[0:00] Tonight,

[0:03] the holiday rush and crush. Jam-packed

[0:05] airports and highways as Americans

[0:08] prepare to give thanks. I'm Russ

[0:10] Mitchell. Also tonight, a sticker shock.

[0:13] Higher prices mean tough choices. Will

[0:15] you fill your tank or fill your cup?

[0:17] >> I have to keep my home. I have to have

[0:20] hot water. I have to put gas in my car.

[0:24] >> Plus, online stalking. How teenagers

[0:26] unwittingly play into the hands of

[0:27] predators.

[0:29] and a treasure in the classroom. The old

[0:31] school teacher who sure doesn't act her

[0:34] age.

[0:34] >> I'm cool.

[0:40] >> This is the CBS Evening News with Katie

[0:43] Kurrick.

[0:46] >> And good evening. Katie is on assignment

[0:48] tonight. At this hour, a good number of

[0:50] Americans are on their way to spend the

[0:52] Thanksgiving holiday with family and

[0:53] friends. Nearly 39 million are expected

[0:55] to travel at least 50 miles. That's a

[0:57] new record. But getting there is not

[0:59] half the fun, especially with a band of

[1:01] storms moving eastward. Snow is expected

[1:04] this evening in Chicago, where O'Hare

[1:06] airport serves as a vital hub for

[1:07] travelers. Here's Dean Reynolds.

[1:10] >> Went back to Miami.

[1:11] >> Undaunted by talk of delays or

[1:13] cancellations. Intrepid Thanksgiving

[1:15] travelers fell into line at airports

[1:17] across the nation today, hoping their

[1:19] trip would not be a turkey.

[1:21] >> We got our books and we got our snacks

[1:23] and uh so we're ready to understand that

[1:26] we could have some delays. Delays, you

[1:28] can see them there in yellow on the

[1:30] board, started early thanks to pea soup

[1:32] fog in the east, sheets of rain in the

[1:35] Midwest, and an untimely snowfall in the

[1:37] West. A map
