[1:14] Lincoln.
[1:15] This party was born of the conviction
[1:19] that the federal government had a
[1:21] definite and a decisive role to play in
[1:24] securing the protection of the rights of
[1:27] the individual American.

[1:34] federal action
[1:35] to prevent the spread of slavery
[1:38] into new areas
[1:41] that the Republican Party first came
