[0:16] I think it was Emerson who once said
[0:18] that Talent is not enough to make a
[0:21] writer behind each book there must be a
[0:23] man

[0:37] minor planet to prevent war and achieve
[0:40] a stable peace
[0:42] and then Ed Sullivan the syndicated
[0:44] columnist who has chronicled the doings
[0:47] of the entertainment World we'll be

[1:16] I am not quite sure how to describe or
[1:19] to introduce Professor James Shotwell
[1:22] he is an old friend he's a scholar a
[1:26] historian a poet a man of action
[1:29] and being a historian he has a higher
[1:32] regard for fact and is sometimes not
[1:34] altogether tolerant of those who
[1:36] disregard it so I'm going to read just a
[1:39] bit about him to be quite sure that I
[1:41] have accurate
[1:42] for more than 50 years at Columbia
