[0:20] season 2002.
[0:22] Good evening. Two major wildfires in
[0:24] southern Oregon inch closer together
[0:26] tonight. There is no clear sign of
[0:28] containment, so people who live near the
[0:30] flames are being forced to make the
[0:31] critical decision whether to pack up and
[0:33] leave their homes. Today, fire
[0:35] commanders called in reinforcements as
[0:37] Oregon remains the nation's top priority
[0:39] for scarce firefighters and equipment.
[0:41] Here is the latest. 15 major wildfires
[0:44] burning on more than 423,000 acres.
[0:47] Nearly 13,000 firefighters are on the
[0:50] fire lines in Oregon. The top priorities
[0:52] for firefighters are the Florence fire,
[0:54] the Timbered Rock fire, the Cash
[0:57] Mountain fire, the Sheldon Ridge fire,
[0:59] and the Sour Biscuit Fire. So far, it
[1:02] has cost the state more than $47 million
[1:05] to fight the fires.
[1:06] >> Firefighters chainsawed landscaping
[1:08] around threatened homes and stood ready
[1:09] to torch off backfires today. They're
[1:12] trying to block the 30 m long eastern
[1:14] front of fires burning in the
[1:16] smokefilled Illinois Valley near the
[1:18] Florence and Biscuit Fire Complex. Live
[1:20] Team 12 coverage begins tonight with
