[12:43] James chapter number five verses 17 and

[12:49] 18 Bible says Elias was a man subject to

[12:53] like passions as we are and he prayed

[12:58] earnestly

[13:00] that it might not rain and it rained not

[13:03] on the Earth by the space of 3 years and

[13:06] 6 months and he prayed again and the

[13:10] heavens gave rain and the Earth Earth

[13:13] brought forth her

[13:16] fruit we're going to look at the life of

[13:18] Elijah tonight and going to preach on

[13:19] this subject God wants me to pray big

[13:24] prayers God wants me to pray big prayers

[13:28] and God wants wants you to pray big

[13:31] prayers let's go to the Lord in prayer

[13:32] tonight Heavenly Father Lord we're

[13:34] thankful for the opportunity to dive in

[13:36] your word tonight Lord I pray you'd help

[14:19] Kings in the Days of Elijah there was a

[14:21] wicked King named

[14:23] Ahab you ever heard of

[14:25] him in fact he was one of the most

[14:28] wicked Kings

[14:30] that Israel had ever had and on top of

[14:33] that he married a wicked woman named

[14:35] Jezebel and he built altars to ba and he

[14:38] worshiped false gods instead of the true

[14:41] God so go back to First Kings chapter

[14:45] 16 we're going to take a journey through

[14:49] a couple passages about

[14:52] Elijah then we're going to get to the

[14:56] Crux of the message at the end so

[14:58] there's a lot of

[15:00] introduction explanation that then

[15:02] arrives us at the

[15:04] end First Kings chapter

[15:07] 16 and verse number

[15:10] 30 First Kings chapter 16 verse number

[15:14] 30 and Ahab the son of omry did evil in

[15:21] the sight of the Lord what's the next

[15:24] two words

[15:36] testimony that you did evil in the sight

[15:57] jeroboam pretty power powerful testimony

[16:03] jeroboam look at verse 31 and it came to

[16:07] pass as if it had been a light thing for

[16:12] him to walk in the sins of jeroboam

[16:15] there's that phrase again the son of

[16:18] nebat that he took to wife Jezebel the

[16:23] daughter of Ethel King of the zidonians

[16:25] and went and served Baal

[16:29] and worshiped him so if it had been a

[16:32] light

[16:33] thing that phrasing of

[16:36] scripture if it had been a light thing

[16:39] that he only did the sins of

[16:42] jeroboam but he did more than that he

[16:46] did worse than that he marries

[16:48] Jezebel the daughter of Ethel and he

[16:51] begins bail Worship in the

[16:54] country look at 32 and he reared up an

[16:58] altar for ba in the house of Baal which

[17:02] he had built in

[17:05] Samaria so he made a

[17:08] temple a building to worship

[17:12] baale not just the sins of

[17:15] jeroboam not just measur marrying

[17:18] Jezebel he built an a house to worship

[17:23] the god

[17:25] Baal and is still not done verse 33

[17:30] and Ahab made a

[17:32] Grove and Ahab did

[17:37] more to provoke the Lord God of Israel

[17:40] to

[17:41] anger than all the kings of Israel that

[17:47] were before

[17:49] him

[17:51] wow what a testimony

[17:55] huh God's more angry with you a have

[17:59] than he ever was with all the kings

[18:02] before and some of them for instance

[18:06] jeroboam we read all throughout the sins

[18:08] of jeroboam the sins of jeroboam for

[18:11] multiple Generations they're affected by

[18:13] the sins of jeroboam ahab's worse than

[18:16] that Ahab angered God more than that so

[18:19] what did God do well since you brought

[18:21] it up look at verse one of chapter

[18:24] 17 and Elijah The

[18:27] tishbite Who was the inhabitants of

[18:29] Gilead said unto

[18:32] Ahab as the Lord God of Israel liveth

[18:36] before whom I stand there shall not be

[18:39] due nor rain these years but according

[18:43] to what's the last two words there

[18:45] church my

[18:47] word so because of ahab's wickedness God

[18:50] sent a man a prophet named Elijah who

[18:53] warned Ahab that because of his

[18:55] wickedness God was going to stop the

[18:57] rain

[18:58] not for a few days not weeks or even

[19:02] months but years we read in James it was

[19:06] three years and six months three and a

[19:10] half years of no

[19:14] rain but he says not only that look at

[19:17] verse one not only is there not going to

[19:20] be

[19:21] rain there shall not be

