[0:12] This is a CBS News special report. I'm
[0:14] Katie Kurrick at CBS News headquarters
[0:16] here in New York. There has been a plane
[0:18] crash here in New York City. And right
[0:20] now you're looking at live pictures of a
[0:23] US Airways jetliner that went down in
[0:26] the Hudson River, an Airbus 320 flight
[0:29] 1549. Now it had just taken off from
[0:32] LaGuardia Airport. It was bound for
[0:34] Charlotte, North Carolina. According to
[0:36] reports, it struck a bird apparently and
[0:39] then went down in the Hudson. Earlier
[0:41] pictures showed the entire plane, the
[0:43] fuselage really floating on the Hudson
[0:47] River and police were evacuating what
[0:49] appeared to be several passengers who
[0:51] were wearing life vest. But now, as you
[0:53] can see from those live pictures,
[0:55] there's only the tail of the plane
[0:57] emerging from the Hudson River. Bob our
[1:00] has been covering and getting details of
[1:02] what transpired. Bob, what are you
[1:04] hearing and what are you learning so
[1:06] far? Well, Katie, the information right
[1:08] now is still, as you might imagine, uh,
[1:10] preliminary, but according to the FAA,
[1:12] this is a flight, an Airbus A320 capable
[1:14] of carrying just over a hundred people.
[1:17] Uh, taking off from LaGuardia. As far as
[1:19] we can tell, it took off a little bit
[1:20] late. Was supposed to take off at 2:45.
[1:23] Didn't get off till somewhere around
[1:24] 3:30. Uh, apparently did get airborne
[1:27] because it went at least some distance
[1:29] from the runway at LaGuardia until it
[1:31] landed in the Hudson River. And I can
[1:32] tell you from looking at the pictures, a
[1:34] couple of things come to my mind. Number
[1:36] one, uh the plane had to b
