[0:08] It is Friday morning, March the 21st,

[0:11] 2003. Welcome to a special edition of

[0:14] Today, Target Iraq. Those are American

[0:16] troops rumbling through southern Iraq,

[0:19] southern Iraq, rather, on the sandy road

[0:21] to Baghdad. Estimates are that they will

[0:23] be in the capital city within the next 3

[0:26] to four days.

[0:28] The US military has been pursuing

[0:30] operation Iraqi freedom in western and

[0:32] northern Iraq as well. I'm Katie Kurrick

[0:34] in New York. It is 10:00 a.m. Eastern

[0:37] time, 7:00 a.m. Pacific. Matt Lowauer

[0:39] joins us this morning from Doha Cutter,

[0:41] whereas it is 600 p.m. Matt, I guess I

[0:44] should be saying good evening to you.

[0:47] >> That's right. Sun has gone down here,

[0:49] Katie. And and nighttime is a bit of a

[0:54] the home of the US Central Command, the

[0:56] military leaders who are running the

[0:58] daily operations of this war located

[1:00] just about 10 miles, somewhat over my

[1:02] shoulder. A very busy place right now.

[1:04] Let's get to the latest. The US and

[1:06] Britain are mourning the first

[1:08] casualties of the conflict. One Marine

[1:10] has been shot. Four Americans and eight

[1:13] British soldiers were killed when their

[1:15] chopper crashed returning from a mission

[1:18] in Iraq. US war plananes struck

[1:20] Republican Guard units in the northern

[1:22] city of Kirk and US troops have taken

[1:25] control of two key airfields in western

[1:27] Iraq. It is now early evening in

[1:30] Baghdad. We understand it's quiet there

[1:32] right now, but this morning B-52 bombers

[1:35] took off from an airfield in England. It

[1:38] is expected, K
