[10:48] time you know can you pray like can we

[12:53] verse number 32 Matthew Mark Luke and

[12:56] John are what are known as the synoptic

[12:58] Gospels

[12:59] they give us three different views of

[13:02] the same event three different views of

[13:06] the same event but they're all tied in

[13:09] together Mark

[13:10] 14 verse number

[13:13] 32 and they came to a place which was

[13:16] named Gethsemane and he saith to his

[13:19] disciples sit ye here while I shall pray

[13:24] and he taketh with him Peter James and

[13:28] John and began to be sore

[13:32] amazed and to be

[13:36] very ve to be very

[13:39] heavy and saith unto them my soul is

[13:44] exceeding sorrowful unto death Terry ye

[13:50] here and

[13:52] watch and he went forward a little and

[13:55] fell on the ground and prayed that that

[13:59] if it were possible the hour might pass

[17:10] drink it thy will be done he came and

[17:17] found them asleep again for their eyes

[17:20] were heavy and he left them and went

[17:22] away again and prayed the third time

[17:25] saying the same words then cometh he to

[17:29] the disciples and saith unto them sleep

[17:31] on now take your rest behold the hour is

[17:36] at hand and the son of man is betrayed

[17:53] me Jesus prayed in the garden and it

[17:58] gives us an

[18:00] illustration of how we ought to pray and

[18:03] some character elements in praying so if

[18:07] you would bow your heads for just a

[18:09] moment as we talk to the Lord tonight

[18:13] and try to consider him and how to pray

[18:19] like Jesus tonight dear heavenly father

[18:21] Lord I Thank you for the opportunity to

[18:23] preach your word tonight Lord I pray if

[18:26] you would please cleanse me of sin and

[18:28] empty me of my myself that I might get

[18:30] out of the way tonight and your word may

[18:32] go forth Lord I pray that you'd speak to

[18:34] our hearts tonight challenge us from

[18:36] your word help us to consider you in our

[18:41] time together in your name I pray amen

[18:46] as you look in Matthew Mark Luke and

[18:49] even here in just a moment we'll see it

[18:51] in John

[18:52] 18 when it came to Jesus and his prayer

[18:56] life I think a first element that we

[18:59] ought to pay attention to is that Jesus

[19:03] had a

[19:06] place he had a habit of going to a

[19:11] place he often went to the Garden to

[19:15] pray he often went to the Mount of

[19:18] Olives to pray in fact John chapter 18

[19:21] if you would turn there I want to read

[19:23] you two

[19:24] verses now John 1415 and 16

[19:31] and in part of chapter 17 reveal for us

[19:35] Jesus's prayer and what he was talking

[19:39] to the disciples about on the way to the

[19:42] garden chapter

[19:44] 18 verse number one when Jesus had

[19:48] spoken these words the prayer there in

[19:50] chapter

[19:52] 17 he went forth with his disciples over

[19:57] the book kedron

[19:59] where was a garden into which he entered

[20:03] and his

[20:05] disciples and Judas also which betrayed

[20:09] him knew the place for Jesus oft

[20:16] times resorted thither with his

[20:21] disciples the first element in praying

[20:24] like Jesus is to have a place to have a

[20:29] place like him that you go

[20:32] to do you have a

[20:35] place to pray like Jesus you need a

[20:38] place a place where you get alone with

[20:41] God you get away from the distractions

[20:44] of the world he had a place and he went

[20:48] to that place

[20:50] often often he had an often prayer life

[20:55] he went to that place often we saw it in

[20:58] Matthew we saw it in Mark and we saw it

[21:01] in Luke he had a place that he went to

[21:04] and he went to that place

[21:06] often if you're going to pray like Jesus

[21:08] you have to have a onp purpose place

[21:11] that you go to in your prayer

[21:14] time life will distract you you need a

[21:19] place now it can be a

[21:21] mindset place it could be a physical

[21:24] location Place both of those are

[21:27] important in your prayer time you're

[21:30] getting away

[21:31] away to get

[21:34] alone if you don't get away to get alone

[21:37] you'll get distracted from being alone

[21:40] with God so you got to get away from

