[0:00] Extraordinary.
[0:01] Now there's a global newscast that
[0:03] captures it all. Not just here at home,
[0:06] but around the world. Watched by
[0:09] millions in nearly 200 countries who
[0:11] together will discover just how
[0:13] remarkable this day has been.
[0:17] World View, week night, 6 Eastern on
[0:19] CNN.
[0:36] As we said, Word Perfect was once the
[0:37] world's dominant word processing
[0:39] program. It is now attempting to make a
[0:42] comeback with a new owner. Can it regain
[0:44] its title from the current leader,
[0:46] Microsoft Word? Well, if it can, it'll
[0:49] mean a big boost to a new high-tech

[1:14] What is striking is that these high-tech
[1:16] companies are not in California's
[1:17] Silicon Valley. They are not in
[1:18] Portland, Oregon or Seattle, Washington.
[1:21] They are off the beaten path in the
[1:22] quiet capital of America's biggest
[1:24] trading partner, Canada. The region goes
[1:27] by the name of the Ottawa Valley, home
[1:29] to a government town in the throws of
[1:31] cutbacks and downsizing. High technology
[1:33] has eased the impact of bad times,
[1:36] providing the local economy with 36,000
[1:38] jobs.
[1:40] >> Good afternoon, Corporation. Into this
[1:43] environment came Word Perfect, bought
[1:45] for 200 million by Carell, the maker of,
[1:47] among other products, Corell Draw, a
[1:49] leading graphics design prog
