[0:45] good morning and welcome to revelation

[0:47] revealed i know we've been gone for a

[0:48] few weeks but we are excited to be back

[0:51] again

[0:52] as we study the book of revelation uh

[0:54] today we're in

[0:55] revelation chapter number 12. as you

[0:58] know we've been studying through the

[0:59] book of revelation

[1:01] uh section by section and we're in

[1:03] revelation chapter 12. we left off in

[1:06] chapter 11

[1:07] and uh the scene there and now we're in

[1:10] revelation chapter 12.

[1:12] we're going to begin reading in verse

[1:14] number one the bible says

[1:16] and there appeared and i'm going to stop

[1:18] there

[1:19] you'll notice that it is not the normal

[1:22] phrases that we've seen

[1:24] after that it's blown blank

[1:27] and after this or after that uh you'll

[1:30] notice it's a

[1:31] and here in fact it's something

[1:32] interesting if you read chapter 12

[1:35] except for verse number 12 every verse

[1:38] starts with the word and

[1:40] which is very interesting and so this is

[1:43] not a

[1:44] vision that's in chronological order

[1:47] following the events of chapter 11.

[1:49] this is a chapter that is a

[1:52] parenthetical chapter it's inserted in

[1:55] for

[1:55] us but it's really inserted in for the

[1:58] jewish nation

[1:59] to have their signs and their pictures

[2:02] for who the messiah is remembering

[2:05] revelation chapter 1

[2:07] details for us that it is the revelation

[2:10] of jesus christ and it talks about

[2:13] his revelation of who it is so

[2:14] revelations about jesus

[2:17] now in chapter 12 it's jesus and his

[2:20] relationship with the nation of israel

[2:23] so notice verse 1 again

[2:25] and there appeared a great wonder in

[2:28] heaven

[2:29] now the word wonder here is an

[2:31] interesting word

[2:32] in the old testament many times you

[2:34] would find the word wonder in the new

[2:36] testament that same phrase would be

[2:38] considered

[2:39] miracle and so the wonder here it's a

[2:42] miraculous thing it's a miracle

[2:44] thing so the word wonder here

[2:46] representing miraculous

[2:48] so there's a wonder in heaven a woman

[2:51] clothed with the sun

[2:53] and the moon under her feet and upon her

[2:56] head a crown of twelve stars

[2:59] and she being with child greatly

[3:01] travailing in birth

[3:03] and pain to be delivered and so

[3:06] now there's this sign

[3:10] word personage picture

[3:14] that god is using to fulfill

[3:17] prophetic prophecy to reveal to the

[3:20] nation of israel

[3:22] who what when he's talking about

[3:26] so the woman here is dealing with the

[3:29] nation of israel

[3:30] the woman is israel clothed

[3:33] with the sun now that would have taken

[3:35] them back

[3:36] as soon as the phrase clothed with the

[3:38] sun

[3:40] it would have immediately taken them to

[3:43] old testament passages the first is

[3:45] found in genesis 37

[3:48] verse number 9. i'm going to go back

[3:50] there and read that for you today

[3:52] and we'll have that uh here in the video

[3:54] for you to see

[3:55] as well genesis 37 verse number nine and

[3:59] he dreamed yet another dream

[4:01] and told it his brethren and said behold

[4:03] i have dreamed a dream

[4:05] more and behold the sun and the moon and

[4:09] the eleven stars made obeisance to me

[4:12] so as soon as that phrase clothed with

[4:14] the sun it would have immediately taken

[4:16] them

[4:16] back to joseph and the dream that joseph

[4:21] had

[4:21] and the sun moon and stars there and

[4:24] that referencing there

[4:25] would have taken him back to joseph so

[4:28] this figure in their history

[4:30] would immediately be triggered this

[4:32] mindset joseph

[4:34] in typology being a type of christ a

[4:36] redeemer

[4:37] and so it would have taken them back to

[4:40] that point another point it would have

[4:41] taken them to

[4:42] is malachi chapter number four

[4:45] malachi chapter number four

[4:49] and in this section of scripture it

[4:51] would have reminded them of this

[4:53] in malachi chapter 4 verse

[4:56] number 2 but unto you that fear my name

[4:59] shall the son of righteousness as you

[5:02] and

[5:02] son of righteousness arise with healing

[5:05] in his wings

[5:06] and ye shall go forth and grow up as the

[5:09] calves of the stall

[5:10] and you shall tread down the wicked for

[5:12] they shall be ashes under the soles of

[5:14] your feet in the day

[5:16] that i shall do this saith the lord of

[5:18] hosts and so it reminds them

[5:21] of the prophecies that have been given

[5:24] also

[5:25] isaiah chapter number 9

