[0:00] I'm going to share with you the five
[0:01] things I do with each and every single
[0:04] email that enters my inbox so that I
[0:07] only ever have to touch each email once.
[0:10] First, the essentials. It's actually
[0:13] easier to maintain your inbox once it's
[0:15] empty than to get there in the first
[0:17] place. So, let's do the simple stuff.
[0:19] Unsubscribe from every newsletter,
[0:22] notification list, and broadcast list
[0:25] that isn't absolutely essential. Second,
[0:28] strip email down to its core function.
[0:31] We have to stop using email for
[0:33] everything and start using it only for
[0:35] what it does better than any other tool,
[0:38] collecting new inputs. Third, we're
[0:42] going to set up your downstream systems.
[0:45] See, the reason your email is
[0:47] overflowing is that you likely don't
[0:49] have anywhere for it to go. Instead, all
[0:52] you need to do is set up these four
[0:54] essential productivity systems. A
[0:57] calendar app that syncs to every device.
[1:00] You need a task manager to capture, and
[1:03] this is the important part, link back to
[1:06] tasks that arrive in your email. Third,
[1:08] you need a reference app, a digital
[1:11] notes app for storing files and key
[1:13] information. And finally, you need a
[1:16] read later app to save all the things
[1:18] that you want to read or watch later.
[1:20] Step four, it's time to streamline your
[1:23] workflow. Instead of checking email
[1:26] before you start work, we want to create
[1:28] a small habit that allows us to process
[1:31] quickly dozens of emails within 10 or 15
[1:35] or 20 minutes. So then we can get to the
[1:37] real work without the feeling that
[1:39] there's a ticking bomb in our inbox.
[1:41] Step five, make
