's transcripts and search them together to see whether, and how often, something was said.

Clip the Evidence

Cut the exact segment in the Clip Builder for fair-use reporting.

How to Verify a Quote

Paste the source video URL into Transcribe

Search for the most distinctive words in the quote

Try NEAR/5 or a wildcard if the exact phrase does not match

Open the match's timestamp and listen to the original audio

Read the lines before and after for context

Cite the timestamped link or clip the moment for your story

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a transcript prove what was said?

A transcript helps you find the moment. Captions and AI transcription can contain errors, so always play the video at that timestamp before you rely on a quote.

What if I do not know which video it came from?

Collect the channel's transcripts into your Library and search them all at once. Each match shows the video and time.

Does it work on videos without captions?

Often. A single-video request can transcribe the audio with Whisper within your plan allowance. Private and members-only videos cannot be transcribed.
