[0:42] >> Tonight, prime time exclusive. Denise

[0:45] Brown, Nicole Brown Simpson's sister, on

[0:48] her fight to keep OJ Simpson's cancel

[0:50] book off eBay and his TV interview off

[0:53] YouTube. And speaking out on the

[0:57] millions in hush money she says those

[1:00] behind his deal offered her. Plus

[1:02] another prime time exclusive. She says

[1:05] she was raped and abused by her own

[1:08] teammates. Now, Katie Naida, the former

[1:11] Colorado University kicker who made

[1:13] headlines and history, finally speaks

[1:16] out about her season in hell. It's her

[1:18] first live prime time interview, and

[1:20] it's next on Larry King Live.

[1:33] Good evening. We begin with an old

[1:35] friend and a new one. And the old friend

[1:36] is Denise Brown, Nicole Brown, Simpson's

[1:38] sister. Haven't seen her in a while.

[1:39] It's good to see her again. And Natasha

[1:41] Reut, who is the attorney for Denise

[1:44] Brown. OJ Simpson's two-part interview

[1:46] was supposed to air yesterday and

[1:47] tomorrow. And the book was due to come

[1:49] out Friday. How do you feel about the

[1:51] cancellation?

[1:52] >> Oh, I'm elated. I think it's absolutely

[1:55] terrific. And I think the American

[1:56] public did an amazing job, you know,

[1:58] getting this off the air.

[2:00] >> Are you surprised it was canled?

[2:01] >> Um, gosh, who knows? You know, I mean,

[2:04] there's always a 50/50 chance of

[2:06] anything happening and we know that. But

[2:08] I think the American people spoke loud

[2:10] and clear and right on to them.

[2:12] >> So, your credit goes to them.

[2:14] >> Oh, absolutely. Oh my gosh. There were

[2:16] pickets, there were um email campaigns,

[2:19] there were letterw writing campaigns,

[2:21] there were websites, you know, uh write

[2:25] uh signing your names on petitions and

[2:27] oh yeah, the American people spoke loud

[2:29] and clear. I mean, organizations from

[2:30] ESTA Solar to the National Coalition to

[2:34] the East Coast to uh Patricia over at

[2:36] Crime Survivors here in uh Orange

[2:39] County. I mean, there was organizations

[2:40] all over the country that spoke up.

[2:42] >> Natasha, why does Denise need a lawyer?

[2:45] >> Well, I don't think Denise uh needs a

[2:47] lawyer. I don't think the Brown family

[2:49] needs a lawyer, per se. I think they uh

[2:51] wanted to get legal advice. And also, um

[2:54] you know, they're going up against uh at

[2:56] this juncture very big corporations.

[2:59] They're going up against Harper Collins

[3:00] and News Corp and uh eBay and had

[3:03] conversations with Google today and I

[3:06] think in that sense uh they needed

[3:07] assistance and representation and pro

[3:09] bono I was happy to do it.

[3:11] >> If it's canled what's what's to be

[3:12] against?

[3:12] >> Well, we're we're not done. We're we're

[3:14] far from being done. When when the show

[3:15] was first cancelled uh and and by the

[3:18] way, I joined Denise in in in thanking

[3:20] the American public, but I'll go one

[3:22] step beyond that. I think the Brown

[3:23] family deserves a ton of credit for uh

[3:26] stepping up and telling these

[3:28] corporations in no uncertain terms,

[3:30] we're not going to take your money. You

[3:32] have to cancel the show and it's not an

[3:34] option for you. And I think that was the

[3:36] straw that broke the camel.

[3:37] >> The Goldman's offered money to

[3:40] >> that's something you should address with

[3:41] the uh with the Goldmans and I think

[3:43] that's the only

[3:43] >> What do they offer you money for?

[3:46] >> What was it? Hush money. I mean I I may

[3:50] not be as articulate as Mr. to Murdoch

[3:52] because he claims that it wasn't hush

[3:53] money. He says, you know, but when I sit

[3:55] there and I look at a document and it

[3:57] says, you know, confidential, keep this

[3:59] confidential or that's what the

[4:01] attorneys had said.

[4:02] >> What were you supposed to do?

[4:04] >> Were you supposed to not critic or

[4:05] >> Well, no, they were still going to air

[4:06] the show.