[21:43] being alone to be alone with God so he

[21:46] had a place you'll notice as John tells

[21:50] us in Matthew and

[21:52] Mark and Luke that he had people to pray

[21:58] with him

[22:00] he took his disciples to pray with him

[22:02] Judas knew the place he'd been there

[22:04] before with Jesus now let's pause for a

[22:06] moment and think about that he took the

[22:09] future betrayer to the prayer

[22:12] meeting he took the future

[22:15] denier of him that would happen within

[22:19] hours to the prayer meeting see don't

[22:22] look and say well there's nobody

[22:25] spiritual enough to pray for me

[22:29] everybody's got a

[22:31] story but if people can go get a hold of

[22:34] God you ought to ask them to pray with

[22:36] you so he prayed with the disciples he

[22:39] prayed took people to pray with him and

[22:41] we find that it is

[22:44] difficult and hard for

[22:47] people to ask other people to help them

[22:52] with their

[22:55] burden it is difficult and hard hard for

[22:59] many people to ask for others to help

[23:03] with their

[23:04] burden but if we have the eyes of

[23:08] Christ we ought to

[23:11] know when

[23:13] others have a

[23:17] burden the eyes of Christ open our minds

[23:20] to say there's something I can pray for

[23:23] you

[23:24] about you seem to be carrying a heavy

[23:28] load

[23:31] now don't always carry the load of a

[23:35] burden and think well I'm just waiting

[23:37] for somebody else to come ask me about

[23:39] my burden the Holy Spirit might direct

[23:42] you to share your burden with someone

[23:44] else Bible talks about bear ye one

[23:48] another's

[23:51] burdens jesus takes his disciples to the

[23:56] Garden the 11 are there Jud Judas is not

[23:59] there the 11 disciples are

[24:03] there he takes three of them a little

[24:05] farther some state in one party takes

[24:07] Peter James and John and they go a

[24:09] little

[24:11] farther and he encourages them to

[24:14] watch and to

[24:17] pray to watch and to

[24:20] pray he says watch and pray that ye

[24:23] enter not into

[24:26] temptation so he encourages him to watch

[24:28] Watch and Pray so he has these people

[24:30] with him and then to pray like Jesus you

[24:33] have to have a place and you need to

[24:35] have people to pray you're not the

[24:37] spiritual life is not like The Lone

[24:39] Ranger that you got to do it all on your

[24:42] own even The Lone Ranger had

[24:45] Tonto you need someone Christ God did

[24:50] not design us to go through life

[24:53] alone but often in the spiritual realm

[24:56] we become Island

[24:59] of isolation and it becomes the I Island

[25:04] i instead of allowing others to pray

[25:08] with us you'll notice also that Jesus

[25:11] bowed to pray it says he fell on his

[25:13] face he bowed to

[25:15] pray think about that for a

[25:18] moment the god of the universe

[25:22] bowed in a

[25:24] garden to recognize who he was praying

[25:28] to too he called him ABA father in one

[25:31] of the accounts he prayed father if it

[25:35] be possible father he bowed himself to

[25:40] pray he humbled himself if you're going

[25:43] to pray like Jesus you can't pray

[25:47] proud you got to pray

[25:50] humble let's think about it in the

[25:54] beginning God created the heavens and

[25:57] the Earth and the Earth was that and he

[25:58] and they said let us make man in our own

[26:01] image Christ was there in fact the the

[26:04] Bible tells us that all things were

[26:06] created by

[26:10] Him Christ was there when the worlds

[26:13] were created Christ formed Man Out of

[26:16] the Dust of the ground and yet when it

[26:18] came time to pray he humbled

[26:21] himself so if we're going to pray like

[26:24] Jesus it's got to be a humble prayer

[26:28] don't come with pride to the throne room

[26:30] of God humble

[26:34] yourself I I enjoy watching football at

[26:37] times and I I like when a good running

[26:41] back runs over

[26:43] people it's fun to watch I like it when

[26:47] a good running back takes his hand and

[26:49] he stiff arms a guy in his helmet and

[26:51] the guy gets knocked down the running

[26:52] back keeps going it's fun to

[26:55] watch but when I read the verses in

