[0:00] politics. I am a strong campaigner and a
[0:02] conservative. Miller Hicks, who is one
[0:03] of the Reagan four whips, has been
[0:05] talking to those same delegates. There's
[0:07] a fellow down in Texas here, Mr. Hicks,
[0:09] whose name is John Connally. And I know
[0:11] the Texas people are very loyal to him,
[0:13] but let's look beyond that.
[0:15] Supposing it's not Connally, what kind
[0:17] of a fellow are you looking for that
[0:18] that can run and and elect the
[0:20] candidates you need elected in November?
[0:22] Richard, I appreciate it. I do want to
[0:24] say hello to my fellow Texan up there in
[0:25] the booth. And I know he's 100% Reagan
[0:28] as the delegation is. Hello, Walter.
[0:30] Answer the question, Richard. I think
[0:32] we'll need a strong campaigner. Texas is
[0:34] used to strong, outspoken, personable
[0:36] politicians. I think anything less than
[0:39] that, that is a weak person, just simply
[0:42] won't carry the South and West. We're
[0:43] individuals down there, and we need a
[0:46] strong individual personality to help.
[0:48] All right. Now, you've defined the kind
[0:49] of person. Name me some names.
[0:51] Well, Richard, I'll tell you, I've got
[0:52] one mission here tonight, and that's to
[0:54] get Governor Reagan elected president.
[0:56] And that's all I want to work on. All
[0:57] right. What about a Reagan for vice
[0:59] president?
[1:00] Well, I'll have to
[1:00] happens, if it should come to it. I'll
[1:02] I'll have to respect Governor Reagan's
[1:03] opinion when he said I'm not interested
[1:05] in it. I will give you my opinion that
[1:06] I'd love to have him as vice president.
[1:08] Thank you very much, Walter.
[1:10] I don't think in the last quarter of a
[1:12] century we've seen a
