[0:02] revealed we're excited you've taken the

[0:04] time to stop by today we're in chapter

[0:06] 22 of the book of revelation in the

[0:08] first two verses and so we're looking

[0:10] forward to continuing our series and

[0:12] working up wrapping up the end of the

[0:14] book of revelation and so i believe

[0:16] we're in the week 60s and so we're we're

[0:19] excited about that and so verse number

[0:22] one it says and he now the he

[0:24] referencing the angel who john

[0:26] referenced in chapter number 21

[0:29] and he showed me a pure river

[0:32] of water of life

[0:34] clear as crystal proceeding out of the

[0:38] throne of god and of the lamb

[0:40] and so john sees this river this river

[0:44] is a pure river it's an unpolluted river

[0:47] now one of the interesting things is to

[0:50] consider the source of where this river

[0:52] flows from it flows from the throne of

[0:55] god and of the lamb so this pure river

[0:58] because god is a holy god there's no

[1:01] unrighteousness there's no impurities

[1:03] with him the river flows from the throne

[1:06] of god and of the lamb

[1:08] and so you'll notice also it's one

[1:10] throne because god and the lamb are the

[1:13] same person there's one that's in three

[1:15] distinct personalities but it's one god

[1:19] and so there's this pure river of water

[1:22] of life and so the the descriptor terms

[1:26] here talk about this water is just not

[1:28] any water but it's the water of life

[1:31] it's got some

[1:33] everlasting power in it now how that

[1:35] plays out in eternity we're not aware

[1:38] but it's a special water a water that

[1:41] flows from god himself from the throne

[1:44] of god so the water of life and the

[1:46] descriptor term clear as crystal and

[1:49] isn't it interesting

[1:51] today we say is it crystal clear not

[1:54] clear as crystal we kind of invert that

[1:57] but it's clear as crystal so the

[1:59] descriptor there is how purely clear it

[2:02] is how clean this water is and it

[2:06] proceeds out of the throne of god and of

[2:08] the lamb so the water flows

[2:11] all down

[2:12] from the throne

[2:14] verse number two

[2:15] in the midst of the street of it

[2:18] and on either side of the river

[2:22] was there the tree of life which bear 12

[2:26] manner of fruits and yielded her fruit

[2:29] every month and the leaves of the tree

[2:32] were for the healing of the nation so in

[2:35] the midst of the street of gold

[2:38] and on either side of the river

[2:41] was there the tree of life and so

[2:44] there's this street of gold that goes to

[2:46] the throne of god we saw it in the

[2:47] previous chapter and then now we've got

[2:49] the river that also flows

[2:51] so we've got a river flowing and then

[2:53] there's the street of gold and then it's

[2:56] in the midst of that

[2:57] but it talks about the tree of life and

[3:00] they're on either side

[3:02] of the river and it bears 12 manner of

[3:06] fruits we'll talk more about that in

[3:08] just a moment

[3:09] and so as we picture this scene there's

[3:12] the throne of god

[3:14] and from the throne of god flows a river

[3:18] and the street of gold is there flowing

[3:21] is rolling there as well and then

[3:23] there's the tree of life on both sides

[3:26] of the river

[3:27] now you may say well preacher how can

[3:29] one tree be on both sides of the river

[3:32] and the street in the middle

[3:35] and when you consider the tree of life

[3:37] you also have to remember this is a god

[3:40] tree

[3:41] this is a god-designed tree the first

[3:43] mention of the tree of life is in the

[3:44] book of genesis

[3:46] and the man aided the tree of the

[3:48] knowledge of good and evil but we find

[3:50] here the tree of life and so this term

[3:53] tree of life could possibly mean that

[3:55] it's a type of tree that it is not just

[3:59] one individual tree

[4:01] like we would say oak tree

[4:03] there's multiple

[4:05] trees that are oak it's not just one

[4:08] tree and so it could be that there is a

[4:11] growth of trees called the tree of life

[4:13] and so it is that type of tree and it is

[4:16] only that tree that grows there in the

[4:19] heavenly place

[4:21] and so the tree of life and it bears 12

[4:23] manner of fruit well that's an

