[0:10] in the word and we're getting forward

[0:13] looking forward to wrapping up the end

[0:15] of this series

[0:17] dealing with why we use the king james

[0:19] bible

[0:20] and so today we are talking about an

[0:23] important

[0:23] fact and that is that words

[0:26] mean things and the english language is

[0:29] such a broad language that

[0:31] words have multiple meanings in the

[0:34] original languages that the bible was

[0:36] written in hebrew and aramaic and greek

[0:39] the language there was a little bit more

[0:42] specific on what they were talking about

[0:45] but today i want to share with you some

[0:46] verses the first one is found in

[0:47] revelation chapter 22

[0:50] verses 18 and 19. the bible says this

[0:52] for i testify unto every man

[0:54] that heareth the words of the prophecy

[0:56] of this book if any man shall add unto

[0:58] these things

[0:59] god shall add unto him the plagues that

[1:02] are written in this book

[1:03] if any man shall take away from the

[1:05] words of the prophecy

[1:07] god shall take away his part out of the

[1:09] book of life and out of the holy city

[1:11] and from the things which are written in

[1:13] this book

[1:15] the challenge there is that we are to

[1:17] consider some things in

[1:19] deuteronomy chapter 4 verse number 2 the

[1:21] bible says this ye shall not

[1:23] add unto the word which i command you

[1:26] neither shall you diminish

[1:27] ought from it that you may keep the

[1:29] commandments of the lord your god which

[1:31] i command you that's deuteronomy 4

[1:33] 2. what things soever i command you

[1:36] observe to do it thou

[1:38] shalt not add thereto nor diminish from

[1:41] it deuteronomy 12 32

[1:43] it's very important to remember that

[1:45] when we add or take away from

[1:48] the word of god it changes

[1:52] the meanings it changes the doctrinal

[1:55] truth contained in those things

[1:57] and so we want to talk about that a

[1:59] little bit today

[2:01] one of the complaints i get sometimes

[2:03] from people when it comes to

[2:05] reading the king james bibles they say

[2:07] pastor it is

[2:08] so hard all the these and the vows and

[2:12] the whatsoevers and the wheresoevers and

[2:15] the wither so evers and

[2:16] it's just difficult so i wanted to

[2:20] share some things with you what do the

[2:22] experts say about the readability of

[2:24] the king james bible experts agree dr

[2:28] rudolph flesch is the leading authority

[2:30] he's a researcher and author on

[2:32] readability studies dr flesh is the

[2:34] originator

[2:36] of the famous flesh kincaid readability

[2:38] standard

[2:39] his book why johnny can't read is an

[2:41] eye-opening bestseller

[2:43] in dr flesh's book the art of the plain

[2:46] talk he makes the following noteworthy

[2:48] statement

[2:49] about the king james bible this is what

[2:51] he said

[2:52] the best example of very easy prose

[2:56] about 20 of fixes per 100 words is the

[2:59] king

[3:00] james version of the bible that's in his

[3:02] book the art of the plain talk

[3:04] on page number 43 and so

[3:07] he has put together a scale

[3:10] the flesh kincaid grade level indicator

[3:14] so what he did is he took different

[3:16] versions of the bible

[3:18] and he graded them on a scale

[3:23] and took what they were teaching there

[3:25] the way the words read the

[3:28] the verbage there and gave it a scale of

[3:31] what one would have to be reading

[3:33] at a certain grade level scale in order

[3:35] to read that effectively

[3:37] so he took genesis 1 malachi 1 matthew 1

[3:41] and revelation 1.

