[0:00] Hey everyone. So today I want to show
[0:02] you how to build a Claude skill to write
[0:05] better and avoid AI slop writing
[0:09] permanently. You know, skills have the
[0:11] potential to be the biggest AI
[0:13] productivity unlock since project. Think
[0:16] of a skill as a specific expertise or
[0:19] template that AI can trigger from any
[0:21] conversation.
[0:23] There's a lot of hype out there about
[0:24] skills,
[0:25] but I'm going to give you the real no
[0:27] take. The reality is the
[0:30] product is still early
[0:31] and AI isn't really good at triggering
[0:34] skills yet.
[0:35] But I have a hack to actually get AI to
[0:38] do it reliably and for you to use skills
[0:41] to save time.
[0:43] All right, let's dive in.
[0:45] So what exactly is a skill? It's just a
[0:48] folder with a bunch of files that have
[0:50] instructions that AI can trigger
[0:53] based on a given conversation. For
[0:56] example,
[0:57] here we have a skill that applies
[1:00] Anthropic's brand guidelines to any
[1:03] slide deck or artifact.
[1:05] Okay, so let's take a look at the skill,
[1:07] right? So here's a breakdown of each
[1:08] file.
[1:09] There is a skill.md file, which is the
[1:11] most important file and is required,
[1:13] that tells AI what the skill does. For
[1:15] example, main colors should be a certain
[1:18] color.
[1:19] And be sure to write a clear description
[1:22] that AI will use to decide when to
[1:24] trigger the skill.
[1:26] And then you could have other files like
[1:28] a reference file, for example, a slide
[1:30] deck.md, which is additional
[1:32] instructions for AI to apply Anthropic's
[1:36] template to slide decks.
[1:38] And you might also have script files
[1:41] such as apply_template.py,
[1:43] which is basically just code that AI can
[1:45] execute to