[5:28] and verse number 6 as well isaiah 9

[5:31] 6 would have taken them to there and

[5:34] isaiah 9

[5:35] 6 the bible says this

[5:38] for unto us a child is born unto us a

[5:41] son is given

[5:42] and the government shall be upon his

[5:44] shoulder and his name shall be called

[5:47] wonderful counselor the mighty god the

[5:50] everlasting father the prince of peace

[5:52] the

[5:52] wonder the wonderful the wonder

[5:56] is this child who's going to be born

[5:59] and this would have been a word picture

[6:02] of a prophetic fulfillment

[6:06] in jesus christ so the woman is clothed

[6:08] with the sun

[6:09] the moon is under her feet i don't have

[6:11] time today to dive into what that could

[6:14] possibly be

[6:15] but you'll know the moon has no light of

[6:18] its own it's a reflection

[6:20] of the sun and so many believe the moon

[6:23] there to be

[6:24] a typology of the church reflecting the

[6:26] light of

[6:27] the sun so the woman is israel the woman

[6:30] is married now throughout the bible

[6:32] you'll discover this terminology

[6:34] that the the nation of israel is the

[6:36] wife

[6:37] of jehovah the wife of jehovah

[6:40] the church is considered to be the bride

[6:42] of christ

[6:44] but the nation of israel is the wife of

[6:47] jehovah

[6:48] so jehovah is the father god is the

[6:51] father

[6:51] the nation of israel is the woman

[6:55] here and so the woman here is described

[6:59] in chapter number 12 she's with child

[7:01] but on her head

[7:03] there's a crown of 12 stars now that 12

[7:07] should automatically take you and i to

[7:10] the 12 tribes

[7:12] of israel and so the woman is

[7:14] represented with the crown

[7:16] of the 12 tribes so we've got the 12

[7:19] tribes she's the wife of jehovah

[7:21] and she's with child now we know if

[7:24] you've studied the book of matthew in

[7:25] the book of luke the first few chapters

[7:27] there

[7:28] the chronology of jesus christ i should

[7:30] say the genealogy of jesus christ

[7:33] you'll know he came out of israel

[7:36] he's the root of david he's the branch

[7:39] of jesse

[7:40] and he's fulfillment of prophecy so the

[7:43] child here is jesus christ

[7:46] he's the messiah and it's this again

[7:49] this

[7:49] picture that the jews needed a sign

[7:53] so it's a sign a picture for them

[7:56] to understand the prophecy of the

[7:59] messiah

[8:00] you'll notice verse 3 there appeared

[8:02] another wonder

[8:03] in heaven so here's another miracle

[8:06] behold a great red

[8:07] dragon having seven heads

[8:11] and ten horns and seven crowns

[8:14] upon his head now this red dragon

[8:17] is satan lucifer in fact the word

[8:21] the dragon is referenced 12 times in the

[8:24] book of revelation

[8:25] eight times specifically in chapter

[8:28] number 12

[8:29] but 12 times total so he's got seven

[8:32] heads

[8:33] and he's got ten horns now revelation 17

[8:37] verses 8 through 19 detail for us about

[8:40] the ten

[8:41] horns the ten horns representing the ten

[8:44] nations

[8:45] that are in alliance with satan during

[8:48] the tribulation period

[8:50] and we'll talk more about that when we

[8:51] get to chapter 17. but there's these

[8:54] ten horns representing the ten different

[8:57] nations

[8:58] there's seven heads on top of this

[9:00] dragon

[9:01] and so there's this description there

[9:03] you'll notice also it says in verse

[9:06] number four

[9:07] and his tale drew a third part of the

[9:09] stars of heaven

[9:11] and he cast him to earth and the dragon

[9:14] stood before the woman which was ready

[9:16] to be delivered

[9:17] for to devour her child as soon as it

[9:20] was born

[9:22] so if you've studied your bible you know

[9:24] that when lucifer fell

[9:26] from heaven he took a third part of the

[9:28] angels with him

[9:30] a third part of the angel so the stars

[9:32] here referencing angels the third part

[9:35] fell now here's an exciting thought for

[9:37] you

[9:38] one-third fell with him that means

[9:40] two-thirds stayed loyal to god

[9:42] so for every one demon there's two

[9:45] angels that's just a comforting thought

[9:47] to know

[9:48] that for every one evil there's two

[9:50] times the good

[9:52] so the dragon though you'll notice once

[9:54] to kill

[9:55] the man child in jeremiah 4 31 it talks

[9:58] about that

[10:00] as well so satan has always sought to

[10:04] destroy

[10:05] jesus christ you'll notice that when

[10:08] jesus was born the influence satan

[10:10] tried on pilate and on pontius pilate

[10:14] too in order to wipe out

[10:16] the children and not patches but herod

