[1:30] and 17 Colossians 3: 16-1 17 the Bible

[1:35] says let the word of Christ dwell in you

[1:38] richly in all wisdom teaching and

[1:41] admonishing one another in Psalms and

[1:44] hymns and spiritual songs singing with

[1:47] Grace in your hearts to the Lord and

[1:50] whatsoever you do in word or deed do all

[1:54] in the name of the Lord Jesus giving

[1:57] thanks to God and the father by him I

[2:02] hope today that the word of Christ is

[2:04] dwelling in you and it's not just in you

[2:08] a little bit but it's dwelling in you

[2:11] richly and that it'll flow out of you

[2:13] today so let's have a word of prayer and

[2:16] we'll get started with our service this

[2:17] morning dear heavenly father Lord we are

[2:19] so thankful for

[2:21] you we're thankful for the gift of the

[2:24] word of

[2:25] God lord I pray today that the word of

[2:28] God would grip our heart and stir our

[2:30] minds and overflow in our Spirits in

[2:34] such a way that we would sing unto you

[2:37] we'd sing praise unto you we glorify

[2:39] your name and Lord that everything we do

[2:43] today will be done in your power and in

[2:46] your spirit in your name I pray amen

[11:36] take a look at that men and make sure

[11:38] you make plans to be here at 7:30 that

[11:44] baby shower at 2 o'clock in the

[11:46] fellowship hall uh for Miss emberlin and

[11:49] so and her little one so make sure you

[11:51] make plans to be here ladies you have

[11:53] any questions about that you can see my

[11:54] wife and she can give you all the

[11:56] details of that the last Sunday of the

[11:57] month is Vision Sunday we will be

[12:00] presenting the new theme for 2025 as

[12:03] well as in the evening service having

[12:05] our annual business meeting after the

[12:07] evening service so I want to encourage

[12:08] the church members to be here and

[12:10] looking forward to a great year this

[12:11] year and what God has for us but listen

[12:13] to the message of this song this morning

[12:18] we'll open up the word of God and spend

[12:20] some time preaching to you what God's

[17:04] excited about what God's placed upon our

[17:06] heart today and looking forward to it

[17:09] this morning Matthew 19 verse number

[17:13] 16 Bible says and behold one came and

[17:17] said unto him good Master what good

[17:20] thing shall I do that I may have eternal

[17:25] life and he said unto him why call us

[17:29] thou me good there is none good but one

[17:33] that is God but if thou will enter into

[17:36] life keep the

[17:38] Commandments he saith unto

[17:43] which Jesus said Thou shalt do no murder

[17:49] shalt not steal Thou shalt not bear

[17:59] and the young man saith unto him all

[18:18] haven't Jesus saith unto him if thou wil

[18:26] give to the poor and thou shalt have

[18:32] me but when the young man heard that

[18:34] saying he went away sorrowful for he had

[18:38] great

[18:40] possessions then said Jesus unto his

[18:43] disciples verily I say unto you that a

[18:46] rich man shall hardly enter into the

[18:48] kingdom of heaven and again I say unto

[18:52] you it is easier for a camel the largest

[18:55] animal they knew at the time to go

[18:58] through the is of a needle the smallest

[19:00] entrance they knew than for a rich man

[19:03] to enter into the kingdom of God when

[19:06] his disciples heard it they were

[19:09] exceedingly amazed saying who then can

[19:12] be

[19:13] saved that's a good question Jesus

[19:16] answered but Jesus beheld them and said

[19:18] unto them with men this is impossible

[19:23] salvation is impossible in

[19:35] possible a gift can either be

[20:17] seated the Rich Young Ruler comes to

[20:20] Jesus he inquires about how to have

[20:23] eternal life Jesus talks to

[20:27] him and then he walks away and misses an

[20:32] opportunity to be

[20:34] saved misses an

[20:36] opportunity there's an article written

[20:39] some time

[20:40] ago about one of the greatest failures

[20:43] in

[20:44] business is missed

[20:48] opportunities missed opportunity history

[20:51] actually records some of those for us