[26:57] Proverbs that tells us that God

[26:59] resisteth the proud and giveth grace to

[27:03] the humble you know what I picture in my

[27:04] mind God stiff arming a proud person and

[27:08] knocking them down he's resisting them

[27:12] he's not allowing them to do what they

[27:15] want to do God resisteth the proud he

[27:17] knocks them

[27:19] down Pride goeth Before Destruction and

[27:22] a hotty spirit before a

[27:25] fall as we think about Jesus and we're

[27:27] going to have a place to pray we're

[27:29] going to need people to pray with we're

[27:31] going to Humble ourselves and bow

[27:33] ourselves in

[27:34] prayer I want to draw your attention to

[27:38] the account in Mark chapter number

[27:42] 14 let's look at Mark chapter number

[27:46] 14 and we're going to go back and forth

[27:49] here so hope you brought your Bible

[27:54] tonight in Mark 14

[27:58] in verse 33 he's taken Peter James and

[28:01] John he's taken others with him he began

[28:05] to be sore amazed and to be very

[28:10] heavy and he saith unto them my soul is

[28:14] exceeding sorrowful unto

[28:17] death T ye here and

[28:23] watch it's heavy on him now wait he's

[28:30] omnipotent he's all

[28:33] powerful but he's also 100%

[28:38] human and the

[28:40] 100% human side of God his flesh in the

[28:46] garden was

[28:48] sorrowful was

[28:51] Heavy if you go to the Luke account in

[28:53] Luke

[28:54] 22 I want you to think about this in

[28:57] your mind and picture the garden and

[29:00] picture Christ here as he gets into the

[29:06] garden

[29:08] he comes to a point and he prays verse

[29:13] 42 father if thou be willing remove this

[29:16] cup from me nevertheless not my will but

[29:18] thine be done verse 43 you might want to

[29:22] underline this verse and think about it

[29:24] more later on and there appeared an

[29:27] angel un to him from Heaven

[29:30] strengthening

[29:34] him why did the omnipotent all knowing

[29:38] omniscient all powerful all presentent

[29:42] God need

[29:45] strengthening have you ever thought

[29:47] about

[29:48] it it's because the 100% human side

[29:53] needed strengthening

[29:59] what part of his 100% human side needed

[30:06] strengthening is it his

[30:10] spirit is it his

[30:14] soul there's only one part that needed

[30:17] it it's his

[30:20] flesh his flesh in this moment is

[30:25] weak it's sorrowful it's heavy now let

[30:30] me help paint the

[30:32] picture verse 43 the angel shows up it

[30:36] strengthens him look at verse

[30:40] 44 the angel has strengthened him but

[30:44] and being in

[30:46] agony he prayed more

[30:50] earnestly and his sweat was as it were

[30:52] great drops of blood falling down to the

[30:55] ground that's after the angel

[31:00] came after the angel strengthened his

[31:03] flesh what was ahead for The Human Side

[31:07] Of God was such an Agony was so heavy

[31:12] that he prayed more

[31:15] earnestly and it says that his sweat was

[31:17] as great drops of blood that fell to the

[31:20] ground it's a heavy load he's

[31:25] under his human side is weak three three

[31:28] different times he goes to the father in

[31:32] prayer and says father if it be possible

[31:34] let this cup pass from

[31:37] me if it be possible if it be possible

[31:41] nevertheless not my will but thine be

[31:44] done why would he be asking if it be

[31:50] possible because this Human Side is

[31:54] heavy his God side knows what's ahead

[31:57] and his human side doesn't want to go

[32:00] through

[32:01] it but the god side of him loved us so

[32:05] much that he was willing to go to the

[32:10] cross and suffer for you and for

[32:14] me it continues go to Matthew chapter

[32:25] 26 verse number 38

[32:29] my soul is exceeding

[32:34] sorrowful even unto death Terry you he

[32:39] and watch with

[32:41] me and he went a little further and he

[32:43] fell on his face and he prays that

[32:45] prayer that we're familiar

[32:48] with he comes to his disciples and he

[32:51] finds them asleep and he saith unto

[33:23] possible if it be possible you're going

[33:26] to pray like Jesus number four

[33:29] tonight he was

[33:31] emotional when he

[33:34] prayed I put it this way he was raw with

