[0:00] This is a satellite telephone leak. And

[0:02] however willing you were to read them

[0:05] the riot act. Uh in that case, they

[0:07] continued to move things out of the

[0:09] facility. We photographed it and

[0:11] reported it to the Security Council for

[0:13] their action.

[0:14] >> And was any action taken?

[0:16] >> Action was taken in that case. I was

[0:18] very lucky. In 1991, we had a United

[0:21] Security Council behind the inspectors.

[0:23] And I cannot tell you what a great

[0:25] difference that made. That made our

[0:27] life, while frustrating in dealing with

[0:29] the Iraqis, ultimately satisfactory.

[0:31] Unfortunately, by 1995, the Council had

[0:34] fragmented and 95 through 98 was

[0:37] probably the most frustrating period any

[0:50] >> We seized 60,000 pages of Iraqi

[0:52] documentation of their nuclear weapons

[0:54] program, including an actual diagram of

[0:57] their first nuclear weapon. So, these

[1:00] were in Iraqi documents in Iraqi words.

[1:03] You don't have to be a scientist to

[1:04] understand. Much of the rest of our data

[1:06] made sense if you had a science

[1:07] background, but not necessarily a

[1:09] policymaker or a diplomat. These were

[1:12] the damning documents of a 20-year

[1:14] program to violate their obligations

[1:17] under the nuclear nonproliferation

[1:18] treaty and to achieve nuclear weapons in

[1:21] large numbers in Iraq. They refused to

[1:24] let us leave with the documents. I said,

[1:25] "We're not leaving this site until we

[1:28] have the documents