[19:26] do nor rain

[19:29] they couldn't even go out and collect

[19:30] the

[19:31] Dew no Dew no

[19:36] rain and God gave

[19:39] Elijah control over

[19:42] that look what it says said before him I

[19:45] stand there shall be not due nor rain

[19:47] these years but according to my

[19:53] word God gave Elijah control over the

[19:56] rain to say when it would stop stop and

[20:00] when it would start

[20:01] again he gave that control to

[20:05] Elijah but according to my word now

[20:08] years

[20:10] ago there was a place called Staples

[20:13] anybody ever heard of it little place

[20:16] called Staples of store and they had

[20:18] this little red button for an

[20:21] advertisement called the Easy Button

[20:23] anybody ever seen the Easy Button I used

[20:26] to have one in my office I used it as a

[20:28] sermon an illustration for a while and

[20:30] then some teenagers destroyed it when I

[20:33] was a youth

[20:35] pastor but it you could hit the button

[20:37] and say that was easy cuz that was their

[20:40] slogan you could go to Staples and get

[20:42] what you needed for your business and it

[20:44] was like hitting the easy button that

[20:45] was

[20:47] easy now Elijah didn't have a easy

[20:49] button but he had a prayer button and

[20:52] all Elijah had to do was hit the prayer

[20:54] button and when Elijah hit the prayer

[20:57] button

[20:59] the rain would

[21:00] stop and then when Elijah would pray

[21:05] again the rain would

[21:08] return so he said according to my word

[21:10] so he's got the rain prayer

[21:14] button so he's got this rain butd he

[21:16] said only I can touch it said Ahab you

[21:19] can pray all you want ain't going to

[21:21] happen said at my word God told him it

[21:23] was going to be at his

[21:25] word and he said I could touch it at any

[21:27] time and it'll stop stop

[21:29] raining and I can also touch at any time

[21:32] it'll make it start to

[21:34] rain so guess what happened we read it

[21:38] for three and a half years he didn't

[21:40] pray for the rain to

[21:43] start he didn't pray for the rain to

[21:45] start and for three and a half years it

[21:48] didn't rain no due no rain for three and

[21:51] a half

[21:52] years what began to happen things

[21:56] started to die Brook and lakes and ponds

[22:00] dried

[22:01] up but during this time God

[22:05] provided for

[22:06] Elijah right after he told them there's

[22:09] going to be no

[22:10] rain in verse number two the Bible says

[22:13] and the word of the Lord came unto him

[22:15] saying go get the hints and turn thee

[22:18] Eastward and hide thyself by the Brook

[22:20] cherith that is before

[22:22] Jordan so he takes off and he goes to

[22:24] the brook chiot that God provided said

[22:27] go to this place get get the

[22:29] hints and when he's called back to Fort

[22:32] terrain he tells him come on back but

[22:35] right now he tells him get the hints and

[22:36] he goes so God told him to run away from

[22:39] King Ahab to the brook cherith where God

[22:41] provided water from the brook and bread

[22:44] and meat was brought to him by the

[22:46] Ravens and we know that through chapter

[22:48] 17 you've been here uh any length of

[22:50] time you've heard me preach from that

[22:51] passage on First Kings 17 but I thought

[22:54] this week as I was thinking about this

[22:56] rain prayer button

[23:00] Elijah didn't pray for that when the

[23:02] brook dried

[23:05] up want you think about

[23:08] that you've heard me preach the passage

[23:10] I want to remind you of in case you've

[23:12] forgotten Elijah watched what was a

[23:14] flowing Brook shrink all the way down

[23:16] till it dried

[23:18] up and what was in front of him was a

[23:21] brook drying up but he never knelt To

[23:23] Pray For

[23:25] Rain why cuz God didn't tell him to

[23:31] yet even though what was in front of him

[23:33] was drying up even though that was what

[23:35] was in front of him was getting smaller

[23:37] and

[23:37] smaller God didn't tell him to pray yet

[23:40] for

[23:41] rain so even though he could have watch

[23:44] this even though he could have prayed

[23:46] for rain he didn't because he was

[23:49] dependent upon God's

[23:51] timing so notice what happened next in