[3:43] now when he took the king james bible

[3:44] this is what he discovered

[3:46] and you'll see this graph that's going

[3:48] to be included on the video you'll get

[3:50] to see this

[3:51] but the king james version of the bible

[3:53] after reading those four

[3:55] chapters chapter one of each one he came

[3:58] up with a great

[3:59] level average for the king james bible

[4:02] of 5.8

[4:03] fifth grade reading level a little bit

[4:06] more halfway through fifth grade sixth

[4:07] grade reading level

[4:09] now he took the niv now that's one of

[4:11] the more popular versions of the bible

[4:13] we took the niv

[4:14] same four chapters genesis 1 malachi 1

[4:17] matthew 1 revelation 1

[4:19] read them looked at them on the reading

[4:22] scale

[4:22] and this is what he said the niv bible

[4:26] on the

[4:26] average scale you need to be in the 8.4

[4:30] grade 8th grade not 5.8

[4:34] 8th grade reading scale now the new

[4:36] american standard bible he took that one

[4:39] as well

[4:39] and that one came out to 6.1 he took the

[4:43] tev the english version and he

[4:45] read that one and it came out to 7.2

[4:49] 7.2 who took the new king james

[4:53] 6.9 you see as he took the readability

[4:57] scale

[4:57] he generated by his proscribe

[5:00] he said this that the king james version

[5:03] is easier to read

[5:05] than usa today people magazine

[5:08] and most children's books it's amazing

[5:12] in fact

[5:12] the readability scale you'll see it on

[5:14] your graph there usa today in order to

[5:16] read the usa today

[5:18] and read it at a good reading you need

[5:20] to have a ninth grade

[5:21] reading ability there's 1.5 syllables

[5:25] per word

[5:26] and words that are over nine letters is

[5:28] ten percent of the words

[5:31] people magazine you need an eighth grade

[5:33] reading level

[5:34] one and a half syllables per word and

[5:36] there's 10 percent of the words that

[5:38] have

[5:38] nine letters or more in most children's

[5:41] books you need a seventh grade reading

[5:43] level

[5:44] 1.3 syllables per word eight percent of

[5:46] the words

[5:47] have over nine letters but the king

[5:50] james bible the new

[5:52] testament of the king james bible he

[5:54] said you have to have a 7th grade

[5:56] reading level for the new testament

[5:57] alone

[5:59] 1.3 1.3 syllables per word

[6:03] but he said in the new testament only

[6:05] three percent

[6:06] three percent of the words have over

[6:09] nine letters so dr flesh tells us

[6:12] yes it may seem difficult to some but in

[6:15] all actuality

[6:17] it is easier to read and understand the

[6:19] king james bible

[6:21] that it is any other version that's out

[6:24] there

[6:25] now i want to draw your attention to the

[6:27] words

[6:28] and we're going to look at three

[6:30] versions of the bible today we're going

[6:32] to look at the king james version

[6:34] we're going to look at the esv the

[6:36] england standard

[6:37] version and we're going to look at one

[6:39] of the more popular versions out there

[6:41] today

[6:42] the message bible will also include the

[6:44] niv as well at times

[6:46] so here's what it says in first timothy

[6:49] chapter 3 verse 16 and without

[6:51] controversy

[6:52] great is the mystery of godliness god

[6:55] was manifest in the flesh

[6:58] justified in the spirit scene of angels

[7:02] preached unto the gentiles believed on

[7:05] in the world

[7:05] and received up into glory first timothy

[7:08] 3

[7:09] 16. now the english standard version

[7:13] changes it to this uh

[7:17] great indeed we confess

[7:20] is the mystery of godliness

[7:23] he was manifested in the flesh

[7:26] vindicated

[7:27] by the spirit scene of angels

[7:31] proclaimed among the nations believed on

[7:35] in the world

[7:36] and taken up in glory as you look at the

[7:40] words it begins to change

[7:42] the meaning and great indeed it's

[7:46] not just great it's without controversy

[7:48] there's no doubt about it

[7:50] jesus christ was god in the flesh

[7:53] but when you begin to change and alter

[7:55] words it begins to bring about confusion

[7:58] let me share with you what the niv says

[8:00] same verse beyond all question

[8:03] the mystery of godliness is great

[8:06] he appeared in a body was vindicated by

[8:10] the spirit

[8:12] was seen by angels and preached among

[8:15] the nations

[8:16] was believed on in the world was taken

[8:19] up

[8:20] in glory well

[8:23] when you read that you find out there's

[8:26] an important phrase that's mentioned

[8:28] that the he was god not just a man

[8:33] but god god was manifest not just he

[8:36] but god himself the message bible which

[8:40] in my opinion is a man's commentary on

[8:42] what he thinks the bible's saying

[8:45] he said this this christian life is a

[8:47] great mystery

[8:48] for exceeding our understanding but some

[8:51] things are clear enough

[8:53] he appeared in a human body was proved

[8:56] right by the invisible spirit

[8:58] was seen by angels he was proclaimed

[9:01] among all kinds of people

[9:03] believed in and all over the world and

[9:06] taken up into heavenly

[9:08] glory you say well preacher those those

[9:11] aren't as

[9:12] big changes as you would think okay

[9:15] isaiah chapter 14 verses 12 and 15.