[4:25] interesting tree well that's a god tree

[4:27] only god could create a tree that could

[4:29] do that

[4:30] and it's the tree that bears 12 manner

[4:33] of fruits and yielder fruit every month

[4:36] so every month there's a different fruit

[4:38] on the tree and so it's interesting when

[4:41] you consider this

[4:43] trees that are in heaven that bear this

[4:46] fruit

[4:47] and it does seem that we are able to eat

[4:51] of the fruit of the tree of life and so

[4:54] as believers we have the opportunity to

[4:57] partake of the fruit thereof

[4:59] and to eat thereof and so we have the

[5:02] eternal pure water from the river that's

[5:05] never polluted that's never contaminated

[5:08] that is the pure river of water of life

[5:11] from god i think about john chapter 4

[5:14] where jesus says that a drink of this

[5:16] water shall never thirst again and

[5:18] talked about eternal life there

[5:20] and so we find the the fruit and the

[5:23] water that flow from the throne of god

[5:26] and the twelve manner of fruit and

[5:28] yielded fruit every month and the leaves

[5:31] of the tree were for the healing of the

[5:33] nations and so as we consider that the

[5:37] the leaves of the tree were for the

[5:39] healing of the nations and you know you

[5:41] may be saying what what's wrong with the

[5:43] nations why do they need healing well we

[5:46] know that we're in eternity future

[5:49] and so they've got glo everybody's got

[5:51] glorified bodies there's no sin nature

[5:53] verse 3 tells us there's no more curse

[5:56] so why would they need to be healed

[5:58] well when you look at the phrasing of

[6:00] the words were for

[6:02] that is a continual process i believe we

[6:04] could say it this way the only way the

[6:06] nations are to be healed or only the way

[6:09] that people can come together is through

[6:11] jesus christ and we live in a world

[6:14] today do we not that people are against

[6:17] people and nation against nation but the

[6:19] only way that they'll come together is

[6:21] through the shed blood of jesus christ

[6:23] the lamb of god which taketh away the

[6:25] sin of the world and so the healing

[6:28] comes through christ the water flows

[6:31] from the throne the tree of life was

[6:33] created by god and is sustained by god

[6:36] in fact everything that happens

[6:38] in the new heaven

[6:40] happens because of god

[6:42] all the blessings we get enjoy is

[6:44] because of god all the benefits that we

[6:47] get to enjoy is because of god not

[6:49] because of us

[6:50] but because of him and so the blessing

[6:53] of the fruit the 12 manner fruit so it's

[6:55] interesting you know it's something to

[6:57] think about that it's every month so

[7:00] somehow there's a

[7:02] monthly cycle

[7:04] for this tree does that mean that

[7:06] there's a monthly cycle for eternity i

[7:09] don't know i i don't have

[7:12] any indication on that but it appears

[7:15] that there's a rotation of the fruit

[7:17] bearing time and it talks about every

[7:19] month one of the key elements to

[7:21] remember is that when

[7:23] we as human beings look at scripture we

[7:26] have a limited mind

[7:29] and god has an eternal mind and so his

[7:32] thoughts are not our thoughts and his

[7:34] ways are not our ways and so the

[7:35] structure of the verses helps us to

[7:38] consider it in our minds

[7:40] but in god's mindset it may not be that

[7:43] there's a standard of time but we also

[7:45] look at the leaves of the tree the

[7:47] healing of the nations there shall be no

[7:49] more curse

[7:50] but the throne of god and of the lamb

[7:52] shall be in it and his servants shall

[7:55] serve

[7:56] him everything's going to evolve and

[7:59] revolve around the throne

[8:02] of god in the lamb and so we look

[8:04] forward to the coming glory of heaven

[8:08] i don't know what the

[8:10] 12 different kinds of fruit are i wish i

[8:12] could tell you in my study in

[8:14] preparation for this lesson i learned of

[8:16] a fruit salad tree

[8:18] you should look up that tree it bears

[8:20] multiple different kinds of fruit but

[8:23] you should look up the fruit salad tree

[8:25] and so but we find here that that's the

[8:27] best man can do by the way it's a