[23:53] our

[23:56] passage during the year he also the

[24:00] brook dries up and now God sends him to

[24:02] a widow woman's

[24:04] house he arrives at the widow woman's

[24:06] house in chapter 17 where God provided

[24:09] for him during that

[24:11] time and while God's providing for Ahab

[24:14] food and substance and water there's a

[24:16] famine going

[24:17] on ahab's looking for him trying to find

[24:21] him once to kill him wants to get him to

[24:24] make the rain start

[24:26] again but Ahab

[24:28] can't find him now the interesting thing

[24:31] if you studied First Kings 17 he's in

[24:34] Jezebel's

[24:36] Hometown and she didn't get

[24:39] told God hid it God hid Elijah from

[24:44] them so Ahab was frustrated he he wanted

[24:48] Elijah to hit the prayer Reign button

[24:51] but didn't happen I want you go to

[24:52] chapter 18 of First

[24:54] Kings chapter 18 verse number one of

[24:57] First Kings

[24:59] it came to pass after many days that the

[25:03] word of the Lord came to Elijah in the

[25:04] third year saying go show thyself unto

[25:07] Ahab and I will send rain upon the

[25:11] Earth and Elijah went to himself unto

[25:14] Ahab and there was what's the next two

[25:17] words a sore

[25:21] famine a sore famine means that things

[25:23] had gotten really

[25:26] bad there's no no food to

[25:29] eat water's drying up pretty terrible

[25:33] situation things have gotten really bad

[25:36] there's a sore famine in the

[25:38] land and now God says I want you to go

[25:42] back the circumstances of

[25:45] life it's a heavy situation it was a

[25:48] real deal people and animals were on the

[25:51] brink of death because of this terrible

[25:54] famine so God sends Elijah to go back to

[25:57] Ahab

[25:59] so Elijah gets back and in verse number

[26:01] 19 verse 17 let's pick up in verse 17

[26:06] verse Kings chapter

[26:07] 18 it came to pass when Ahab saw Elijah

[26:10] that Ahab said unto him art thou he that

[26:12] troubleth Israel and he answered I have

[26:15] not troubled Israel but thou in thy

[26:17] father's house and that ye have forsaken

[26:19] the Commandments of the Lord and thou

[26:21] Hast followed balum now therefore send

[26:23] and gather me to all Israel under Mount

[26:25] Carmel and the prophets of Baal 4 50 and

[26:29] the prophets of the Grove 400 watch this

[26:33] next part which eat at Jezebel's

[26:38] table so he says go get the 450 prophets

[26:41] of Baal and get the 400 prophets that

[26:45] eat at Jezebel's table so Ahab sent unto

[26:47] all the children of Israel gather the

[26:50] prophets together unto Mount

[26:53] Carmel so in verse 19 he says we're

[26:55] going to have a showdown we're have a

[26:56] contest to see who God really is verse

[26:59] 21 they bring the 450 prophets of B and

[27:03] the 400 prophets that eat at Jezebel's

[27:05] table 850 prophets in total against

[27:09] Elijah and

[27:11] God so 850 prophets of bail against

[27:14] Elijah and God so here's some rules in

[27:16] the passage we're not going to read

[27:17] through it all each side would get one

[27:19] bull to put on the altar neither side

[27:22] gets any fire to start the

[27:25] sacrifice both sides will call on the

[27:27] name of their God baale or the Lord God

[27:31] and the god that answers by fire is the

[27:33] true God look at verse

[27:37] 24 at the end of the verse and all the

[27:40] people answered and said it is well

[27:42] spoken so they all agree we're going to

[27:45] do this everyone agrees to the rules of

[27:48] this

[27:51] contest in verse

[27:53] 26 the prophets of ba they took the

[27:55] Bullock which was given them and they

[27:57] dressed it and called on the the name of

[27:58] baale from morning even unto noon saying

[28:01] oh Baal hear us but there was no voice

[28:05] nor any that answered and they leaped

[28:08] upon the altar which was made and it

[28:11] came to pass at noon now watch this next

[28:13] verse part of the verse that Elijah

[28:16] mocked them and said cry aloud for he is

[28:20] a God either he is talking or he is

[28:22] pursuing or he is in a journey or per

[28:25] Adventure he sleepeth and must be awake

[28:29] and they cried aloud and they cut

[28:31] themselves after their manner with

