[0:01] in minority middle-class households of
[0:03] children who identify intellectual
[0:06] achievement with acting white. The
[0:10] achievement gap is a subject that
[0:11] educators have never been comfortable
[0:13] discussing because of worries over
[0:15] charges of racism. This report by a

[0:27] >> Black students in the country have made
[0:29] progress. The College Board says the gap
[0:30] in math scores between black and white

[1:04] says that violent crime in the country
[1:06] is now at its lowest level since the
[1:08] crack cocaine epidemic began more than a
[1:11] decade ago. The number of rapes,
[1:13] robberies, and assaults has gone down 6%
[1:16] since last year. The criminologists site
[1:18] several reasons, including tougher
[1:20] prison time and less crack being used.
[1:24] On the subject of crime, more than a
[1:25] million cars were stolen in the United
[1:27] States last year. So, in a moment, we'll
[1:29] take a closer look at where they're
[1:31] going now.
