[0:02] on Havana today for one of the biggest
[0:04] protest demonstrations staged in Cuba
[0:06] since the battle over Elellan Gonzalez
[0:08] began. Speaker after speaker came to the
[0:11] microphone, saying the boy is a
[0:13] kidnapping victim and calling for his
[0:15] immediate release.
[0:18] >> How long will we have to wait? How long
[0:22] will he have to wait? What does the
[0:24] future of a child who has been kidnapped
[0:26] matter?
[0:28] What does it matter to those people in
[0:30] Florida?
[0:31] >> The location of the demonstration
[0:32] signaled its importance. It was held at
[0:35] a place where Fidel Castro has delivered
[0:37] his most important speeches, including
[0:40] his declaration of Cuba as a socialist
[0:42] state in 1961.
[0:44] Meanwhile, Ellen Gonzalez, the child in
[0:47] the middle of the dispute, played in the
[0:49] front yard of his uncle's home in Miami
[0:51] today as he waited for his future to be
[0:53] determined by the federal courts.
[0:56] Lawyers acting on behalf of the boy's
[0:58] Miami relatives are expected in federal
[1:00] court Tuesday in an attempt to overturn
[1:03] the ruling by immigration commissioner
[1:04] Doris Meisner, which in effect order the
[1:07] boy return to Cuba. Attorney General
[1:10] Janet Reno has said Ellen can remain
[1:12] with his relatives in Miami while the
[1:14] court decides. Officials in Havana say
[1:17] the Cuban exile community in Miami is
[1:19] delaying the inevitable. It is a problem
[1:22] with a bunch of people that are defying
[1:25] your laws, your authorities, and the
[1:28] views of the majority of Americans. With
[1:31] political involvement in the case likely
[1:33] to escalate dramatically once members of
[1:35] Congress return to Washington on January