[4:07] >> They were actually they were still going

[4:08] to air the show. They were still going

[4:10] to do the book, but it was supposed to

[4:11] be monies just to keep us happy.

[4:13] >> And let me just add to that from a legal

[4:15] perspective, they also wanted a covenant

[4:16] not to sue. So, in other words, News

[4:18] Corp wanted to wash its hands of the

[4:20] situation and say, "Here's money. We're

[4:22] going to share the profits or give the

[4:24] profits," which by definition meant the

[4:26] show would go on, the book would go on.

[4:28] >> Did any money change hands?

[4:29] >> No. No. H

[4:30] >> How much did they offer you?

[4:33] >> Enough.

[4:34] >> A lot.

[4:34] >> A lot. Yeah. Millions.

[4:36] >> You give it a thought?

[4:38] >> Millions.

[4:38] >> Millions. Yeah. No. Because you know

[4:40] what, Larry? I had a million-dollar book

[4:42] deal with Judith Reagan at one point,

[4:44] and it turned into a tabloid version.

[4:47] That's what she wanted. And I wasn't

[4:49] going to do that. I cannot sell out. I

[4:51] don't care how many millions of dollars

[4:52] people offer me. I cannot sell my sister

[4:55] to the devil. I'm sorry. She's We're not

[4:57] sleeping with the devil.

[4:58] >> As we were going on, uh Natasha told me

[5:00] she would reveal something tonight never

[5:02] before revealed. And that is the name of

[5:05] the person who handled the money from

[5:07] Fox to Simpson. Right.

[5:09] >> Yeah. And this information came to us

[5:11] originally from Harper Collins when uh

[5:14] they wanted to show at least

[5:16] preliminarily some good faith that they

[5:18] would provide this information to us. Uh

[5:20] I've since concluded that that was just

[5:22] one step forward and two steps back

[5:24] which we can certainly discuss. But um

[5:26] the money the way it was transacted uh

[5:29] is it went through and I'm sad to say

[5:32] this a California attorney and they sad

[5:35] to say it because I'm a California

[5:36] attorney and a member of the bar by the

[5:38] name of Brett Saxon uh and that's

[5:41] >> Brett Sax

[5:41] >> Saxon and that's News Corp gave him the

[5:43] money and he transported it to OJ.

[5:46] >> That is exactly well he transported it

[5:48] to another entity uh that transported it

[5:50] to Mr. Simpson. That is the way it's

[5:52] been presented to us. And I just want to

[5:55] say that uh we I've contacted uh Mr.

[5:58] Saxon. I requested that he speak with me

[6:01] uh defend himself if if he was in fact

[6:03] involved. And that is the information

[6:05] that was provided to me in written form

[6:07] uh from Harper Collins. That he's the

[6:09] individual who was the agent that was

[6:12] funneling the money to the

[6:13] >> getting around the law. Wasn't O.J.

[6:15] supposed to turn that civil money over

[6:17] to the Browns and the and the

[6:19] >> Goldman.

[6:19] >> Absolutely. To the Goldman's and to the

[6:22] judgment is in the name of um Lou Brown

[6:25] who uh was the trustee for the children

[6:28] >> state of Nicole.

[6:29] >> The state Nicole. So

[6:30] >> that was that an illegal act?

[6:32] >> I believe it was absolutely an illegal

[6:34] act.

[6:34] >> OJ got and spent the money.

[6:36] >> That's what he says.

[6:37] >> Was it three and a half million?

[6:39] >> That's not what we're told. But again, I

[6:41] have asked Harper Collins for

[6:42] documentation. and forgive me, but I'm

[6:43] simply not going to take their word for

[6:45] it. They're telling me it's $95,000

[6:48] that $125 of it went went to the ghost

[6:50] writer, but that money was, I'm told,

[6:53] funneled to Mr. Simpson through Mr.

[6:55] Saxon.

[6:55] >> Now, last we check, copies of the book

[6:57] are no longer being offered on eBay.

[6:59] They were for a while, right?

[7:00] >> They were, thank God for Natasha.

[7:03] >> Okay, we have we asked eBay about the OJ

[7:05] book matter. Here are the main points of

[7:07] the statement from the director of

[7:08] corporate communications, Han Derzy.

