[0:00] Our big

[0:01] chill years brings a presidential deal

[0:04] with prosecutors. All this just hours

[0:07] before a new president takes office.

[0:10] Plus, electric shock waves. California's

[0:13] widening power crisis could soon lead to

[0:16] a gasoline shortage.

[0:24] This is the CBS Evening News with Dan

[0:28] Rather reporting tonight from

[0:30] presidential inauguration headquarters

[0:32] in

[0:34] Washington. Good evening. Once again,

[1:20] Robert Ray wanted the deal done while

[1:22] Mr. Clinton was still president. And he

[1:24] didn't want the matter hanging around

[1:25] through George Bush's first few days at

[1:27] the White House. I never

[1:30] had sexual relations with Monica

[1:33] Lewinsky. I've never had an affair with

[1:34] her. Three years after this deposition

[1:36] in the Paula Jones case, President

[1:38] Clinton for the first time today