[33:38] what he

[33:41] felt don't pretend to be strong when

[33:45] you're coming to the throne room of God

[33:48] God cares how you feel and he wants to

[33:52] hear from you how you feel

[33:58] don't pretend to be a super Christian

[34:00] when you know you're

[34:02] not don't pretend to be strong and say I

[34:05] can come boldly to the throne room when

[34:07] really you're crawling

[34:10] in Jesus himself is

[34:13] sorrowful Jesus himself is exceeding

[34:17] sorrowful he's not just sorrowful he's

[34:20] exceeding sorrowful he even describes it

[34:22] as even unto death hey that's not an

[34:26] exaggeration

[34:29] that is how he's really

[34:32] feeling his soul is exceeding sorrowful

[34:35] even unto

[34:37] death he's not exaggerating he's not

[34:41] speaking in extremes he is revealing his

[34:45] heart is exceeding

[34:48] sorrowful even unto death if you're

[34:51] going to pray like Jesus you have to

[34:53] pray how you feel

[34:58] sometimes you're going to find yourself

[34:59] praying

[35:01] angry cuz you

[35:05] are and as you come to God you say God

[35:08] I'm so

[35:10] angry if your heart's right he's going

[35:14] to begin to soften that anger begin to

[35:17] do a work in your

[35:19] life if you come to God it with your

[35:22] true emotional feelings God does care

[35:25] how you feel and he wants to hear from

[35:26] you he tells us to pray so he's

[35:30] emotional when he

[35:33] prays he's

[35:35] in when he's praying the Bible describes

[35:39] it as he sweat as it were great drops of

[35:43] blood that's

[35:45] not a

[35:48] easy prayer

[35:51] time he's gone to the father and he's

[35:54] gripped the Throne of God and he's

[35:56] beseeching God

[35:58] if it be

[36:00] possible let this cup pass from me he is

[36:04] at a point where his 100% human sight is

[36:11] weak it's getting ready to go to the

[36:16] cross I was doing some studying and

[36:18] thinking about it

[36:22] today the portion that

[36:26] says the the spirit indeed is willing

[36:29] but the flesh is weak in Matthew

[36:34] 26:41 and then in mark it describes that

[36:36] the spirit is ready but the flesh is

[36:42] weak who's he talking

[36:46] about who is he talking

[36:50] about well people say well he's talking

[36:52] to Peter Peter was willing but he fell

[36:56] asleep

[36:58] they said he's talking to Peter because

[37:00] he said Simon well if you look at the

[37:02] Mark 14 account there's a period

[37:06] there and he says the spirit is ready

[37:09] but the flesh is weak so some would say

[37:12] well he's talking to Peter because Peter

[37:14] Peter wanted to well earlier in the

[37:16] chapters we find that Peter says he's

[37:19] not going to deny him Jesus said before

[37:22] the crows twice Thou shalt deny me

[37:25] Thrice Peter says not I Lord I not me I

[37:29] won't turn away and Jesus says pray that

[37:32] you enter not into

[37:55] relationship with God's not right or

[37:58] when his mouth has gotten in the

[38:03] Simon Simon Satan desired to have thee

[38:10] Simon can thou not watch and pray with

[38:13] me one hour

[38:15] Simon it's kind of like when your mom

[38:18] calls you by your full

[38:20] name first name and your middle name you

[38:22] know you're in

[38:26] trouble he does doesn't call him Peter

[38:29] he calls him

[38:31] Simon he's emotional when he

[38:35] prayed but as I began to think about it

[38:40] today I looked in multiple commentaries

[38:44] and multiple of them took the Peter

[38:50] position so I called a couple Pastor

[38:53] friends today and asked them their

[38:56] thoughts and they were seeing what I was

[38:59] seeing and they understood that

[39:02] and I cannot say with

[39:08] authority that this is what's happening

[39:10] in the

[39:12] text but it is something I see it is

[39:17] something I believe that we ought to pay

[39:21] attention

[39:22] to in Mark

[39:24] 14 verse 38

[39:28] he says the

[39:30] spirit truly is ready but the flesh is

[39:36] weak what had he just

[39:39] done he had just prayed father if it be

[39:42] possible let this cup pass for me

[39:45] nevertheless not my will but thine be

[39:47] done he's exceeding sorrowful as he