[7:11] eBay does not want copi copies of this

[7:14] book on the site. As soon as we became

[7:16] aware that a handful of copies were

[7:18] listed for sale on the site, our first

[7:19] pri priority became to get them taken

[7:21] down. In the meantime, eBay's policy

[7:24] team discussed the issue and concluded

[7:26] the Brown family was correct. The sale

[7:28] of this book also violates our offensive

[7:30] items policy policy, and we are now

[7:33] proactively removing any listings for

[7:36] the book. Case closed.

[7:40] case closed.

[7:41] >> Look, I we want to move on from from

[7:43] here, but I I will I will take issue

[7:45] with eBay's statement to the extent that

[7:48] uh they did not do this quickly and

[7:49] voluntarily. In fact, today for the

[7:51] first time when your show contacted them

[7:54] for comment, I got a phone call,

[7:56] responsive phone call indicating that

[7:57] they met, they determined the book was

[7:59] offensive and they are taking proactive

[8:02] steps.

[8:02] >> Do you believe this book was a

[8:04] confession?

[8:07] >> Uh, no.

[8:09] I don't think it was a confession. I

[8:10] think that I think it could have been,

[8:13] but the way they went around doing it, I

[8:16] think was just not a confession type for

[8:19] me. I mean, it didn't.

[8:20] >> When you heard about it, was it

[8:21] unbelievable to you?

[8:23] >> Um, actually, no, because I thought

[8:24] about it years ago. I said, you know

[8:26] what? One of these days, he's going to

[8:27] come out and he's actually going to say

[8:28] something or he's going to do something.

[8:30] Um, he's going to say how he did it. I I

[8:32] thought about this years ago. This is

[8:34] really sad because he woke up this huge

[8:36] nightmare that we lived 12 years ago and

[8:39] all of a sudden here it is again.

[8:41] >> But you don't regard this as a

[8:42] confession.

[8:43] >> I don't know. I mean I think it's I I

[8:46] I've talked to a couple of people. No,

[8:48] but I've talked to somebody who has read

[8:49] it.

[8:50] >> Yeah.

[8:51] >> Did you read it, counselor?

[8:52] >> No.

[8:52] >> We'll take a break. Be right back with

[8:54] Denise Brown and Natasha Roy on this

[8:56] edition of Larry King Live. Don't go

[8:58] away.

[8:58] >> Mr. Simpson is a fugitive of justice

[9:02] right now.

[9:05] >> Police believe that that OJ Simpson is

[9:08] in that car.

[9:11] >> Just back off. He's still alive, but

[9:13] he's got a gun to his head.

[9:14] >> Now, police radio is saying that Simpson

[9:16] has a [music] gun at his head. Police

[9:18] radio saying that Simpson, the passenger

[9:20] in the car, has a gun at his head.

[9:24] >> My name is You know who I am. Godamn it.

[9:34] Do you often struggle [music] to get to

[9:36] sleep at night? Do you wake in the night

[9:39] and can't go back to sleep? Maybe it's

[9:43] Lunesta is right for you. For a limited

[9:46] time, you're invited to take the Luma 7

[9:49] Night [music] Challenge. Ask your doctor

[10:15] alcohol. Most sleep medicines carry some

[10:17] risk of dependency. Side effects may

[10:34] >> Let me tell you about a very important

[10:36] phone call I made. When I got my

[10:38] Medicare card, I [music] realized I

[10:40] needed an ARP Medicare supplement

[10:42] insurance card, too. One simple call

[10:45] gave me the [music] chance to talk with

[10:46] a personal health insurance adviser

[10:48] >> who answered all my questions about

[10:50] Medicare supplement plans.

[10:52] >> If you're already on or eligible for

[10:54] Medicare, call now to find out how an

[10:56] AARP Medicare supplement insurance plan

[10:58] insured by United Healthcare Insurance

[11:00] [music] Company helps you pay some of

[11:02] the 20% of your medical expenses not

[11:04] covered by Medicare Part B. [music] That

[11:06] can save you thousands of dollars. These

[11:08] are the only Medicare supplement

[11:10] insurance plans exclusively endorsed by

[11:12] AARP, [music] a name you trust. When you

[11:14] call now, we'll send you this free

[11:16] information kit, plus this free guide to

[11:18] understanding Medicare.