[28:33] knives and Lancet till the blood gushed

[28:35] out upon them and it came to pass when

[28:38] midday was passed and they prophesied

[28:40] until the time of the offering of the

[28:41] evening sacrifice there was neither

[28:44] voice nor any to answer nor any that

[28:49] regarded so Elijah is sitting there he's

[28:52] watching them the whole time in fact in

[28:55] our verses we read he even kind of makes

[28:57] fun of them he mocks

[29:01] them now why didn't the gods of Baal

[29:04] answer the cries of His

[29:08] prophets because he's not a real

[29:12] God so in verses 30 through 35 we see

[29:15] what Elijah does Elijah rebuilds the

[29:18] altar of the Lord he digs a trench

[29:20] around the altar he puts the wood in the

[29:22] bull on the altar then he commanded for

[29:25] four barrels of water to be poured on

[29:27] the altar in the bull now we got to

[29:28] remember it's in a

[29:30] famine water is a precious

[29:33] commodity it's in a

[29:37] scarcity it it's

[29:40] not as easy accessible as $8 a dozen

[29:44] eggs

[29:46] are it's worse than

[29:50] that they go get the water they poured

[29:52] on then he commanded it to be done

[29:55] again so now we're at 8 eight and then

[29:59] he said a third time so 4 * 3 is

[30:05] 12 12 barrels of water they pour on this

[30:08] sacrifice now guess what Elijah does

[30:11] next he gets out the prayer

[30:16] button because it was good for more than

[30:18] just

[30:20] rain he gets out his prayer

[30:26] it for fire

[30:30] so in verses 36- 37 he prays as he prays

[30:36] Boop the fire falls down from heaven and

[30:39] consumes the sacrifice consumes the

[30:41] water sucks up all the water Burns this

[30:44] the stones all of it Just Amazing Just

[30:47] from a simple

[30:48] prayer Pray fire

[30:51] down after he praed fire down verse 38

[30:54] let's read it then the fire of the Lord

[30:55] fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice

[30:57] and the wood and the stones and the dust

[30:59] and licked up the water that was in the

[31:01] trench when all the people saw it they

[31:03] fell on their faces and they said the

[31:06] Lord he is God the Lord he is

[31:10] God cry

[31:12] aloud so what does Elijah do well verse

[31:16] 41 he gets all the

[31:18] prophets and he takes them all and he

[31:20] kills them all he slays them with the

[31:23] sword then verse 41 Elijah said unto

[31:27] Ahab

[31:28] get thee up eat and drink for there is

[31:32] the sound of the abundance of

[31:38] rain so what' he

[31:40] do he said to Ahab I'm going to pray for

[31:44] rain there's an abundance of rain verse

[31:47] 42 so Ahab went up to eat and to drink

[31:49] and Elijah went up to the top of Mount

[31:50] Carmel cast himself down upon the Earth

[31:53] put his face between his knees and said

[31:54] to his servant go up now look toward the

[31:57] sea went up and looked and there was

[31:59] nothing it came to pass the seventh time

[32:01] he said behold there ariseth a little

[32:04] Cloud out of the sea like a man's hand

[32:07] and he said go up S Ahab prepare thy

[32:09] Chariot and get thee down that the rain

[32:12] stop thee not it came to pass in the

[32:15] meanwhile the heaven was black with

[32:16] clouds and the wind there was a great

[32:18] rain and Ahab rode and went to jezrael

[32:21] and the Hand of the Lord was on Elijah

[32:23] he gted up his loins and he ran before

[32:26] Ahab to the entrance of jezrael ahab's

[32:30] in a chariot going back and Elijah

[32:33] outruns him in the

[32:36] rain so Elijah showed King Ahab the

[32:39] prayer button he said get ready Elijah

[32:41] began praying not once not twice but

[32:44] seven times and guess what God did he

[32:47] answered when Elijah prayed God poured

[32:49] out the rain on the land and it was a

[32:52] great

[32:54] rain

[32:56] wow prayed for rain to stop and it

[32:59] stopped prayed for fire to fall down

[33:02] from heaven and it fell prayed for rain

[33:05] to start and it

[33:07] started now go back to James chapter

[33:12] 5 and back to our text tonight that was

[33:15] my

[33:18] introduction James chapter

[33:21] 5 verse number

[33:25] 17 Elias

[33:28] was a

[33:30] man

[33:32] subject to like

[33:35] passions as we

