[0:00] I think in order to lead with full
[0:02] empathy it starts with you the person
[0:05] you have to be able to drop your own ego
[0:08] be humble and show up with genuine good
[0:10] intentions right so this means you are
[0:12] listening to the people on your team and
[0:14] actually truly like actively listening
[0:17] to what they want what they need and I
[0:19] think the other big thing that goes
[0:20] along with this is that there's no need
[0:23] for competition sometimes I feel like
[0:25] people get caught up in like oh or I can
[0:27] only succeed if I'm doing better than
[0:28] other people and it does doesn't have to
[0:30] be that way like there's room for
[0:31] everybody to win and it's better for the
[0:33] business and your users as well now how
[0:35] do you balance uh this kind of high
[0:37] empathy and care with holding that high
[0:39] bar for excellence there's this common
[0:41] misconception that both empathy and
[0:43] holding a high bar have to be mutually
[0:45] exclusive and I just don't think that
[0:47] that's true I think you can do both at
[0:49] the same time one of my favorite
[0:51] examples is this leader who I really
[0:53] like respect and love working with at
[0:54] stripe will say in a meeting to someone
[0:56] on their team like I love you but this
[0:57] is terrible and let's work on it
[0:59] together to get it to a great place and
[1:01] we need to be able to give our teams the
[1:04] difficult feedback like that but the
[1:06] important thing in delivering that
[1:08] feedback is framing it in a way that's
[1:11] objective one of the rules that I like
[1:13] to set is that I I have a goal to give
[1:15] feedback within 24 hours with actual
[1:18] examples so that it's super clear and I
[1:20] do th