[11:19] >> I can keep my own doctor and choose my

[11:21] own hospital,

[11:22] >> and I don't need a referral to see a

[11:24] specialist.

[11:25] >> Call 180067341-68.

[11:28] Now, a personal health insurance adviser

[11:30] is waiting.

[11:34] Don't wait an hour for morning news. At

[11:37] 6:00 a.m., CNN has the only national

[11:39] newscast with everything you expect by 7

[11:42] with Solid O'Brien and Miles O'Brien. 6

[11:45] a.m. CNN American Morning tomorrow.

[11:49] AC 360 this week. The Pope who enraged

[11:52] Muslims now faces them head on. And

[11:55] Anderson Cooper is there firsthand when

[11:57] faiths collide on AC3 live from Turkey.

[12:01] This week 10 Eastern,

[12:06] >> OJ's attorney, Yale Gallanter, told CNN

[12:09] correspondent [music] Jason Carroll that

[12:10] compensation is already made in the form

[12:12] of payment Simpson has been paid in full

[12:14] and that Simpson is totally indifferent

[12:17] about the fact that it's been cancelled.

[12:19] >> Well, first of all, that's not true.

[12:21] It's hasn't been paid in full,

[12:23] >> but he has been we know uh he's been

[12:26] paid a substantial portion of what his

[12:29] agreement was. Is he indifferent?

[12:31] [music] I doubt that very much. He

[12:33] missed his chance to be in the

[12:35] limelight. He missed his chance to be in

[12:38] the in the public view, which is

[12:40] incredibly important to him. I don't

[12:42] believe for a minute he's indifferent.

[12:45] We're back with Denise Brown and Natasha

[12:47] Roy, her attorney. Uh, we also contacted

[12:50] Google about the possibility of the OJ

[12:52] Simpson interview being posted on its um

[12:56] on its site and the possibility of it

[12:59] being posted on its tube site. We

[13:00] received this from spokesperson

[13:03] um Gabriel, if they'll move that, I'll

[13:05] get the name. Gabriel Stricker. Both

[13:07] Google and YouTube are strongly

[13:09] committed to copyright enforcement and

[13:11] prohibit all infringing materials. We

[13:13] employ a variety of methods to

[13:15] discourage users from posting

[13:17] copyrighted material. That satisfy you,

[13:20] Denise?

[13:22] >> I just don't want anything to leak out.

[13:24] You know, I I know that people are

[13:26] indifferent about having this book out

[13:28] there and having [clears throat] the

[13:29] movie out there, but I truly don't want

[13:32] it out there. I think that uh what

[13:34] Judith Reagan has done, I mean, being a

[13:35] victim of domestic violence supposedly

[13:38] and printing or putting out a manual on

[13:41] how to commit murder, I think is

[13:43] absolutely horrific. I think that uh you

[13:46] know, shame on Judith Reagan. I just

[13:49] don't even understand that.

[13:50] >> Do you fear is going to come out?

[13:52] >> You know, I'm not going to take that

[13:53] attitude. I I think with the assistance

[13:55] of of of uh entities like Google and I

[13:57] spoke with them today and they said that

[13:59] is consistent with their statement that

[14:00] they're going to take every measure

[14:02] possible to prevent it. Craigslist has

[14:04] been very cooperative and frankly we've

[14:06] gotten emails from people uh in

[14:08] different states uh who've been

[14:10] extremely helpful who notify us if

[14:12] anything even close to that occurs. I

[14:14] think it can be done and I'm not going

[14:15] to take an attitude that it can't be. I

[14:17] think we can obliterate the book. I

[14:18] think we can obliterate the videotape

[14:20] and we're going to keep pushing until

[14:22] it's accomplished.

[14:23] >> By the way, the Brett Sachs that you

[14:24] mentioned, is he OJ's attorney?

[14:26] >> No, that that's not the way it's been

[14:28] presented to me. It's been presented to

[14:29] me that he was he and his company TMP in

[14:32] Santa Monica on Ocean Boulevard

[14:34] actually, you know, spitting distance

[14:35] from from from me. Um were the conduit

[14:39] the money was paid through them to the

[14:43] associates,

[14:43] >> not as an attorney, but as a company.