[20:54] some enormous ones for example a British

[20:57] government committee

[20:59] rejected Thomas Edison's invention of

[21:02] the light bulb stating it's okay for our

[21:05] trans letic friends but it's Unworthy of

[21:09] the attention of practical or scientific

[21:15] men and we got lots of them in here

[21:19] today they missed out on that

[21:21] opportunity well how about in

[21:23] 1876 Alexander granell invented the

[21:27] telephone now he wanted to commercialize

[21:30] it and make it so that it could be put

[21:31] in every American home he offered the

[21:34] patent to Western

[21:37] Union for

[21:39] $100,000 now that's a lot of money and

[21:42] that was really a lot of money then

[21:45] Western Union's response was this why

[21:49] would any person want to use this

[21:52] ungainly and impractical device when he

[21:56] can send a messenger to the telegram

[21:58] office and have a clear written message

[22:01] sent to any any large US city in United

[22:08] States so because they didn't want to

[22:10] invest in take the patent Western Union

[22:13] missed

[22:14] out on the

[22:16] telephone how about this one in 1970

[22:20] Steve wnc worked for huet

[22:23] Packard he tried to convince his

[22:25] employer to embrace a new home computer

[22:29] that he was building HP rejected the

[22:32] idea and said this people would never

[22:35] use computers at

[22:38] home he left HP and joined his friend

[22:41] his friend's name Steve

[22:44] Jobs to build the first home computer in

[22:47] a garage the apple

[22:49] one now we all know that what happened

[22:53] after that and some of you today are not

[22:55] talking on huet Packard phones you're

[22:58] talking on Apple phones what a missed

[23:02] opportunity now I'm going to date myself

[23:04] here how many of you remember Ross

[23:07] perau yeah some of you remember Ross

[23:09] perau founder of electronic Data Systems

[23:13] in 1979 Ross perau met a man named Bill

[23:17] Gates the founder of his small company

[23:22] Microsoft now Gates offered perau a

[23:25] majority interest in his company for 60

[23:28] million

[23:29] dollar but Ross thought it was too much

[23:32] passed on the deal missing one of the

[23:35] greatest Financial opportunities in his

[23:38] life you see my friend from business we

[23:41] can learn that it is a travesty to miss

[23:45] opportunities but a greater travesty

[23:48] than a business opportunity is the

[23:50] opportunity to know Jesus Christ as your

[23:53] personal Savior and miss that

[23:56] opportunity we're not guaranteed a

[23:58] tomorrow we don't know what tomorrow may

[24:00] bring so in Matthew 19 we find a young

[24:04] man he's a Rich Young Ruler he comes and

[24:08] he says unto him good Master what good

[24:12] thing shall I do that I may have eternal

[24:17] life his heart is about what can I

[24:21] do what good thing can I do that I can

[24:26] have eternal life

[24:30] he

[24:31] can't just as you can't and I can't

[24:34] there's not one good work that you can

[24:37] work in order to inherit eternal life

[24:41] because a gift can only be received or

[24:44] rejected it cannot be

[24:48] earned it's a reward if it's earned it's

[24:51] a gift if it's given

[24:54] freely so he says behold one came good

[24:57] Master what good things shall I do

[24:59] Jesus's response says why callest me

[25:02] thou good there is none good but one

[25:05] that is God now if the young man would

[25:08] have said that's right you're

[25:11] God the conversation would have

[25:14] changed but he didn't think he was God

[25:17] he just thought he was good like he

[25:19] thought he was

[25:22] good he had it all figured

[25:25] out so when asking the question if

[25:28] there's only one good that's

[25:31] God but if thou would inent her life

[25:34] commandments so I ask him good good why

[25:38] would any man think that I'm good well

[25:41] we' think that he was good Jesus was

[25:44] God John 1 tells us and the word became

[25:52] one of that same chapter in John chapter

[25:54] 1 in the beginning was the word and the

