[0:05] getting exciting uh the first 20

[0:08] chapters have been about the tribulation

[0:11] period and the judgment of god and we

[0:14] left off with the great white throne

[0:15] judgment and people being

[0:17] cast in the lake of fire for all

[0:19] eternity

[0:20] but now we're in chapter 21 it gets

[0:24] better and better from this point

[0:26] forward

[0:27] so in chapter 21 of the book of

[0:28] revelation let's look at verse number

[0:30] one he says and i saw a new heaven and a

[0:34] new earth for the first heaven and the

[0:36] first earth were passed away and there

[0:38] was no more seed

[0:40] and i john saw the holy city new

[0:43] jerusalem coming down from god out of

[0:46] heaven prepared as a bride adorned for

[0:49] her husband and i heard a great voice

[0:52] out of heaven saying behold the

[0:54] tabernacle of god is with men and he

[0:57] will dwell with them and they shall be

[0:59] his people and god himself shall be with

[1:02] them and be their god

[1:05] and god shall wipe away all tears from

[1:07] their eyes and there shall be no more

[1:10] death neither sorrow nor crying neither

[1:13] shall there be any more pain for the

[1:15] former things are passed away

[1:18] and he that sat upon the throne said

[1:20] behold i make all things new

[1:24] and he said unto me right for these

[1:26] words are true and faithful he said unto

[1:30] me it

[1:31] is

[1:32] done

[1:33] i am alpha and omega the beginning and

[1:37] the end i will give unto him that is a

[1:40] thirst of the fountain of water of life

[1:43] freely

[1:44] he that overcometh shall inherit all

[1:47] things and i will be his god and he

[1:50] shall be my son

[1:52] now up until this point the book of

[1:54] revelation has shown some devastation of

[1:57] the tribulation period satan judgment

[2:01] hell and the lake of fire just to name a

[2:04] few things

[2:05] the battles between good and evil are

[2:08] finished and things change

[2:10] it's all done because this time would

[2:13] come when the victories of christ would

[2:16] culminate and the heavenly jerusalem

[2:18] would come to earth

[2:20] what a grand time it will be

[2:23] when

[2:24] heaven is finally fully realized

[2:28] you'll live your life for christ with

[2:30] all the troubles in this life that it

[2:32] brings

[2:34] but

[2:35] you do it because there's a confidence

[2:37] knowing that one day

[2:40] one day this world will not be your home

[2:42] anymore

[2:44] you'll be in heaven with god

[2:46] knowing that the tone day the reward and

[2:49] the joy of heaven will be yours

[2:51] now not much is written about heaven in

[2:53] the bible

[2:54] yet there is enough written that we get

[2:57] an understanding that heaven now

[3:00] only exists but is not only exists but

[3:03] it's worth looking forward to

[3:06] perhaps little is said about heaven and

[3:08] the bible because as someone has said

[3:10] if we knew all there was about heaven

[3:13] we would become so heavily minded that

[3:16] we'd be of no earthly good

[3:18] if christians got a true glimpse of what

[3:20] heaven was

[3:22] they might compare what is on earth to

[3:24] what is in heaven and gain a what's the

[3:27] use attitude about work on earth

[3:30] paul experienced this in philippians

[3:32] chapter 1 verses 21 and 2 corinthians 12

[3:35] verses 1 through 10.

[3:37] from this point forward of chapter 21

[3:40] all these events are

[3:42] post-millennial events that happen after

[3:44] the millennial kingdom

[3:47] and satan and all of wicked humanity

[3:49] have perished

[3:51] and the redeemed are experiencing all

[3:53] things

[3:54] new

[3:55] now as expected heaven

[3:58] excuse me as expected heaven also known

[4:00] as the new jerusalem becomes the focus

[4:03] of the final two chapters of revelation

[4:06] jesus told his disciples about 2000

[4:08] years ago that he was going to my

[4:10] father's house heaven to prepare a place

[4:14] for you john 14 2 if god created what we

[4:18] enjoy today in this world in just six

[4:20] days

[4:21] having been preparing the place in

[4:23] heaven for over 2 000 years can you

[4:26] imagine what that place must look like

[4:29] in solomon's frustration he said in

[4:31] ecclesiastes 1 9 the latter part of the

[4:33] verse there's no new thing under the sun

[4:37] in the days of revelation 21 and 22

[4:40] speak of everything will be new

[4:43] second peter 3 13 peter wrote

[4:45] nevertheless we according to his promise

[4:49] look for a new heavens and a new earth

[4:52] wherein dwelleth righteousness also

[4:54] isaiah 66 22 and hebrews 11 10.

