[0:29] Good evening. and welcome to HDNet and

[0:31] Dan Ruther Reports live coverage of

[0:33] election night 2008. The polls have just

[0:36] closed in Georgia, Kentucky, Indiana,

[0:39] South Carolina, Vermont uh and Virginia.

[0:43] There are some very early returns coming

[0:45] in uh in the race for president from two

[0:48] of those states, Kentucky and Indiana,

[0:51] mostly because the polls closed in

[0:53] portions of those states a little bit

[0:54] earlier on. But frankly, the early vote

[0:57] returns, they're so small and so

[0:59] scattered that not draw any conclusions

[1:02] from them at all. You know, for almost

[1:04] two years now, we've seen history in the

[1:06] making. Historic candidacies buying in a

[1:08] historically long and dramatic campaign,

[1:12] spending historic amounts of cash along

[1:17] billion dollars when it's all counted

[1:19] up. And it all comes down to tonight.

[1:22] Tonight, history will be made. We're on

[1:24] the precipice of history here. Now, I

[1:27] recognize that other places and in other

[1:29] ways you may be hearing or seeing

[1:31] guesses, estimates, some very early poll

[1:34] results. Let's review where we are now.

[1:37] The polls have just closed in at least

[1:39] two states that could be indicators of

[1:42] how the evening is going. And those two

[1:43] states uh would be Virginia and Indiana.

[1:47] There are some early returns from those

[1:50] states, just a few thousand votes. Now,

[1:52] in Indiana, that's a state that has

[1:55] historically gone for the Republican

[1:57] presidential candidate, as is the case

[1:59] with Virginia. So, if you say, why is

[2:00] Dan Rather, anybody else saying, here's

[2:02] a call in K