[9:19] the bible says this in the king james

[9:21] version how art thou fallen from heaven

[9:23] o lucifer

[9:25] son of the morning how art thou cut down

[9:27] to the ground

[9:28] which that's weak in the nations for

[9:30] thou hast said in thine heart i will

[9:32] ascend into heaven

[9:33] i will exalt my throne above the stars

[9:35] of god i will sit upon the mountains

[9:38] mount of the congregation and the sides

[9:40] of the north i will ascend above the

[9:42] heights of the clouds

[9:43] i will be like the most high yet thou

[9:46] shalt be brought down to hell to the

[9:50] now the english standard version says

[9:52] this how you are falling from heaven

[9:55] oh day star well the book of revelation

[9:58] talks about

[9:59] jesus christ is the day star the bride

[10:02] and morning star

[10:03] he said o day star son of the dawn how

[10:05] you are cut down to the ground

[10:08] you who laid the nations low you said in

[10:11] your heart i will ascend to heaven

[10:13] above the stars of god i will set my

[10:16] throne on high

[10:17] i will sit on the mountain of assembly

[10:19] in the far reaches of the north

[10:21] i will ascend above the heights of the

[10:23] cloud i will make myself like

[10:25] the most high but you are brought down

[10:28] to seahole

[10:29] to the far reaches of the pit. again

[10:32] changing words you changed out day star

[10:36] now you have that jesus christ and

[10:38] lucifer the same person

[10:40] it changes the doctrine listen to what

[10:43] the niv says how art thou fallen from

[10:45] heaven o morning star

[10:47] son of the dawn you've been cast down to

[10:50] earth you who once laid love the nations

[11:16] truth that's found there

[11:19] here's what the message bible says what

[11:22] a come down this

[11:24] o babylon day star son of the dawn flat

[11:27] on your

[11:28] face in the underworld mud you famous

[11:30] for flattening nations

[11:32] you said to yourself i'll climb to

[11:34] heaven i'll set my throne over the stars

[11:37] of god

[11:38] i'll run the assembly of angels that

[11:39] meets on the sacred mountain zaphon

[11:42] i'll climb to the top of the clouds i'll

[11:44] take over as king of the universe

[11:47] but you didn't make it did you instead

[11:49] of climbing up you came down

[11:51] down with the underground dead down to

[11:54] the abyss

[11:55] of death the sad reality is is when you

[11:58] change

[11:59] the words it changes the meaning

[12:02] and when you change the meaning it

[12:04] changes the doctrine

[12:06] i would challenge you if you have the

[12:08] time to

[12:10] consider other verses of scripture

[12:13] and look to see what another version

[12:15] says

[12:17] if you're a bible studier go to mark

[12:20] chapter 16 and read mark 16

[12:26] and then go to your niv bible and try to

[12:28] read mark 16

[12:29] and tell me what you find or try

[12:32] your english standard version and tell

[12:34] me what you find

[12:37] sad reality is you're going to be

[12:38] missing some verses

[12:41] you say why would they take those verses

[12:43] out preacher that's a good question

[12:45] maybe you should ask about that

[12:47] why would somebody take away from the

[12:49] word of god

[12:51] and not included in their copy of the

[12:54] word of god

[12:55] it's an interesting thought isn't it

[12:58] when you read your bible

[12:59] we know that the very words as we've

[13:02] talked about have been preserved for us

[13:03] by god

[13:05] words mean things and words are

[13:06] important

[13:08] be careful what version of the bible you

[13:12] have

[13:13] because what version of the bible you

[13:15] have

[13:17] shows you the doctrine of the bible

[13:21] if you don't have the right one you'll

[13:24] end up with false doctrine

[13:26] very popular verse the bible says behold

[13:28] a virgin shall conceive

[13:31] and bear a son they shall call his name

[13:34] jesus

[13:35] wonderful verse but a lot of the other

[13:38] modern versions

[13:40] they change that verse and they say this

[13:43] behold

[13:44] a young woman shall conceive

[13:47] and bear a sigh you say preacher what's

[13:50] the big deal well when you take the word

[13:52] virgin and you replace it with young

[13:54] woman

[13:55] you've taken away the supernatural birth

[13:58] of christ

[13:59] he's just another man changing the word

[14:03] virgin to young woman changes the

[14:06] doctrine

[14:07] now jesus is just a man because as

[14:10] you'll discover

[14:11] there are a lot of young women who have

[14:13] children

[14:15] but there's only been one that was

[14:17] virgin born

[14:18] and he was the son of god see it's

[14:21] important to have the

[14:22] right words so in the comments below if

[15:09] of your bible

[15:10] not just because i said so study it out

[15:12] yourself through these last videos

[15:14] and understand why we believe it is the

[15:16] sole authority
