[23:59] text in Ephesians chapter

[24:03] 5 verse number

[24:06] 20 we find the instruction to be filled

[24:12] with the spirit a Spirit-filled person a

[24:16] person being led and controlled by the

[24:19] holy spirit in verse number 18 has it

[24:23] come out in their life in verse number

[24:26] 20 giving thanks

[24:29] always for all things unto God and the

[24:33] father in the name of our Lord Jesus

[24:38] Christ we ought to give thanks

[24:43] always it ought to be a pattern of our

[24:48] life I want to share with you the

[24:52] importance of giving

[24:55] thanks by taking us to the book of

[24:58] Romans chapter number

[25:01] one The Book of Romans chapter number

[25:10] one and verse number

[25:19] 21 the Lord describing the apostasy

[25:23] that's

[25:24] happening he says

[25:26] beware that when they knew God they

[25:30] glorified him not as God neither were

[25:35] what's the next word there church

[25:40] thankful but

[25:42] became vain in their

[25:45] imaginations and their foolish heart was

[25:47] darkened professing themselves to be

[25:50] wise they became fools and changed the

[25:53] glory of the uncorruptible god into an

[25:55] image made like corruptible man to birds

[25:59] and four-footed beasts and creeping

[26:02] things wherefore God also gave them up

[26:04] to their

[26:05] uncleanness through the lust of their

[26:07] own Hearts to dishonor their own bodies

[26:11] between

[26:13] themselves the passage continues

[26:17] on but it's

[26:19] interesting they knew God and they

[26:22] didn't glorify him as God and they were

[26:26] not thankful

[26:29] the downward

[26:31] progression

[26:33] begins when you don't glorify God and

[26:37] you develop a spirit of unthankfulness

[26:39] in your

[26:41] heart

[26:44] unthankfulness in the life of a Believer

[26:49] shrinks down God in our

[26:55] lives because when you're thankful God

[26:58] is Big when you're thankful and you

[27:01] realize all that he's done he's a

[27:04] wonderful savior he's a marvelous savior

[27:08] he's a wonderful God but when you have a

[27:11] spirit of unthankfulness he

[27:15] minimizes an unthankful spirit is the

[27:18] shrink ray that shrinks our view of

[27:21] God by being

[27:26] unthankful so iians 5 were to give

[27:31] thanks always in all

[27:34] things all things we ought to thank God

[27:36] for all the things he gives

[27:38] us

[27:39] amen what does he give us he gives us

[27:42] all

[27:43] things so we ought to give thanks for

[27:45] all things that Christ gives us and he

[27:47] gives us all things so we ought to be

[27:49] thankful for all things that we get from

[27:53] him so there's this mindset that has to

[27:57] be in the life life of every

[27:59] believer giving thanks always you always

[28:03] have something to thank God

[28:05] for you woke up in the morning you have

[28:09] something to thank God for you woke up

[28:12] you're breathing air that God provided

[28:16] you have something to thank God

[28:18] for you have blood pumping through your

[28:21] body you have something to thank God

[28:25] for how could we be un thanful thankful

[28:29] for a god who's given us so

[28:34] much how could Believers get

[28:38] there we can just take it for

[28:42] granted that God gave it that God

[28:48] provided it that God is the one who

[28:51] giveth all things we can take it for

[28:55] granted have you ever done it

[28:59] you ever taken for granted that he gave

[29:02] you

[29:03] life he gave you breath he gave you

[29:08] energy he gave you shoes on your

[29:13] feet gave you plenty to

[29:18] eat he he gave he gave he gave he

[29:24] gave but yet we won't return Thanks to

[29:27] him

[29:29] it's a spirit of unthankfulness and it

[29:31] minimizes our view of

[29:35] God so a Spirit-filled

[29:38] believer has an attitude of

[29:42] gratitude a Spirit-filled believer wakes

[29:45] up every day God thank

[29:48] you thank you thank you thank

[29:52] you spirit filled believer has an

[29:55] attitude of thanks for all all that he

[29:59] done then in first

[30:09] Thessalonians it says in

[30:14] everything give thanks for this is the

[30:18] will of God in Christ Jesus concerning

[30:22] you in everything give

[30:26] thanks everything

[30:30] and everything give thanks for this is

[30:32] the will of God in Christ Jesus

[30:35] concerning you sometimes it's difficult