[14:45] Exactly.

[14:45] >> So he wasn't Simpsons.

[14:47] >> No. and and we fully intend to pursue

[14:49] him with the state bar or anything else

[14:51] that's necessary to uh make him

[14:53] accountable for what he's done.

[14:54] >> Denise, one would have said, "Why not

[14:56] take the money and give it to the

[14:59] children or give it to your own

[15:00] foundation?"

[15:01] >> You know what? Because it's blood money.

[15:03] It was just wrong. I think that uh I

[15:06] think if anything, I think News Corp

[15:08] should give these children some money. I

[15:11] think they should be funding their

[15:13] school, their education, doing something

[15:15] like that because if they claim that

[15:17] this money was supposed to be going to

[15:19] the children, and that's what News Corp

[15:21] claimed, and that's what uh Judith

[15:22] Reagan claimed, why didn't they put it

[15:24] into a trust for these children? Why

[15:26] would they give it to their father

[15:28] knowing what kind of person he is if

[15:30] they truly didn't believe that? So, I

[15:32] think what they ought to do is they

[15:33] ought to step up to the plate. They

[15:35] ought to give the money to the children

[15:36] and then some. Take care of these

[15:38] children. Take care of them. It really

[15:40] got out of hand. Another twist is that

[15:42] Newsweek magazine now reports that ABC

[15:44] paid News Corp a kill fee as much as a

[15:47] million dollars when Barbara Walters

[15:48] decided not to do an interview with OJ

[15:50] Simpson. Any reaction?

[15:52] >> Really?

[15:53] >> That's

[15:53] >> right on. Barbara, [laughter]

[15:55] >> something else to add to the list of

[15:57] something News Corp should correct.

[16:00] >> And uh I I understand exactly what

[16:01] Denise is saying. If you if you look at

[16:03] the way this is this is coming out, New

[16:05] Scorp tries to make its decision

[16:07] palatable by saying that we thought the

[16:08] money was going to the children. I mean

[16:10] the bottom line is any kind of business

[16:13] deal they would do their due diligence.

[16:14] They would make sure that it goes to the

[16:16] right source. They would make sure that

[16:18] it's put in some sort of a fashion that

[16:19] it does go to the children. They did not

[16:21] want to do any of it. And the only

[16:22] reason they're saying that now is to

[16:23] make their decision more palatable. It

[16:25] can be made more palatable

[16:26] >> in the end. Denise, are you very bugged

[16:28] that OJ made money?

[16:31] Yeah, because you know what? If

[16:33] everybody thought it was going to the

[16:34] kids and then he comes out and says he

[16:36] paid his taxes with it. I mean, please.

[16:41] I'm no fool. It just it does irritate

[16:43] me. Yes, it does bother me a lot.

[16:45] >> We have an email from Barbara in Mission

[16:47] Vo, California. Question is, are you and

[16:49] your parents able to have a relationship

[16:51] with the Simpson kids? How often do you

[16:53] get to see them?

[16:54] >> Uh, they go to school on the east coast,

[16:56] but yes, my mother has a relationship

[16:58] with Sydney and Justin. She speaks to

[17:00] them as much as possible. Um, when they

[17:02] return my calls, I talk to them as well.

[17:05] But yeah, no, we have a relationship

[17:06] with them. That's good.

[17:08] >> How old are they now?

[17:09] >> 21 and 18.

[17:11] >> Yeah, they're young adults. They're not

[17:13] even kids anymore. And when we remember

[17:15] them, I mean, way back when, I mean,

[17:16] they were just little types.

[17:18] >> How do you think they handle a

[17:19] relationship with their dad?

[17:20] >> I have no idea.

[17:22] >> You know, Larry, I don't know. I know

[17:23] they love their father and uh it's their

[17:25] father and that's the only parent that

[17:27] they have left and they want to believe

[17:29] him and they want to believe the things

[17:31] that he says but the things that he does

[17:33] are just like I just don't even get it

[17:35] you know I don't know how how he could

[17:37] put his kids into a position like this

[17:39] and that's the sad part for me because

[17:41] all of a sudden I mean what he was going

[17:42] to write this book on how to murder

[17:44] their mother what can't they read

[17:46] anymore can't they hear of what's going

[17:48] on do they not listen to the news I mean

[17:51] to me it's sad don't you feel No one's

[17:53] going to publish this book.

