[0:00] And in Southern California
[0:06] >> Tonight on World News after the storm,
[0:08] rescuers save more than 2,000 survivors
[0:11] of Hurricane Ike. Now they're racing to
[0:13] find more. And how will Ike affect gas
[0:16] prices? A hectic and historic Sunday on
[0:19] Wall Street. One giant is teetering on
[0:21] bankruptcy and now Merrill Lynch may be
[0:24] taken over. What all this means for you.
[0:27] On message for the first time Governor
[0:29] Palin campaigns so low but sticks to the
[0:31] same script as questions multiply about
[0:34] many of her claims.
[0:36] >> I told Congress thanks, but no thanks on
[0:38] that bridge to nowhere.
[0:40] >> Also, a closer look at the church that
[0:42] helped shape the candidate. And a man

[0:48] what they've now found together.
[0:54] >> From ABC News headquarters in New York,
[0:57] this is World News.

[1:08] life is going to return to normal. Eight
[1:10] people are confirmed dead, thousands
[1:12] homeless, and nearly 3 million people
[1:14] have no electricity right now. Rescuers
[1:17] have saved more than 2,000 people who
[1:19] ignored the evacuation orders and
[1:21] they're scrambling to find others who
[1:23] might still be stranded. In Houston,
[1:25] there's going to be a nighttime curfew
[1:27] all week. Schools will stay closed
[1:29] tomorrow and many businesses have been
[1:31] shut until further notice. But the worst
[1:34] of it is along the coast and that is
[1:36] where we start tonight with ABC's Ryan
[1:38] Owens who's in Galveston, Texas. Ryan,
