[0:51] >> Good evening. I'm Elizabeth Vargas. We

[0:54] begin tonight in Iraq as we have on so

[0:56] many nights on this broadcast. But this

[0:58] evening, the story is about two of our

[1:02] co-anchor Bob Woodruff and cameraman

[1:04] Doug Vote were on assignment in Iraq

[1:06] with a military convoy near the city of

[1:09] Taji north of Baghdad when a roadside

[1:12] bomb exploded. Bob and Doug were hit by

[1:14] shrapnel and both men sustained head

[1:16] injuries. Bob also suffered injuries to

[1:19] his upper body. Both men have emerged

[1:22] from surgery in serious but stable

[1:24] condition and they are awaiting an

[1:26] airlift to a US military hospital in

[1:28] Germany. The White House said in a

[1:30] statement, quote, "Our thoughts and

[1:32] prayers are with Mr. Woodruff and Mr.

[1:34] Vote. We are praying for their full and

[1:36] speedy recovery." We start our coverage
