[0:00] got out of hand. The country is soon in

[0:02] crisis. The American Heart Association

[0:05] is changing its recommendations for

[0:07] women considering hormone replacement.

[0:10] We'll take a closer look tonight at pawn

[0:12] shops and gun sales. The National Rifle

[0:14] Association and the Sheriffs who

[0:17] disagree. And on the road to anywhere,

[0:19] ABC's Mike Lee tonight from West Africa,

[0:23] going out in style.

[0:28] From ABC News World Headquarters in New

[0:31] York, this is World News Tonight with

[0:34] Peter Jennings. Good evening everyone.

[0:35] The president saw the Pope today and the

[0:37] Pope told the president in no uncertain

[0:39] terms that research involving embryionic

[0:41] stem cells was an evil on the same level

[0:44] as infanticide.

[0:46] The debate about experimenting on human

[0:48] embryos, which might lead to a cure for

[0:50] some very serious diseases, including

[0:52] Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, has been on

[0:55] the president's mind for many weeks and

[0:57] has, as you know, become a very intense

[0:59] political as well as a moral argument.

[1:02] ABC's Terry Moran was with the president

[1:04] at Castell Gondulo in Italy and tonight

[1:06] is in Rome. Terry,

[1:08] well, Peter, George W. Bush is the

[1:10] fourth US president to meet with John

[1:13] Paul II. And for this president, the

[1:15] Pope had a very specific and very

[1:17] pointed

[1:19] message. The Polish Pope greeted the

[1:22] American president, gently taking Mr.

[1:24] Bush's hand as they made their way to

[1:25] their private meeting this morning. This

[1:28] is so beautiful. The setting was

[1:30] splendid Castle Gondalfo outside Rome,

[1:33] the traditional summer residence of

[1:34] popes. Aid said Mr. Bush was in awe of

[1:37] John
