[0:00] of Tampa. We also have McDale Air Force
[0:02] Base,
[0:04] >> Homeless Central Command.
[0:06] >> Well, listen, I know you guys have a
[0:08] tough job on your hands there tonight.
[0:09] We thank you for coming on and uh
[0:11] sharing with us your perspective. Uh
[0:13] hopefully we'll be able to talk to you
[0:14] again, Joe Durkin, Tampa Police. Thanks
[0:16] so much.
[0:17] >> So, there you have it. The situation as
[0:19] we're following it right now, one that
[0:21] certainly is going to require a lot of
[0:23] thought with uh many uh officials here
[0:25] as far as securing airports. Uh what
[0:28] you're looking at is a Sesna 172. Tampa
[0:32] officials say they're uh efforting now
[0:34] to try and somehow get this uh what's
[0:37] left of this uh this Sesna 172 down from
[0:39] the 28th floor of this 42story building.
[0:42] It is a Bank of America building right
[0:45] smack dab in the middle of uh Tampa,
[0:47] Florida. Once again, the uh pilot of
[0:49] this plane is appears to be uh the u the
[0:53] only person who has died on the scene.
[0:55] We mentioned there were 15 people in the
[0:56] building at the time, but none of them
[0:58] were injured. Uh the pilot is a ninth
[1:00] grader, an honor student who had been
[1:02] taking flying lessons for quite some
[1:04] time. Some say he was already quite
[1:06] adept, but because he's 15, obviously he
[1:08] would not be allowed to fly alone. The
[1:10] plane where he was taking lessons from
[1:11] is belongs to a National Aviation Flight
[1:15] School. Uh we understand that uh the uh
[1:18] the uh person who was going to be giving
[1:20] the lesson to this young man uh had not
[1:23] yet shown up. he took off by himself
[1:25] without his uh instructor and that he
[1:28] was followed