[17:54] >> I hope not. I really hope not. For the

[17:56] sake of the kids, for the sake of my

[17:57] mother and father, uh, for our family,

[18:00] for for victims of domestic violence,

[18:03] don't print a book that shows you how to

[18:05] kill somebody. Please, for God's sakes,

[18:08] don't do that.

[18:27] stairs

[18:28] and um

[18:32] [snorts]

[18:35] grabbed Nicole, told her to get out of

[18:37] his house, wanted us all out of his

[18:40] house.

[18:42] [snorts] Picked her up, threw her

[18:44] against the wall,

[18:48] picked her up, threw her out of the

[18:50] house.

[21:22] Dog the bounty hunter and prisoner. Plus

[21:24] Senator John Ky, Larry Kane. Tomorrow 9

[21:26] Eastern.

[21:29] >> We know with today's world of the

[21:32] internet and the like, someone's going

[21:34] to probably print that book, right?

[21:36] >> Yeah. And I I I definitely think that's

[21:38] going to end up it's going to end up in

[21:39] somebody's hands and we're going to read

[21:41] excerpts about it and it's going to be

[21:42] on the black market somewhere. But I

[21:43] think if nothing else, this what

[21:45] happened in the last couple of days that

[21:47] the fact that the country got behind

[21:49] what we did and once again supported our

[21:52] efforts um to send a message that this

[21:54] is not this is not appropriate. So if

[21:56] anyone wants to enter into an agreement

[21:58] with him again and we find out about it,

[22:00] we're not going away.

[22:03] >> I understand Natasha Wright that you've

[22:05] asked News Corp to sort of guarantee

[22:08] that it doesn't get anywhere. Can they

[22:10] do that?

[22:11] >> Sure. Of course they can. They're the

[22:12] holders of the copyright. They have the

[22:14] standing. They have the ability, the

[22:15] money, the legal team, the wherewithal.

[22:18] And at this juncture, they're really

[22:19] looking to to the Brown family and and

[22:21] to to me, frankly, to to stem this tide.

[22:24] And I think that's we're doing that.

[22:25] We're doing everything we can. But think

[22:27] about it. The Brown family's been

[22:28] through the criminal case, the civil

[22:30] case, the custody case, and the appeals.

[22:33] They have the standing. They have the

[22:34] obligation, opportunity.

[22:36] >> What can News Corp do now? What do you

[22:37] want them to do? I want I I've made very

[22:39] specific demands on them in in a letter

[22:40] to which they've not responded. I want

[22:42] them to I mean they have publications.

[22:45] They can take out a full page ad the

[22:46] same kind of advertising they did for

[22:48] the book. They can take out an ad and

[22:49] say anyone who tries to put out a book

[22:52] that is really a stolen book because

[22:54] it's infringement of a copyright. We're

[22:56] going to come after you with the full

[22:57] force of Rupert Murdoch and News Corp.

[22:59] Where is that kind of an approach? We

[23:02] certainly had had a ton of press when

[23:03] the show was going to go on. If they

[23:05] really mean the apology and they're

[23:07] truly sorry, put your money where your

[23:09] mouth is. Do something that actually is

[23:11] right. Don't make a hollow apology as

[23:13] corporations have a tendency to

[23:14] >> They haven't answered you.

[23:15] >> No, I asked them to do it by noon today

[23:17] and and uh I've heard nothing. The only

[23:19] time I've had communications with them

[23:20] was when there was a swell of negative

[23:22] publicity and now they've gone back to

[23:24] their respective offices and have not

[23:26] talked to us.

[23:26] >> What would be the point, Denise? Why

[23:28] would they not do that?

[23:29] >> I don't know. I don't know. Because

[23:31] their apology means nothing. Evidently,

[23:35] um I don't understand why they won't

[23:38] help out. They've met one of the

[23:40] demands, which is what the

[23:41] >> Well, they they provided us some of the

[23:43] information, including the name that I

[23:44] provided you with today. But honestly, I

[23:46] I think it comes down to corporate

[23:47] responsibility and accountability. And

[23:49] and I I hate to
