[0:39] Good evening, Dan Rather reporting. The
[0:41] streets of Los Angeles may be even more
[0:43] dangerous now than they were before the
[0:45] riots. While some looters were carrying
[0:47] off televisions and stereos, CBS News
[0:50] has now proved that street gangs went
[0:52] shopping for weapons for a possible war
[0:55] against the police. Ron Allen has been
[0:57] investigating.
[1:02] >> Checking ourselves, getting together so
[1:04] we can be stronger, so we won't let the
[1:06] police come in our communities and shoot
[1:07] us up.
[1:12] >> 9,000 rounds of ammo.
[1:14] >> You got any guns? Their main mission is
[1:16] to command a 187 on any officer.
[1:19] >> Los Angeles police under siege by gang
[1:22] members who looted and purchased huge
[1:24] caches of weapons and ammo during the
[1:26] riots.

[1:29] on us. And that appalls me that we'd let
[1:31] that happen.
[1:32] >> Nearly a thousand guns were taken from
[1:34] just one western surplus store. And
[1:36] thousands more highowered weapons were
[1:38] looted across LA.