[33:40] are so let me remind you about what God

[33:43] Said Elias was a man subject to like

[33:47] passions as we

[33:50] are other words the Bible says Elijah

[33:53] was a normal guy just like you and

[33:56] me some times he made dumb decisions if

[34:00] you read on in chapter 20 and chapter 19

[34:03] of Elijah's

[34:05] life he gets depressed he gets

[34:08] discouraged he hears the power of

[34:10] Jezebel's words by the way when he spoke

[34:13] to Ahab the first time Jezebel was in

[34:15] the

[34:16] room when now he hears what Jezebel says

[34:20] he goes on to run he gets discouraged as

[34:24] he hears some discouraging words so

[34:26] Elijah had his UPS and he had his Downs

[34:29] kind of like everybody else in the room

[34:32] we got days that we're doing great for

[34:34] the Lord and other days we're

[34:38] not our flesh gets in the

[34:41] way I Hate My Flesh there annoying don't

[34:44] you hate your flesh it's annoying I I

[34:47] like to have a funeral for it every

[34:50] day kind of like the Bible say I Crucify

[34:54] My Flesh I put it to death every day if

[34:58] I don't it gets in the

[34:59] way so sometimes he made dumb decisions

[35:03] sometimes he didn't control his

[35:22] all the time he struggled with

[35:24] temptation like we

[35:26] do he struggled with discouragement at

[35:29] times he got angry and frustrated at

[35:34] God he was a men subject to like

[35:37] passions as we

[35:40] are but when he prayed big prayers what

[35:46] did God do God

[35:50] answered so back in verse

[35:53] 17 Elias was a man subject like it with

[35:56] like passions as as we are he struggled

[35:58] with his flesh like we

[36:00] do his flesh got in the way like our

[36:03] flesh gets in the

[36:04] way but he prayed earnestly that it

[36:08] might not rain and it rained not on the

[36:11] Earth by the space of three years and

[36:13] six

[36:14] months he prayed earnestly how did he

[36:18] pray

[36:21] earnestly in fact in our first King's

[36:23] text he prayed seven times for The Reign

[36:26] to come

[36:30] Verse

[36:32] 18 and he prayed so here's another by

[36:35] the way if you go and look at the life

[36:36] of like he prayed a lot not just these

[36:39] prayers but he prayed a lot we talked

[36:41] about the Fire Fall Down From Heaven

[36:42] prayer he prayed

[36:44] again and the heaven gave rain and the

[36:48] Earth brought forth her

[36:50] fruit so why is a man who's struggles

[36:53] with his flesh like we do who's subject

[36:56] to like pass like we

[36:58] are able to pray big

[37:02] prayers and see God work in miraculous

[37:05] ways well the answer is found at the end

[37:09] of verse

[37:10] 16 beginning with the

[37:13] wordthe the

[37:16] effectual fervent prayer of a what kind

[37:20] of person righteous man

[37:24] availeth

[37:25] much so God answers Elijah's prayers

[37:29] because of three

[37:30] things I'm going to tell you about

[37:32] tonight the number one thing is the way

[37:36] he

[37:37] prayed the way he prayed he prayed

[37:41] earnestly we cannot just pray

[37:45] once we got to pray

[37:48] earnestly and we got to pray

[37:51] fervently so he he prayed the way that

[37:55] he prayed but also

[37:58] number two who was

[38:00] praying not because it was

[38:03] Elijah but because Elijah was a

[38:07] righteous man in other words he was

[38:11] right with

[38:15] God on one verse he's like we are he's

[38:19] subject to like passions the struggles

[38:21] the dealings that we struggle with he's

[38:24] just like us in that so if he can be if

[38:28] we are just like Elijah in the struggle

[38:31] part guess what also we can be like

[38:33] Elijah in in the rightous part it's your

[38:37] choice and my choice to be righteous for

[38:40] God we can determine in our hearts to

[38:43] live for God and be right with

[38:47] him so the way he prayed earnestly and

[38:50] fervently the who was praying not

[38:53] because it was Elijah but because Elijah

[38:55] was a righteous man the Bible says the

[38:58] effectual fervent prayer of a righteous

[39:00] man availeth

[39:03] much when we're not right with God our

[39:05] prayer life is

[39:07] hindered when we're right with God we

[39:10] could pray big prayers and see God work

[39:11] in miraculous