[8:29] man-made grafted-in tree it's a fruit

[8:32] salad tree but god's better than that

[8:35] and it's interesting the the clearness

[8:38] the pureness of the river

[8:40] uh when you consider the water

[8:42] throughout scripture house many times it

[8:45] was filthy

[8:46] you think about naming dipping in the

[8:48] jordan river and how dirty the jordan

[8:50] river was you think about the nile river

[8:53] and scripture you think about

[8:56] water at other times throughout

[8:57] scripture and the cleansing power of

[8:59] water and the healing power of water and

[9:02] the need to for water to survive the

[9:05] thirst and so i could say this way

[9:08] without the river of life we couldn't

[9:10] survive without christ we wouldn't have

[9:13] what we need we wouldn't be able to live

[9:15] the way god intended us to live if it

[9:17] wasn't for the lord and so i look

[9:20] forward to

[9:21] continuing through the book of

[9:23] revelation chapter 22 but we could say

[9:25] this oh heaven's a wonderful place and

[9:28] it's going to have sights that you and i

[9:30] have never seen before

[9:31] it's going to be amazing

[9:33] it's going to be wonderful and i hope

[9:35] i'll get to enjoy it with you

[9:37] the only way i'll get to enjoy with you

[9:39] if you realize that you're a sinner and

[9:41] you've called upon jesus christ to save

[9:42] you

[9:43] that's how you'll get to enjoy heaven if

[9:46] you put your faith and trust in him but

[9:48] if you have not you don't get to see the

[9:51] tree of life

[9:52] you don't get to see the clear crystal

[9:54] river that's pure flowing from the

[9:56] throne of god you won't get to partake

[9:59] of the fruit of the tree of life i look

[10:01] forward to heaven and i hope you're

[10:03] looking forward to heaven as well

[10:05] be of good cheer the best is yet to come

[10:08] and god has not fully revealed to us

[10:11] all the blessings that we'll enjoy

[10:13] now i want to remind you of something

[10:15] there are those who have deferring

[10:17] opinions

[10:18] when it comes to this section of

[10:20] scripture

[10:22] some people interpret this section that

[10:24] the water flowing from god refers to

[10:26] nations

[10:28] and they try to use revelation chapter

[10:30] 17 to prove that i don't see that to be

[10:33] the case here i think it's a clear

[10:36] literal interpretation of the passage

[10:39] some try to use ezekiel chapter 47

[10:42] verses 1 through 12 to talk about this

[10:45] pure river of water and the fruit of the

[10:48] tree of life but ezekiel 47 verses 1

[10:52] through 12 when you take it into its

[10:54] context you realize that it has to refer

[10:57] to the millennial kingdom not eternity

[11:00] future uh one of the key characteristics

[11:03] in that is you see in ezekiel 47 that

[11:06] the measurement of the sanctuary of god

[11:08] is 1 000 cubits and new jerusalem is

[11:11] 1500

[11:14] miles squared and so it's it's a

[11:16] different dimensions

[11:18] you also notice that uh there are times

[11:22] and the water is flowing that the water

[11:24] is at different depths in ezekiel 47

[11:27] that the water at times

[11:29] also does not heal

[11:31] everything and so ezekiel 47 references

[11:35] the millennial kingdom it's prophetic in

[11:38] ezekiel 47 verses 1 through 12 dealing

[11:40] with the river but also continuing on in

[11:42] the chapter you'll find the divisions of

[11:44] nations and everything else revolving

[11:46] around the millennial kingdom and god is

[11:48] going to restore

[11:50] the land uh to a better place than it is

[11:53] because of the tribulation period the

[11:55] destruction will come god will restore

[11:57] part of the land but it will still need

[11:59] a new heaven and a new earth and so

[12:03] ezekiel 47 is a passage that

[12:06] can be confusing at times but if you

[12:08] study it out you'll find it's

[12:10] referencing the millennial kingdom and

[12:13] so as we look at this passage it is a

[12:15] real river

[12:17] it's real trees it's real fruit

[12:20] and people are going to partake thereof

[12:22] but the underlying premise is this is

[12:24] that everything in heaven revolves

[12:26] around god and the throne of god and the

[12:30] power of the lamb thank you for tuning