[10:19] and so they influenced herod to wipe out

[10:22] the children two years age and under but

[10:24] god had a plan

[10:26] and god told joseph to take the child to

[10:29] egypt and

[10:30] fulfill prophecy and protected the child

[10:33] so the man child here is jesus again

[10:36] this is a

[10:37] word picture and a mindset picture

[10:41] to help illustrate prophetic truth

[10:45] the man child is jesus said the dragon's

[10:48] desire

[10:50] is to kill the child as soon as it was

[10:53] born but verse 5

[10:55] she brought forth a man-child who was to

[10:58] rule

[10:58] all nations with a rod of iron and her

[11:01] child was caught up unto god

[11:03] and to his throne

[11:06] so here we find that the nations are

[11:09] gathering together that the messiah

[11:12] comes

[11:13] now the nation of israel looked at jesus

[11:16] not only

[11:16] as the savior but as a prophet

[11:20] as the priest and as a king he will

[11:23] fulfill

[11:24] his kingly role he will reign in

[11:28] israel he will reign from the throne of

[11:30] david

[11:31] for a thousand years that's going to

[11:34] happen

[11:35] it will happen all the prophecies have

[11:37] been fulfilled

[11:38] and then during the tribulation period

[11:40] and then after the tribulation

[11:42] appeared we'll have the millennial

[11:43] kingdom where jesus will reign for a

[11:46] thousand years

[11:47] with the rod of iron and so we know

[11:50] that's going to happen

[11:52] but during that time of the tribulation

[11:55] period

[11:56] verse number six and the woman

[11:59] fled into the wilderness where she had a

[12:02] place

[12:02] prepared of god that should feed her

[12:06] and there a thousand twelve hundred and

[12:08] three score days

[12:10] now remember the tribulation period's

[12:13] all about israel

[12:14] it's not about the church the church is

[12:16] raptured out

[12:17] before the tribulation period begins now

[12:20] will the church go through tribulation

[12:22] yes but we're not talking about the

[12:24] tribulation period the 70th week of

[12:27] daniel

[12:28] the great tribulation as we call it the

[12:31] church will not be there

[12:33] it's not about us it's about the nation

[12:35] of israel

[12:36] and so israel will flee to the

[12:38] wilderness 1260 days

[12:42] and so the protection of god micah 7 14

[12:45] and 15 talk about that as well

[12:49] but here here's what we're getting to

[12:51] today

[12:52] in chapter 12 god presents this sign

[12:55] picture to the nation of israel to help

[12:58] them understand that jesus

[13:00] is the messiah that jesus

[13:03] is the one who's going to rule and to

[13:06] reign

[13:07] the dragon represents the devil the

[13:10] woman

[13:11] represents the nation of israel the

[13:14] man child is jesus christ the third of

[13:18] the stars that fell

[13:19] are the demons that fell the angels that

[13:21] fell from heaven

[13:23] now there's going to be a battle that

[13:26] takes place

[13:27] verse 8 or excuse me verse 7 talks about

[13:30] the war in heaven we're going to get to

[13:32] that next time

[13:34] but we're just laying the groundwork so

[13:36] here are the players

[13:37] we have the woman who's the nation of

[13:40] israel

[13:41] we have the man child who's jesus christ

[13:44] we have the dragon who represents

[13:47] lucifer the devil he

[13:49] is the dragon we have the ten

[13:52] horns representing ten nations

[13:56] that are in rebellion against god and

[13:59] are teamed up with the dragon during the

[14:01] tribulation

[14:02] period we have the woman fleeing into

[14:05] the wilderness

[14:06] and in micah 7 14-15 actually describes

[14:10] where that could be that that section of

[14:13] the wilderness that they flee to

[14:14] that god has prepared for them and so

[14:17] all of this is taking place

[14:19] now we've come through the judgments

[14:22] we're in the bold judgments the vile

[14:24] judgments

[14:25] and all of these things that are taking

[14:27] place this is not chronological this is

[14:29] a

[14:30] snapshot picture of what's happened

[14:33] throughout prophecy and so now

[14:36] the end of verse six is telling us

[14:38] what's happening in the tribulation

[14:41] period and so verse 7

[14:44] happens at the end of the tribulation

[14:46] period so we'll talk about that next

[14:48] time

[14:49] but i know there's a lot of information

[14:51] here in this section of chapter 12 the

[14:53] first six verses

[14:54] but remember god is revealing himself to

[14:57] israel

[14:58] so that they understand that jesus is

[15:01] their messiah so i look forward to next