[25:56] Word was with God and the word was was

[25:58] God in our discipleship Journey class

[26:03] passage we talked about the great Heir

[26:05] that some denominations make and

[26:07] changing the last part of that verse not

[26:09] that the Word was God but they add a

[26:11] little a there and they lowercase the G

[26:14] and say he was a God no no no he is God

[26:19] there's only one God God the Father God

[26:21] Son God the holy sp there one there's

[26:23] only

[26:24] one so the word of God is important and

[26:27] so he ask the question if there's only

[26:29] one good so in the in the statement if

[26:33] Jesus says to him if there's only only

[26:37] God the man could have responded well

[28:06] reason he starts with Thou shalt not

[30:26] preacher his name is at Pearson no

[30:36] loving your neighbor as yourself he said

[30:43] 1800s he said how many of you on your

[30:51] bell ringing and it turns on your street

[30:53] and so you hurriedly walk around the

[30:54] corner and you're running in in your

[30:57] heart you're your heart is pounding your

[30:59] heart is pounding and then as you see it

[31:01] it's it's not only on your street it's

[31:03] in your area of the street and your

[31:05] heart is pounding your heart is pounding

[31:07] and then you get there and it's your

[31:08] house on fire and you say well I'm so

[31:10] glad it's not my

[31:16] neighbors we wouldn't say

[31:19] that why because my house is on

[31:24] fire but how time how many times a sense

[31:26] of relief comes when it's

[31:28] your neighbor's house and not your

[31:31] house what does that mean well it means

[31:33] we're struggling with loving our

[31:34] neighbor as

[31:39] ourselves we we're around that corner we

[35:31] themselves Ephesians 289 says for by

[35:34] grace are you saved through faith and

[35:36] that not of yourselves it is the gift of

[35:38] God not of Works lest any man should

[35:44] boast it is impossible for men to save

[35:48] themselves from their sinful

[35:50] condition it is impossible for man to

[35:54] save himself from a sinful condition and

[35:57] so I go we could say it this way a man

[36:02] goes and he says in a little closet

[36:10] me it's been this many weeks since my

[36:15] confession what do I need to do go do

[37:02] work or maybe I can go and five times a

[37:06] day I can lay a rug out and I can bow

[37:08] myself down five times a day and pray to

[37:11] the son God and pray that he would

[37:20] Baptist tree and I can be dunked under

[37:28] it's just a work well maybe if I go and

[47:24] gurnie ran down the hallway

[47:29] tomorrow may bring you need to accept

[47:30] Christ as your savior you're not

[47:32] guaranteed a tomorrow we don't know what

[47:35] may happen we may be here today and gone

[47:40] the hospital gurny came back by with a

[47:42] paramedic on top of the hospital gurny

[47:44] doing chest compressions on the

[47:47] person that person went out into

[47:49] eternity they

[47:51] died you talk about a sermon

[47:55] illustration in front of their eyes they

[47:59] saw someone slip out into

[48:02] eternity we don't know what tomorrow is

[48:35] possible so here's some things that are

[48:37] impossible with men but possible with

[48:39] God

[48:40] salvation it's impossible with man man

[48:42] can't get saved by themselves can't earn

[48:45] it can't do

[48:48] it God is the only one who can save

[48:52] people another area that is impossible

[48:55] with men is service to God

[48:58] service can to God cannot be done by man

[49:00] alone you need

[49:11] deliver a message from God without

[51:02] letting go then hopefully you'll work

[52:31] Eternal you're eternally secure in

[52:34] Christ Ephesians 4 tells us we're sealed

[52:36] until the day of

[52:39] redemption we have eternal

[52:42] security well I I could walk

[52:46] away no you can't the holy spirit's

[52:49] living inside you can't walk

[52:52] away he'll convict you time and time and

[52:55] time again

[52:57] bring you back so what about those that

[53:00] are he gives over to a reprobate mind

[53:11] rejected what's keeping you from
