[1:00] America takes a breather, perhaps takes
[1:02] in a bowl game, no RNR tonight for many
[1:05] of the American armed forces overseas
[1:08] who are still very much in the hunt for
[1:10] the top forces of al-Qaeda. Osama bin
[1:12] Laden, while still at large, is not the
[1:15] only prize in this war. His closest
[1:17] political ally, Taliban leader Mulla
[1:20] Omar, is a major target. And to that
[1:22] end, there is a major effort underway to
[1:25] find him. So we begin our reporting this
[1:28] New Year's night with NBC's Chip Reed in
[1:30] Kabell, Afghanistan.
[1:33] In southern Afghanistan, no New Year's
[1:35] Day holiday for the Marines stationed at
[1:37] Kandahar Air Base. Just after midnight,