[39:49] prays that a a angel has ministered to

[39:53] his flesh because it's weak and tried to

[39:56] strengthen him

[39:58] he's in agony as he prays could we say

[40:02] that Christ in this moment his flesh is

[40:05] weak and his Spirit truly is ready to go

[40:08] to the Cross but his flesh is

[40:11] weak because he goes a second time to

[40:14] pray and then he goes the third time to

[40:19] pray the spirit is truly

[40:23] ready if he's talking just to Peter Well

[40:26] Peter already fell

[40:30] asleep if he's talking about Peter's

[40:32] denial that's coming

[40:35] up Peter's spirit in

[40:38] him says that I'm not going to do it but

[40:41] his flesh is weak we know what's going

[40:42] to happen so is it

[40:47] Peter but as I begin to think about it

[40:49] it began to ponder in my mind I begin to

[40:54] wonder the spirit here it's new Numa the

[40:58] Greek where there's Numa which means

[41:00] spirit that didn't help much did

[41:03] it it means

[41:06] spirit it's used multiple times in

[41:09] scripture and other times it references

[41:12] the Holy Spirit and other times it

[41:15] references man's spirit so this Spirit

[41:17] that's in a man is truly ready but the

[41:20] flesh is weak now we know it's not the

[41:22] holy spirit because if it was the Holy

[41:25] Spirit it'd be capitalized

[41:28] it's not the holy spirit's ready but the

[41:30] flesh is weak besides Peter hasn't been

[41:33] indwelled with the holy spirit yet that

[41:36] hasn't happened until the day of

[41:38] Pentecost and so it's not the Holy

[41:40] Spirit talking here so it be man's

[41:44] Spirit but man's spirit with God is

[41:47] dead during this time the spirit of God

[41:50] Came Upon people and directed them but

[41:52] Peter he's in and out of relationship

[41:55] with God he's saved but his relationship

[41:58] with God goes up and down because of the

[42:00] choices that he

[42:05] makes but I see here that it it's

[42:08] possible that we could consider

[42:12] Christ that his Spirit truly is

[42:16] ready but his flesh is weak and he's got

[42:19] to go pray

[42:21] again because his spirit is ready but

[42:24] the human side is weak so he's got to go

[42:28] pray

[42:29] again it's very

[42:32] possible that it's directed Solly to

[42:36] Peter I think though through the

[42:38] inspiration of scripture it is revealed

[42:40] to us that our flesh is weak and it's to

[42:44] reveal to us our Human

[42:47] Side well if it's to reveal to us that

[42:49] our human side is

[42:52] weak could it be better pictured that

[42:57] Jesus's Human Side is

[42:59] weak because he was tempted in all

[43:02] points like as we are yet without sin

[43:06] and he bore on himself the

[43:09] infirmities of us all the iniquities of

[43:13] us

[43:14] all could it be in this

[43:17] moment as we look at our Mark 14 and

[43:21] Matthew

[43:22] 26 that Jesus is talking about himself

[43:26] saying my flesh right now is weak the

[43:30] reason I'm here in the garden is I'm

[43:33] praying for

[43:35] strength for the journey ahead I'm

[43:38] praying because I know what's ahead and

[43:41] then he's

[43:42] praying not my

[43:45] will not my

[43:48] will well what will would that be that'd

[43:51] be his fleshly

[43:52] will his 100% human side doesn't want to

[43:57] go to the

[44:00] Cross but his God's side is driving him

[44:04] to

[44:05] Calvary but he went

[44:10] willingly why because he

[44:14] prayed not my will but thine be

[44:19] done so number four tonight we said

[44:23] you've when you're going to pray like

[44:25] Jesus you're going to going to have to

[44:27] be raw with your emotions when you pray

[44:30] and you're going to have to recognize

[44:32] who you are when you pray you're going

[44:35] to have to recognize your

[44:38] Humanity When you pray think about the

[44:41] angel strengthening him and he's still

[44:44] in

[44:45] agony some of us think well if God sent

[44:48] an angel to help me in a situation then

[44:51] that would be wonderful for me and that

[44:54] would really help me if God sent a

[44:56] special angel from heaven to strengthen

[44:58] me while I was praying that would be

[45:00] wonderful for me but it was such a heavy