[4:58] so the passing of the old order

[5:03] the purpose of the passing of the old

[5:04] order was to make way for the new order

[5:08] no no details are given how or to what

[5:11] extent this will take place in the text

[5:14] but one must get a hint

[5:17] to look at the other scriptures such as

[5:19] second peter 3 verses 6 through 14

[5:22] isaiah 65 17 and ephesians 2 1-2

[5:26] and 6-12 to get a hint of why this takes

[5:30] place

[5:31] it appears that it is god's plan to

[5:33] purge everything from sin

[5:35] and its influences that are in the world

[5:38] sin has corrupted this world sin has

[5:41] corrupted the heavens but god's gonna

[5:43] create all things new

[5:46] a new heavens and a new earth

[5:49] the new heaven see second peter 3 13

[5:52] peter uses the word heaven's plural

[5:54] which means that there's more than one

[5:56] heaven

[5:57] one more than one abode of god

[5:59] though there is debate over this it

[6:01] seems

[6:02] logical to assume the consummation of

[6:05] the ages involves the first and second

[6:08] heavens that because that became the

[6:11] domain of satan he's the prince and

[6:13] power of the air

[6:15] and we battle spiritual wickedness in

[6:17] high places it must be destroyed

[6:20] in scriptures there's three heavens

[6:22] mentioned the first heaven is the

[6:25] atmosphere which we call the air it's

[6:27] also called the firmament in genesis

[6:29] chapter one the windows of heaven were

[6:32] opened during the flood genesis 7 11 and

[6:36] 8 2

[6:38] now the second heaven is the celestial

[6:40] heaven and includes the stars of the

[6:42] universe and the planets genesis 1 14

[6:45] and genesis 15 5. the third heavens

[6:48] called in scripture paradise and it's

[6:51] the abode of god second corinthians

[6:53] chapter 12 verses 2 through 4

[6:56] so there's the new heaven and then

[6:59] there's a new earth now the old earth

[7:01] has passed away with fire

[7:03] according to second peter 3 6-14

[7:07] now there's two differing opinions about

[7:09] this process number one

[7:11] opinion is annihilation

[7:14] this says that the heavens and earth

[7:15] will be completely destroyed and

[7:18] annihilated that god will create

[7:21] something completely new

[7:23] a new earth and a new heaven out of

[7:25] nothing

[7:26] as he did in genesis 1 2.

[7:28] and if you see isaiah 65 17 the word

[7:32] create refers to the creation of

[7:34] something from nothing

[7:37] now the second view first is

[7:39] annihilation the second view is of

[7:41] renovation psalm 104 verse 5

[7:44] says the earth should not be removed

[7:46] forever

[7:47] hebrews 1 10-12 says they shall be

[7:50] changed

[7:51] another thought is that of regeneration

[7:54] when a man is saved he becomes a new

[7:56] creature in christ second corinthians 5

[7:59] 17.