[39:14] ways impossible prayers are only

[39:18] impossible with man but they are

[39:20] possible with God the impossibility lies

[39:24] with us the possibility lies with God

[39:28] so we need to pray big

[39:31] prayers one of the things that happens

[39:34] in a person's life that can be a

[39:37] struggle to your prayer life is when you

[39:39] get backslid you get away from

[39:43] God a a violinist who was a

[39:46] well-renowned violinist was asked how

[39:49] how often do you

[39:52] practice they said 10 to 12 hours a day

[39:58] the person said what if you miss a day

[40:01] they said oh if if I miss a day I will

[40:06] know that I'm not where I should

[40:09] be and if I miss two days the conductor

[40:14] will

[40:15] know that I'm not where I should be if I

[40:19] miss three days the orchestra will know

[40:23] I'm not where I'm supposed to be if I

[40:26] miss four days everybody else will know

[40:30] that I'm not where I'm supposed to be CU

[40:32] I got out of

[40:36] practice my friend that's how it is in

[40:38] our relationship with

[40:40] God if you go one day watch this if you

[40:43] go one day without him you

[40:47] know you

[40:48] know you know when you're not

[40:52] right you know you messed up you didn't

[40:54] get time in the word you know you

[40:56] weren't in the right Fellowship ship

[40:57] with God you

[40:59] know but if it goes a few more days

[41:01] guess what happens other people around

[41:03] you they

[41:05] know and it won't take long before

[41:08] everybody knows that you're out of step

[41:11] and out of fellowship with God that you

[41:13] haven't been practicing being

[41:16] righteous so we got to

[41:19] practice every single day and then the

[41:23] third thing to remember is that kind of

[41:27] prayer so the way he prayed who was

[41:30] praying and the kind of prayer that he

[41:32] prayed look at the end of verse 16 the

[41:35] effectual fervent prayer of a righteous

[41:37] man availeth much big things

[41:44] happen why did God do such big things

[41:47] with the prayer life of Elijah because

[41:49] he was a righteous

[41:51] man the way that he prayed he

[41:53] effectually fervently prayed he prayed

[41:55] consistently and the type of prayer that

[41:57] he prayed it availeth

[41:59] much I got good

[42:01] news everyone here tonight has some

[42:04] things that they need God to do in their

[42:08] life every one of us have some big

[42:11] things that we could be praying to God

[42:16] for God has given everyone here tonight

[42:19] A Prayer button just like

[42:22] Elijah no it's not a physical button

[42:25] that you can touch but it's simply

[42:28] talking to

[42:31] God there are some big things that you

[42:35] need God to do in your life and your

[42:38] family and no one else will know about

[42:41] him but

[42:42] you so you and I need to pray like

[42:45] Elijah prayed fervently that means

[42:49] seriously and with a right heart towards

[42:52] God now if you expect God to take you

[42:56] seriously you better come to god

[42:59] seriously in prayer Hebrews 4:1 16 says

[43:04] let us therefore come boldly into the

[43:08] throne of grace that we may obtain mercy

[43:11] and find Grace to help in time of need

[43:16] second Timothy 1:7 For God have not

[43:18] given us the spirit of fear but of power

[43:21] and of love and of a sound mind God

[43:24] wants us to pray boldly for for his

[43:29] power so here are some practical things

[43:33] that you can do to show you're serious

[43:36] with God When you

[43:41] pray number one practical element pray

[43:44] with your eyes

[43:47] closed say why would you do that to help

[43:50] eliminate distractions of the

[43:54] eye remember the the description of

[43:58] Temptation the lust of the flesh the

[44:02] pride of life and there's one in the

[44:03] middle it's called the lust of

[44:05] the

[44:07] eyes my eye gate can distract me in my

[44:10] prayer

[44:12] life so why do I close my eyes when I

[44:15] pray so often it's to block

[44:18] out the distractions around

[44:21] me to focus my thoughts on communicating

[44:26] with God

[44:29] secondly pray on your knees if you're

[44:34] able there's something about changing

[44:36] your physical

[44:38] stature now some

