[0:11] Clinton just finished speaking uh at the

[0:14] UN uh council in New Zealand and we want

[0:17] to go now to uh hear the Indonesian

[0:19] ambassador for UN. President

[0:22] although my delegation

[0:24] like many other member state is of the

[0:27] view that today's meeting of the

[0:30] security council would have been more

[0:32] productive had it been convened after

[0:36] the return of its mission from

[0:38] Indonesia.

[0:39] I'll present participation

[0:42] demonstrate yet again the government of

[0:45] Indonesia firm commitment and support to

[0:49] the effort of the United Nations on

[0:51] these issues.

[0:53] Be that as it may, our deliberation are

[0:57] being held to consider the situation and

[0:59] east team following the holding of the

[1:02] popular consultation and subsequent

[1:04] development.

[1:06] Allow me to emphasize

[1:09] that Indonesia was most gratified that

[1:13] the whole process beginning with the

[1:15] various period as called for the 5th May

[1:18] agreement of socialization,

[1:22] registration,

[1:23] campaigning as well as the popular

[1:26] consultation itself took place in

[1:30] atmosphere of calm and tranquility.

[1:34] This safe and peaceful environment has

[1:37] indeed made possible for a massive voter

[1:41] turnout of 98.6%

[1:44] as announced by the secretary general at

[1:47] the meeting of the council on the 3rd of

[1:49] September 1999.

[1:52] This remarkable figure which went beyond

[1:55] expectation was by international

[1:58] standards widely recognized as a

[2:02] successful undertaking.

[2:04] It was only through the strong

[2:06] determination

[2:08] and unstinted eff