[45:03] thing for Jesus that he's still in

[45:07] agony and

[45:09] sorrowful even after the angel

[45:12] strengthened him that's how heavy going

[45:15] to Calvary was on his fleshly

[45:19] side notice number five tonight if we're

[45:22] going to pray like Jesus he prayed for

[45:25] the father's

[45:29] will not my will but thine if you're

[45:32] going to pray like Jesus you got to pray

[45:33] for God's will to be

[45:35] done that's some hard prayers

[45:42] sometime laying in a hospital bed and

[45:44] you pray Lord if it be your will help me

[45:49] get out of this

[45:51] bed but Lord if it's not your

[45:55] will help me to

[45:57] accept what I cannot

[46:02] change those are hard prayers to

[46:06] pray been there those are hard prayers

[46:10] to pray father if it be your will heal

[46:18] them but if

[46:21] not help

[46:24] them give them the grace that they need

[46:27] need to get through this

[46:30] trial that's hard things to pray because

[46:34] our flesh side says fix it make it all

[46:38] better heal

[46:40] them and the father's will may be I am

[46:44] but the way I'm going to heal them is

[46:45] I'm going to take them to

[46:47] heaven I'm not going to heal them here

[46:49] on Earth that's a hard thing to pray but

[46:54] if you going to pray like Jesus you have

[46:55] to pray not not my will but thine be

[47:01] done number six I want you to notice he

[47:04] prayed

[47:07] repeatedly he prayed

[47:09] repeatedly he prayed repeatedly for the

[47:12] same

[47:14] thing over and then the the the gospels

[47:18] Matthew Mark and Luke tell us he prayed

[47:20] the same

[47:22] words he went back and he prayed the

[47:24] same words again and again

[47:27] the sa and listen he's not praying a

[47:30] robotic prayer this is a genuine prayer

[47:33] from his heart this is how he feels this

[47:36] is the sorrow that he's

[47:38] bearing and he prayed repeatedly

[47:41] wouldn't it be nice if God answered your

[47:43] prayer the first

[47:45] time but he doesn't always answer prayer

[47:48] the first

[47:49] time sometimes you got to pray

[47:53] repeatedly it says to pray without

[47:55] ceasing Jes Jesus Illustrated for us he

[47:58] prayed in the garden not once not twice

[48:02] but three times now here's the thing

[48:03] when you're praying repeatedly here's

[48:05] the key ingredient that I think we see

[48:07] from the life of Jesus in the

[48:13] garden he prayed repeatedly for God's

[48:18] Will and then when God's will didn't

[48:22] change his

[48:24] circumstance he accepted

[48:27] God's

[48:29] will sometimes when praying God may not

[48:32] change your

[48:35] circumstance but he may change you

[48:39] through what you're

[48:41] praying God may not change the

[48:47] circumstance Jesus went three times if

[48:50] it be

[48:53] possible if it be possible

[48:57] if it be

[48:59] possible now wait a minute what's Luke

[49:02] 137 say but With God all things

[49:09] are it wasn't that God didn't have the

[49:12] power to change it but it wasn't God's

[49:16] will to change

[49:19] it sometimes in our prayer life we've

[49:21] got to remember God's got the power to

[49:24] change the circumstance but it's not

[49:27] always his will to change the

[49:31] circumstance and we've got to learn to

[49:34] pray like Jesus

[49:36] nevertheless if you don't change it God

[49:39] nevertheless not my will but thine be

[49:43] done we pray and we want God to get rid

[49:46] of the hard things and God says

[49:49] no because sometimes the hard things are

[49:52] heart things that he's using to work on

[49:55] our heart

[49:58] so he prayed

[50:01] repeatedly I know we've already

[50:03] mentioned this but number seven he

[50:07] needed minister

[50:11] to he needed ministered to while he was

[50:20] praying while he was

[50:23] praying an angel came to string

[50:28] him his Human Side needed

[50:34] strengthening in our lives have you ever

[50:37] been in a season of prayer and needed

[50:41] ministered to while you were in the

[50:44] season of

[50:47] Prayer in the midst of praying

[50:50] repeatedly God will choose to minister

[50:54] to you

[50:58] but I want you to notice go to Luke

[51:03] 22 Luke 22:

