[0:00] An earthquake in Haiti resumes after
[0:02] this little animation.
[0:05] [music]
[0:06] >> This is CNN breaking news.
[0:10] >> I'm Wolf Blitzer. We're here in the
[0:12] situation room. We're watching an awful
[0:13] situation unfold in Haiti where there's
[0:16] been a 7.0 earthquake not far, only
[0:19] about 10 or 15 miles from Porta Prince,
[0:21] the capital of Haiti. Uh this is a city
[0:24] of 2 million people. 9 million people
[0:27] live in in Haiti. It's one of the most
[0:30] po uh highly populated areas in the
[0:33] world. This is the poorest country in
[0:35] the western hemisphere. Uh and uh we're
[0:38] watching what's going on. I want to
[0:39] bring in John Bellini. He's a geoysicist

[1:13] Chad, set the scene for our viewers
[1:14] around the world right now. What we
[1:16] know.
[1:17] >> 7.0 magnitude earthquake. Very, very
[1:20] strong earthquake, not very far from the
[1:22] surface of the earth, Wolf. And that's a
[1:24] problem. Had this earthquake been been a
[1:27] hundred miles below the surface, this
[1:29] would not be such a large quake. But
[1:31] because the shaking happened and the the
[1:33] the seam, the break happened so close to
[1:36] the surface, we have a lot of shaking
[1:38] going on. I'm going to leave t