[44:41] can't but find you a

[44:44] chair lay across the bed whatever you

[44:47] got to do to change your stature so when

[44:50] you go to pray it's not like it is all

[44:54] the other times

[44:58] sometimes you can go sit at the dining

[44:59] room

[45:00] table and

[45:03] pray but sometimes you may go to sit at

[45:05] the dining room table and the bacon and

[45:08] eggs plate still there from breakfast

[45:10] that

[45:12] morning well actually the toast and the

[45:15] bacon is there eggs cost too much

[45:19] money but the breakfast PL is still

[45:21] there so you're still sitting where you

[45:23] ate

[45:24] breakfast I'd encourage you just do it

[45:26] just just try it out change

[45:30] seats don't sit in your normal seat

[45:33] where you eat

[45:35] at just be intentional in

[45:39] it if you're able to get on your

[45:42] knees but a change in position does

[45:46] something to our hearts that now it's

[45:48] praying

[45:49] time it's praying

[45:52] time not only do you bow your heads you

[45:56] get on your

[45:57] knees to show your seriousness to God

[46:01] pray out

[46:02] loud say what if somebody in my house

[46:04] hears

[46:06] me what a

[46:11] testimony be a testimony for your kids

[46:14] wake up in the morning I hear noise

[46:17] what's that voice oh that's dad praying

[46:20] that's Mom praying pray out

[46:24] loud I know you can pray in your brain

[46:26] and you pray in your thoughts but pray

[46:28] out

[46:29] loud also pray

[46:32] repeatedly pray

[46:34] repeatedly Elijah prayed seven times for

[46:38] rain I don't think it was a really long

[46:41] prayer but it was targeted it was

[46:44] targeted for

[46:46] rain so he prayed seven times pray

[46:50] repeatedly that means you might need to

[46:53] make a prayer list

[46:58] now we have a guy that comes to our

[47:00] men's prayer meetings every Sunday

[47:01] morning we meet at 9:30 in my office we

[47:03] got a group of guys that come in and we

[47:05] spend time praying for the needs and so

[47:07] we have a man that he puts it in his

[47:09] phone for us he shares that note with us

[47:11] so we got that prayer list access to it

[47:13] can pray on it anytime during the

[47:15] week so I got that I I've got notes that

[47:17] I've wrote down in my phone because I

[47:19] usually have my phone with me so I got

[47:21] notes my wife is not a digital

[47:24] notetaker but she got a binder that's

[47:27] her prayer Journal binder and it's got

[47:29] stuff written inside it I know other

[47:31] people take the missionary prayer list

[47:33] that's out there the bus kid prayer list

[47:36] that's out there the church member

[47:38] prayer list that's out there and they

[47:39] just pray down the list that way years

[47:43] ago we had an evangelist come through

[47:44] him and his wife with the fellowship

[47:46] track League they played the guitars and

[47:49] sang you remember them

[47:50] coming Brother Bruce delang and his wife

[47:53] mared Brother Bruce called me two weeks

[47:55] ago said hey it's your your day I said

[47:58] it is he goes yep he goes my my prayer

[48:01] list for preachers has gotten so long

[48:03] that I had to divide it into days

[48:06] instead of just praying it all he said

[48:08] because I ended up just saying the name

[48:11] just saying the name just saying the

[48:12] name and I wasn't really doing what I

[48:14] should prayer wise so he said today is

[48:16] your day what can I pray for you about

[48:19] today so we did we talked for a little

[48:21] bit and he prayed with me over the

[48:23] phone and so be intentional in your

[48:26] prayer had on opportunity this week pray

[48:28] with a missionary in Paraguay called me

[48:30] from Paraguay and was telling me a

[48:32] little bit about himself and they

[48:34] unfortunately had lost a child uh to

[48:37] cancer while they were on the mission

[48:39] field so we had the conversation I got

[48:41] to pray with them over the phone had

[48:43] other opportunities pray with people

[48:44] over the phone pray with people in

[48:46] person pray with those around

[48:49] you

[48:52] pray there's nothing magical about any

[48:56] of the things I just

[48:58] mentioned but they can help you

[49:00] demonstrate the seriousness of your