[51:08] 43 and there appeared an angel unto him

[51:11] from Heaven strengthening

[51:13] him and being in an Agony he prayed

[51:19] more

[51:20] what

[51:25] earnestly the emotion he was

[51:29] feeling encouraged him to pray more

[51:36] earnestly have you ever been

[51:39] there when you've been praying

[51:42] repeatedly and God still hasn't

[51:45] answered and you're emotionally getting

[51:48] overwhelmed because he hasn't

[51:51] answered so you got two choices you can

[51:54] just give up and check out or you can be

[51:59] like Jesus and pray more

[52:06] earnestly the Bible doesn't say the

[52:08] effectual prayer of a righteous man

[52:11] availeth much the

[52:13] effectual fervent

[52:16] prayer fervent there's some energy

[52:21] exerted when you go to God don't just

[52:24] come in halfhazard

[52:26] don't come in with what you got left in

[52:29] the

[52:30] tank come to God with all your heart

[52:34] pour it all out before him you may pray

[52:38] repeatedly and he hasn't answered yet

[52:41] don't

[52:42] stop pray more

[52:47] earnestly pray like

[52:53] Jesus the disciples here

[52:56] have fallen

[52:59] asleep when Jesus is

[53:02] praying the disciples here have fallen

[53:07] twice while Jesus is

[55:37] revealed to us that on his last time in

[55:41] his last prayer meeting you were on his

[55:47] mind because he knew you were going to

[55:49] believe through his word he's already

[55:50] praying for you listen before you were

[55:53] even thought about he was praying for

[55:57] the gardan of Gethsemane when he was

[56:00] exceeding sorrowful he was praying for

[56:02] you Bible talks about he maketh

[56:04] intercession for

[56:07] us he prayed for you

[56:10] today he's praying for you and what

[56:21] father he's making intercession for

[56:24] you in the garden he was was praying for

[56:31] don't think he really prayed a whole

[56:34] hour I think it's just a figure of

[56:40] don't think you prayed for a whole hour

[56:44] 17 there's a lot of verses there about

[56:48] things he prayed

[56:49] for and we find in verse 18 Judas shows

[56:53] up and look back at at John 18 verse

[56:57] John 18 verse number one when Jesus had

[57:00] spoken these words he went forth with

[57:03] his disciples over so he goes to the

[57:06] Garden so

[57:08] sometime between the upper room and the

[57:12] garden Jesus prayed for

[57:18] you in other words friend he prayed for

[57:22] you before he prayed for

[57:24] himself before before he got to the

[57:26] garden and asked for the cup to be

[57:28] passed from him he had already prayed

[57:30] for you he' already prayed for the

[57:32] disciples see Jesus is not selfish in

[57:35] his prayer life in these accounts he's

[57:38] already prayed for you before he's even

[57:39] come with his

[57:43] need but sometimes in our prayer time

[57:45] we're going to need ministered to

[57:49] because it gets

[57:50] heavy you ever had heavy prayer

[57:54] requests and you've made mention them

