[0:12] must pick up the standard that someone
[0:14] must face up to the Grave crisis that
[0:17] faces the United States of America both
[0:19] here at a home and
[0:24] abroad I served in all the deliberations
[0:27] of the platform committee and on the
[0:29] staff that drafted this report and I too
[0:32] join the chairman and the members for
[0:33] the very constructive approach to the
[0:36] problems and the crises here in the
[0:37] United States but I would like to
[0:39] present to this convention a platform
[0:43] that the chairman suggested which really
[0:44] is the most forward-looking document
[0:46] that perhaps this Democratic party all
[0:48] the United States has ever seen it
[0:50] speaks to the great problems of the
[0:52] United States the problems of the city
[0:54] the problems of civil rights the problem
[0:57] that the Kern report addressed itself to
[0:59] the problems of the lack of Education of
[1:00] many of our citizens the problem of our
[1:02] older citizens of Labor of old age of
[1:05] all of the things that affect the United
[1:07] States of America and it speakes them in
[1:09] terms of a crisis that must be met we in
[1:12] the platform committee wrote a document
[1:14] that looks to the Future and not to the
[1:16] Past until a plank was introduced that
[1:20] in my judgment does not face the crisis
[1:22] of the future the platform we wrote
[1:24] calls upon you as delegates Congress to
[1:28] face up to the problems of America it
[1:31] calls up