[49:03] prayer also pray with a pure

[49:09] heart pray with a pure

[49:13] heart make sure this is

[49:16] right before you make your request to

[49:20] God so make sure your heart is right now

[49:25] God is looking for some people people

[49:27] who will be like Elijah and pray big

[49:31] prayers are you taking advantage of the

[49:34] power of Prayer in your

[49:38] life what kind of big

[49:40] things does God want you to pray

[49:45] for I know we all have our regular

[49:49] list what's the big

[49:52] things that God's put on your heart to

[49:55] pray for

[49:57] and do

[49:58] you do you pray for those do you go to

[50:02] God In

[50:03] Prayer for those prayers now listen

[50:06] Elijah's just like we

[50:08] are struggles is subject to the same

[50:10] passions like as we

[50:13] are but he was a righteous

[50:16] man so just as we struggle with the same

[50:19] things we can also be

[50:21] righteous which means we can pray big

[50:24] prayers because we got a big God who's

[50:27] able to do exceeding abundantly above

[50:29] all that we could

[50:30] ask or think what does that mean think

[50:34] about that verse God is able to do more

[50:37] than what you can pray

[50:40] for so how big is your prayer

[50:43] request you say well he hadn't answered

[50:45] it yet keep

[50:47] praying well what if he doesn't answer

[50:50] keep

[50:52] praying so

[50:54] tonight examine are we praying big

[50:57] prayers like

[50:58] Elijah if not why

[51:02] not secondly examine your heart is your

[51:06] heart right is it

[51:09] pure third if you got some big prayer

[51:12] requests pray about

[61:41] on with his lungs and the doctors are in

[61:44] a holding pattern right now uh what's

[61:47] going on and the pressure that's there

[61:49] is one cimeter away from them taking

[61:55] got some lung issues that he's really

[61:56] dealing with making it difficult for him

[61:57] so really pray for brother walker uh we

[62:00] greatly appreciate that that'd be a good

[62:10] they're dealing with as well I think she

[62:12] had a lot of doctor's appointments last

[62:19] Miss Leah and for brother Tim we'd

[62:24] you remember the Mason Troy Mason and

[62:27] his wife and rosemary their oldest

[62:30] daughter

[62:31] Rachel lives in South Carolina I believe

[62:34] and had a house fire and lost their

[62:36] whole house thankfully she was able to

[62:39] get her kids out of the house um they

[62:42] were in one part of the house and the

[62:44] other side of the house fully engulfed

[62:46] in flames and she had to run into the

[62:47] nursery while it was on fire get her six

[62:49] Monon old out of the nursery but thank

[62:51] the lord they're all safe but they did

[62:54] lose their whole entire home and so pray

[62:56] for the N family Dustin and Rachel n as

[63:00] uh that's a difficult situation to go

[63:02] through and so but pray for them as

[63:05] they're restarting their life over got

[63:07] four little kids and so pray for Dustin

[63:10] and Rachel and their four young ones as

[63:12] they lost their home okay uh pray for

[63:15] the Rodriguez family I believe that's

[63:17] how it's pronounced he's an associate

[63:20] pastor in Missouri his wife's been

[63:23] battling in the hospital and she pass

[63:25] passed away this past week and the

[63:28] funeral is going to be this week so pray

[63:30] for them and their church and her pastor

[63:33] is Brother Bill Marshall pray for

[63:35] brother Marshall as he ministers in that

[63:37] situation as well okay I want to give

[63:40] you an update we had uh as we talked

[63:42] about best Sunday we had

[63:44] $518 188 come in in the change offering

[63:48] in the morning and then we had over $300

[63:51] come in in the night service for the

[63:54] change offering and then brother Hall

[63:56] texted me it was close to $37 that

[63:58] people dropped in the little bucket that

[64:00] they had on their table and so praise

[64:02] the Lord for that close to $900 for

[64:05] Bibles and reaching the loss there so

[64:08] praise the Lord for that thank you for

[64:09] giving to that project uh that was such

[64:12] an encouragement to them and so you keep

[64:14] praying for them uh they'll be traveling

[64:16] tomorrow headed to their next meeting so
