[0:05] >> from around the world and from CBS News
[0:08] headquarters in New York. This is the
[0:10] CBS Evening News with Dan Rather. And
[0:14] tonight, Texas politics and big money,
[0:18] Bill Moyers on the highest biders.
[0:22] >> Good evening. The United States,
[0:24] concerned about Cuban subversive
[0:25] activity in Latin America, is flexing
[0:28] its naval muscle in the Caribbean off
[0:30] the coasts of Nicaragua and El Salvador.
[0:32] One destroyer with sophisticated

[1:11] reports,
[1:13] Mr. Reagan's speech on the Caribbean
[1:15] will contain sternly worded warnings to
[1:17] Cuba and other leftist governments in
[1:19] the region, but no specific threat of
[1:21] action. In a draft of the speech, the
[1:23] president deplores what is termed the
[1:25] ever tightening grip of the totalitarian
[1:27] left on Nicaragua and Grenada and
[1:30] suggests that Havana's ultimate goal
[1:32] since 1978 is to impose Cuban style
[1:35] Marxist dictatorships with Nicaragua and
[1:38] El Sa