[30:39] and we think that the will of God is

[30:41] some ethereal thing that's out there and

[30:42] we got to go find it and really the will

[30:45] of God is just following God day after

[30:49] day after day after

[30:51] day so I'm going to illustrate

[30:55] tonight Brother Sam and brother Brady

[31:04] familiar with the layout of the

[31:06] auditorium you've been here quite often

[31:09] you've even been here in the dark and

[31:16] going to let you go on a journey around

[31:19] the auditorium anywhere you want to go

[31:22] stay in the auditorium but you can go on

[31:25] a journey Bren you got one job

[31:29] follow him that's your one job just

[31:32] follow him okay so you can go anywhere

[31:35] so go on your journey and you just

[31:37] follow

[31:38] him in the life of a Christian we we

[31:42] sometimes forget that it's everything

[31:45] where to give thanks in

[31:48] everything no matter no matter what

[31:50] we're facing no matter the hardships

[31:53] that are in life in everything we're

[31:56] give to give thanks but we don't always

[31:58] think about it we don't always think

[32:00] about the giving of thanks being

[32:02] something that we enjoy because we don't

[32:05] like hard things we don't like difficult

[32:08] things but in everything we're to give

[32:10] thanks and so the Journey of of a

[32:13] Christian Life is being in the will of

[32:16] God and the will of God is just to

[32:19] journey and to follow God and to be

[32:22] where God wants you to be in everything

[32:24] in our life we're to give thanks to God

[32:27] and we're to focus on him and to

[32:30] consider him for all that we do and so

[32:33] this journey of life can be difficult it

[32:36] can be hard it could go into areas that

[32:39] we don't always want to enjoy but we are

[32:42] to follow and be where God wants us to

[32:45] be so the will of God is not out there

[32:48] somewhere uh the will of God is being

[32:51] with God and Walking with God on a daily

[32:54] basis and we're just to follow God in

[32:57] wherever we we go and so our passage

[33:00] tells us to Rejoice ever more to pray

[33:03] without ceasing in verse number 19 it

[33:06] says to quench not the spirit and so the

[33:09] spirit that worketh in us has a plan to

[33:12] accomplish things in us but we've got to

[33:15] understand that we're just to follow God

[33:17] and you guys can work your way back up

[33:19] here if you would and so in this journey

[33:22] of the Christian Life we are to follow

[33:26] God and do what God would have us to do

[33:28] and so would you guys come right back up

[33:31] here all

[33:33] right brother Sam where are

[33:38] you you're where you decid to be you're

[33:40] in the auditorium you're there Braden

[33:43] where are

[33:44] you yeah you're with

[33:46] him right you're just with him now when

[34:01] follow I asked him to follow and he said

[34:07] Christian Life we got to understand this

[34:09] we don't always know the Journey of

[34:11] following Jesus where it's going to take

[34:13] us but at the end of the day you're with

[34:15] him and if you're with him you're right

[34:17] where you're supposed to be even if it's

[34:20] in a hard place you're right where

[34:21] you're supposed to be even if it's in a

[34:24] difficult place you're still with him

[34:26] and with him is the best place you can

[34:29] be in everything no matter what comes

[34:31] your way you can give thanks because

[34:34] you're with

[34:35] him well you know what'll be hard when

[34:38] you're not with

[34:41] him when you're not with him you don't

[34:45] have him as the comforter you don't have

[34:48] him as the guide you don't have him to

[34:52] help when you fall but when you're with

[34:55] him and you're in the will of God and

[34:57] you're walking with him all you got to

[35:00] focus on is being with God

[35:04] today the will of God is not out there

[35:07] in la la land it is being with God

[35:10] today just walking with God

[35:14] today with him and if I'm with him and

[35:18] I'm spirit filled when I'm near him

[35:21] guess what's going to happen I'm going

[35:22] to have an attitude of

[35:24] gratitude I'm going to give thanks in

[35:27] everything

[35:29] what if I don't like the circumstances

[35:31] I'm with him what does that mean he led

[35:34] me to them to lead me through them in

[35:39] case you missed it I say it again what

