[0:00] That's right.
[0:01] >> Whether alcohol was a factor in these
[0:03] incidents, I do not know. In any event,
[0:05] alcohol at best can only be a partial
[0:08] explanation, not an excuse. When I was
[0:10] originally interviewed by the Washington
[0:12] Post, I honestly believe these events
[0:14] had never occurred. I denied them to the
[0:17] Post, to my friends, and to myself. I
[0:20] never consciously intended to offend any
[0:22] women. I therefore offer my deepest
[0:24] apologies to all those involved and to
[0:27] the people of Oregon. If I take the
[0:29] proper steps, I hope my past conduct is

[0:59] people of Oregon and our country. I am
[1:01] confident that I can address my problems
[1:03] and continue to be an extremely
[1:05] effective voice for Oregon in the United
[1:08] States Senate.
[1:08] >> I'm not the only person.
[1:10] >> Two alleged victims named in the
[1:12] Washington Post article do not buy
[1:14] Senator Pacwood's statement. It appears
[1:16] to be an attempt to blame his behavior
[1:20] partially, at least on alcohol.
[1:22] And at least in the situation that I was
[1:25] in, there was no alcohol involved. It's
[1:29] hard to believe the sincerity of the
[1:31] apology. um
[1:34] because of the Post'