[57:56] you've followed the pattern and you've

[57:57] prayed

[58:00] repeatedly have you prayed for the

[58:02] father's will to be

[58:05] done have you been emotional when you

[58:08] prayed have you been humbled like Jesus

[58:11] when you prayed or did you come with a

[58:13] selfish

[58:15] heart did you ask other people to help

[58:18] bear the burden that you're praying

[58:21] for and do you have a place that you go

[58:24] to regularly to to get alone with God if

[58:28] we're going to pray like Jesus I believe

[58:31] these seven things ought to be fresh in

[58:33] our mind I also think we ought to remind

[58:37] ourselves that in the garden before the

[58:41] cross it was

[58:45] Heavy it was

[58:47] Agony it was exceeding

[58:53] sorrowful if the cross had been easy

[58:57] he wouldn't have felt what he felt

[59:01] listen Jesus knows what it's like to be

[59:04] an Agony in your prayer life Jesus knows

[59:07] what it's like to be exceeding sorrowful

[59:10] in your prayer

[59:11] life Jesus knows what it's like to pray

[59:14] one time two times multiple times for

[59:18] the same

[59:20] thing and still not get a yes but submit

[59:25] to the the father's

[59:29] will Jesus has been there like

[59:33] you he knows what it's like to

[59:38] pray for hard

[59:42] things and to pray from your

[59:46] heart tonight maybe you've been praying

[59:50] for a long time but are you praying like

[59:54] Jesus are are you praying selfishly if

[59:58] you are ask God to forgive you are you

[60:02] praying with

[60:04] anger God changed the circumstance God

[60:07] changed the circumstance God changed the

[60:10] circumstance instead of God change the

[60:12] circumstance or grow me to accept the

[60:19] circumstance are you praying like

[60:22] Jesus tonight look into your heart

[60:26] heart and see if we're praying like

[60:31] Jesus or are we praying like us and our

[60:36] way of

[60:38] praying let's examine our hearts and see

[60:41] if we're praying like

[60:47] Jesus his Spirit was ready it was indeed

[60:52] willing but his flesh was also weak

[60:56] listen in the Garden of

[60:59] Gethsemane Satan's forces were

[61:05] there in the gospel accounts when he's

[61:09] tempted it says that he was

[61:12] hungry he's physically hungry and Satan

[61:17] showed

[61:19] up that's when the tempter came when his

[61:22] flesh was weak

[61:27] when his flesh was

[61:29] weak when does Satan show up for you

[65:23] figure out exactly what's going on there

[65:29] her continue to pray uh for Miss Leah

[65:32] and brother Tim White um as she's been

[65:35] dealing with a a lot of health

[65:37] issues and don't just pray physically

[65:41] for her but pray spiritually for her and

[65:44] emotionally for her you can get weary

[65:47] when you're physically not feeling good

[65:49] and it can have a toll on you so pray

[65:51] for her pray for brother Tim as he's

[65:53] trying to be an encouragement to his

[65:55] wife and minister to her so pray for