[35:41] if I don't like the circum he led me to

[35:43] them because I'm with him he's the one

[35:45] that's leading the steps of a good man

[35:46] are ordered by the Lord if I'm with him

[35:49] he led me to them to lead me through

[35:52] them hey today's been a hard afternoon I

[35:56] went to Patty cas's house house with the

[35:58] deacons and we stopped and we sat down

[36:00] with her and Joe and we prayed and you

[36:03] know the cancer diagnosis is pretty

[36:05] severe tomorrow at 11 o'clock she'll

[36:07] meet the

[36:09] oncologist I looked her in the eye today

[36:11] church and I said to her one way or

[36:13] another you're going to be cancer free

[36:15] either here on Earth or in

[36:18] heaven one way or another God's going to

[36:20] take you through

[36:22] this but at the end of the day we are to

[36:24] give thanks unto God for everything and

[36:28] guess what when we're with him he

[36:30] brought us to that point and he'll lead

[36:32] us through that point so you might as

[36:34] well enjoy the journey and give him

[36:35] thanks because you're with him you're

[36:38] just with him life gets difficult life

[36:41] gets hard attitude of a UNG gratitude

[36:44] seeps in and you get a spirit of

[36:48] unthankfulness when you're not walking

[36:49] with

[36:51] him they glorified him not as God

[36:58] neither were

[37:01] thankful we see the downward progression

[37:04] that happened from there you know what

[37:06] happens when you're ungrateful and

[37:08] you're

[37:09] unthankful your view of God

[37:12] decreases and the enticement of sin

[37:17] increases because we could be like

[37:20] Joseph of old when our view of God is

[37:23] Big we would say how can I do this great

[37:27] Wicked

[37:28] and sin against

[37:31] God but when I'm walking away from him

[37:34] and not with

[37:36] him I'm enticed and drawn away of my own

[37:41] lust my own thoughts and my own

[37:45] desires don't get wrapped up in the Sin

[37:48] of

[37:49] unthankfulness it is a sin to be

[37:53] unthankful he said in everything give

[37:56] thanks that's not

[37:59] optional he said giving thanks to God

[38:01] always in all things it's not

[38:05] optional but you know what happens is we

[38:08] make it a respectable sin it's not that

[38:12] bad just to be unth it's still sin and

[38:16] sin

[38:18] stinks why would you want a sin of

[38:21] unthankfulness in your

[38:24] life why would you wake up

[38:28] and go throughout the day and

[38:31] ignore

[38:33] God we to give thanks to

[38:36] God thanks to God in everything give

[38:40] thanks to God for this is the will of

[38:42] God in Christ Jesus concerning you God's

[38:45] will for you is to give thanks in all

[38:51] things you know when we don't when we're

[38:53] not walking with

[38:55] him is when I'm not walking with him

[38:58] like I should the thing that I'm in is

[39:01] bigger than him but when I'm walking

[39:05] with him like I should everything else

[39:08] is smaller than God because God is

[39:11] greater and God Is Bigger Than

[39:15] That So tonight do you need to repent of

[39:19] the sin of

[39:22] unthankfulness hey maybe maybe just like

[39:25] our video God needs to take some things

[39:35] case but instead let's practice an

[39:38] attitude of gratitude and thanking God

[39:41] for all that he's given to

[39:44] us don't get caught in the Sin of

[39:49] unthankfulness choose rather to give

[39:59] for we do we have a lot to thank him

[40:06] for many will sit around the table on

[40:09] Thanksgiving day and all of a sudden

[40:11] look around table all right who's got

[40:13] something they're thankful

[40:17] for but every day you're breathing you

[40:20] ought to have a heart and an attitude

[40:22] God thank

[40:24] you thank you thank you thank you thank

[40:32] choice you can slip into an attitude of

[40:37] unthankfulness real easy when you think

[40:40] you deserve what you

[40:43] got when you think I earned

[40:47] this when you think it's my fruit my

[40:50] labor my hands my work it's not it's all

[40:55] Lord's all the praise belongs to him all

[40:59] the praise belongs to

[41:02] Jesus so do you have an attitude of

[41:05] unthankfulness or do you have an

[41:07] attitude of

[41:09] gratitude

[41:11] tonight maybe you just need to thank

[41:16] God not just like thank you God for

[41:19] giving me life be