[8:00] see psalm 102 verses 25-26

[8:04] one thing is certain the earth is a bomb

[8:08] filled with burning fires that explode

[8:10] into volcanoes

[8:12] obviously if hell is in the earth and

[8:14] it's cast in the lake of fire

[8:16] then this earth needs purging from its

[8:19] effects

[8:20] much like when the earth was deluged

[8:22] with the flood in the days of noah

[8:25] so it's either annihilation or it's

[8:28] renovation either way

[8:31] there's a new heaven and a new earth

[8:33] god's going to create it

[8:35] there's now there's a presentation in

[8:37] verse 2 we talked about it i john saw

[8:40] the holy city new jerusalem coming down

[8:43] from god out of heaven prepared as a

[8:46] bride adorned for her husband

[8:48] new jerusalem now this is not present

[8:51] jerusalem in israel

[8:52] which is called sodom in revelation

[8:54] chapter 11 verse 8. it is the glorious

[8:57] city of god

[8:59] that is four square and is later

[9:00] described in verses 10 through 27 and

[9:03] we're not going to get there today

[9:05] you're going to have to come back and

[9:07] watch another video to see the

[9:09] description of new jerusalem

[9:12] but it's prepared

[9:14] there's no doubt to the place that jesus

[9:16] went to prepare in john 14 2-3 when he

[9:19] said i go to prepare a place for you it

[9:22] is a prepared place for prepared people

[9:25] this preparation can only be made

[9:26] through having a personal relationship

[9:29] with jesus christ as your savior

[9:31] it was prepared through salvation

[9:33] through christ's blood i want you to

[9:36] think about that this morning

[9:38] you've got a reservation for a place in

[9:41] heaven that's being prepared for you as

[9:44] we speak right now god is preparing a

[9:47] place for you that ought to bring you

[9:49] some excitement and some joy you ought

[9:51] to be a put a smile on your face and be

[9:54] happy today that god's got a place he's

[9:56] preparing for you

[9:58] it comes down from heaven

[10:01] now some think that it actually won't be

[10:03] on earth

[10:04] but that it will be the center of the

[10:06] universe

[10:07] for god will make his abode there

[10:10] literally a heaven on earth

[10:13] or at least above it hebrews 11 10

[10:15] abraham looked for a city which hath

[10:17] foundations

[10:19] whose builder and maker is

[10:22] god

[10:23] so some believe it'll come down and

[10:24] hover above

[10:26] earth some may believe that it may come

[10:28] down and touch earth so maybe

[10:30] leave it's in the center of the universe

[10:33] and it's heaven earth either way it's a

[10:35] prepared place that god has for us and

[10:38] it's going to be an awesome sight to

[10:40] behold

[10:42] it's prepared as a bride adorned for her

[10:45] husband this is to be the eternal home

[10:47] of the bride of christ or the church

[10:50] however the city is not itself the

[10:53] church but a dwelling place for it much

[10:56] like the building isn't the church

[10:58] though it's often called that rather

[11:00] it's the people that make up the church

[11:03] it will be accessible to all nations on

[11:06] earth and so

[11:07] again this is post-millennial this is

[11:11] after the great white throne judgment

[11:13] when god makes all things

[11:16] new

[11:17] verses three through seven he talks more

[11:20] about it he says there's a new

[11:21] relationship god will tabernacle with

[11:25] men now this was done once for a short

[11:27] period of time

[11:29] john 1 14 said that the word dwelt means

[11:32] tabernacle

[11:34] among us jesus the son of god came to

[11:37] earth for 33 years and tabernacled among

[11:40] men the whole idea of the old testament

[11:43] tabernacle

[11:45] was

[11:45] so that men could fellowship with god

[11:48] and you'd find that in leviticus chapter

[11:50] 26 verse 11 and 12 ezekiel 37 verse 17

[11:55] it literally means the place where god

[11:58] dwells

[12:00] so there's a new relationship there's a

[12:02] new society there'll be no more tears

[12:06] no more death

[12:09] no more sorrow

[12:11] no more crying or pain

[12:14] heaven is described

[12:17] but not what it is there but what is not

[12:21] there

[12:22] it's not described as all the things

[12:24] that are there but what's not there

[12:25] there's no death sorrow tears crying

[12:28] heaven is described

[12:30] with a lot of negatives

[12:32] what paul said of heaven and second

[12:34] corinthians 12 4 that it is not lawful

[12:36] for a man to utter

[12:38] what he heard and

[12:40] saw

[12:41] so the things that are in heaven are

[12:43] beyond our imagination

[12:45] now we're going to look at the next two

[12:47] chapters of the book of revelation

[12:49] describe it more to you from what the

[12:51] bible's definition is but it's beyond

[12:54] our comprehension the gloriness

[12:57] of heaven i don't know if gloriness is a

[12:59] word but the gloriousness there we go of

[13:02] heaven

[13:04] there's all things new

[13:06] now imagine the joy of the giver who has

[13:09] prepared all of this for his children

[13:12] the excitement the anticipation the

[13:15] presentation

[13:16] then imagine the thrill and joy of those

[13:18] who receive this it'll be like christmas

[13:21] morning all things new

[13:23] this is comparable to what it takes

[13:25] place at salvation

[13:27] even our physical bodies will be new

[13:30] no more rock titanium rods cadaver bones

[13:33] and brackets for this preacher it'll be

[13:35] gone i'll have a glorified new body

[13:39] no more tears no more pain

[13:41] a new realization christ is deity

[13:45] now we know this he is god but

[13:48] really to comprehend this he's the alpha

[13:51] and omega he's the beginning and the end

[13:53] the element of time can be measured but

[13:56] eternity cannot

[13:57] he says that he is god and there is no

[14:00] other

[14:02] also become aware of our new position

[14:04] as children of god during this time it's

[14:07] like a mother who had the scars that her

[14:09] children hated but later loved because

[14:12] they learned those scars were made for

[14:14] them through a disaster that she saved

[14:16] them from

[14:17] how precious a relationship we enjoy now

[14:20] as believers

[14:21] but how much more will we enjoy it when

[14:23] we come to know him as he is

[14:28] all things new a new heaven and a new

[14:31] earth and what a joyous time

[14:34] that will be

[14:35] and i'm looking forward to going to

[14:37] heaven how about you

[14:43] accepted jesus christ as my savior i

[14:46] know as first john 5 13 says that i have

[14:50] a home in heaven these things have i

[14:52] written unto you john said that ye may

[14:56] eternal life
