[0:28] the mind of God the state of man the way

[0:32] of salvation the doom of sinners and the

[0:36] happiness of believers its doctrines are

[0:39] holy its precepts are binding it's

[0:42] stories are true and its decisions are

[0:45] immutable read it to be wise believe it

[0:49] to be safe and practice it to be holy

[1:02] is the travelers map the pilgrim staff

[1:05] the pilots compass the soldiers sword

[1:08] and the Christians charter here

[1:15] the gates of Hell disclosed Christ is

[1:20] its grand subject our good the design

[1:24] and the glory of God

[1:26] it's in

[1:27] it should fill the memory rule the heart

[1:31] and guide the feet read it slowly

[1:35] frequently and prayerfully

[1:40] it is a mine of wealth health to the

[1:43] soul and a river of pleasure it involves

[1:47] the highest responsibilities will reward

[1:50] the greatest labor and will condemn all

[1:53] who trifle with its sacred contents pray

[1:57] it in read it through he live it out and

[2:02] pass it on

[2:10] and how important it is to have the Word

[2:13] of God in our lives on a daily basis and

[2:17] so today wanted to remind you that it's

[2:19] Monday and we're starting off our week

[2:22] so hopefully and prayerfully you started

[2:24] your week yesterday on Sunday but

[2:27] spending time in the house of the Lord

[2:28] well if you're attending Bible Baptist

[2:31] Church in the parking lot of Bible

[2:33] Baptist Church as we had our drive-in

[2:35] Service and then had our livestream

[2:37] service last night from Sunday night had

[2:39] a great service last night I encourage

[2:41] you to go back and watch that video

[2:43] again and see what God had in store for

[2:46] us that evening but again in our Bible

[2:48] reading this morning we're gonna be in

[2:50] Luke chapter number 10 verses 38 through

[2:53] 42 and I've got a job to get through

[2:56] this little passage in a short time

[2:58] because I love this passage and I preach

[3:01] about every two to three years from this

[3:03] particular text the Bible says that I

[3:06] came to pass as they went he entered

[3:08] into a certain village he being Jesus

[3:10] and a certain woman whose name was

[3:12] Martha received him into her house and

[3:14] she called her sister Mary which also

[3:17] sat at Jesus feet and heard his word but

[3:20] Martha was encumbered about much serving

[3:22] and came to him and said Lord dost thou

[3:24] not care that my sister had left me to

[3:27] serve alone better therefore that she

[3:29] helped me jesus answered and said unto

[3:32] her Martha Martha that are careful and

[3:34] troubled about many things but one thing

[3:37] is needful and Mary had chosen that good

[3:39] part which shall not be taken away from

[3:41] her now when the gospel accounts as you

[3:44] read this you discover what Mary's doing

[3:46] is she's stopping and sitting at Jesus

[3:48] feet Jesus says that in the house he's

[3:51] teaching and Mary has sat down at the

[3:54] feet of Jesus to listen to the words of

[3:56] Jesus and to take some time out of her

[3:59] day to just stop and listen to Jesus

[4:02] Christ

[4:03] now Martha's busy she's serving she's

[4:06] encumbered about his head

[4:07] much serving so Martha's a busy person

[4:10] and there's nothing wrong with being

[4:12] busy at Martha's entertaining she's got

[4:15] people at the house he's taking care of

[4:17] everyone there's nothing wrong with

[4:19] doing those things in fact they're

[4:20] important to do she's a great hostess

[4:23] for all of these people that are here

[4:25] and Jesus stayed at their house off him

[4:27] because of the things that she was able

[4:29] to do for them but we find here in our

[4:32] text that Jesus said that Mary have

[4:35] chosen this one thing that is needful my

[4:40] mind goes back to Genesis when God

[4:42] created the heavens and the earth and

[4:45] when God created and yes he did create

[4:48] them he said that he created the things

[4:50] on the first date it says in the evening

[4:53] in the morning were the first day and

[4:55] God said that all the things he created

[4:56] were good and he went through each day

[4:59] on creation and all the things the Bible

[5:01] says that he created were good things

[5:04] and then he says in Scripture that he

[5:07] that findeth oh I find it's a good thing

[5:09] and right now in the comments gentlemen

[5:12] that be a great time to say yes I found

[5:14] a good thing when I found my wife so you

[5:17] better put that in there because she's

[5:19] gonna see it and so but the Bible says

[5:21] he that findeth a wife I'd it's a good

[5:23] thing and so I'm very thankful for my

[5:25] wife and the good things the Lord gave

[5:27] me I'm Mary well above what I deserve so

[5:31] thankful for that but the Bible tells us

[5:34] Jesus says this one thing is needful and

[5:36] as I've searched through Scripture I

[5:38] find that this one thing it's in red

[5:41] letters in your red letter Edition Bible

[5:43] that says Jesus said this one thing is

[5:46] needful not that it's good it is good

[5:48] but it's not just good it's not just of

[5:52] something of value

[5:54] he says it's needful my friend if we're

[5:57] gonna do what God wants us to do in our

[5:59] Christian life we must remember one

[6:02] thing is needful and that's to stop yeah

[6:07] I know you're busy but you got to start

[6:09] and you got to sit at Jesus feet you say

[6:13] well Jesus is not in the room no but the

[6:16] Word of God is and that's his word too

[6:19] and so to understand what the text is

[6:23] saying Jesus said the one thing that was

[6:25] needful for Mary is to stop and sit at

[6:28] Jesus feet and worship Him and you and I

[6:31] each and every day need to stop and sit

[6:34] and open up the Word of God listen to

[6:39] the Holy Spirit as God directs his word

[6:43] yes that was my computer dinging letting

[6:46] me know I've got 13 minutes of battery

[6:48] life left but thankfully we're almost

[6:50] done

[6:51] you know sometimes though that should be

[6:53] a reminder to you and I wouldn't it be

[6:55] nice if our spiritual tank would give us

[6:59] a ding and let us know that our

[7:01] spiritual tank is almost empty and the

[7:03] way you would need to refill it with the

[7:05] Word of God

[7:06] it's amazing how God works and acts in

[7:09] our life but let me tell you this

[7:10] morning Mary said she chose us one thing

[7:14] that it was needful that's what Jesus

[7:16] said and how important it is for you and

[7:18] I to stop and sit at Jesus feet so the

[7:20] word of encouragement is this every day

[7:22] this week stop and sit at Jesus feet

[7:25] stop and take time to read the Bible

[7:28] today and see how the Word of God can

[7:31] impact your life today it said this one

[7:35] thing is needful you can't get through

[7:36] the week you can't get through the day

[7:39] without spending time in God's Word so

[7:42] let me challenge it today to keep

[7:44] reading the Word of God fill up your

[7:47] spiritual tank because it's needful in

[7:50] your daily life to walk with God

[7:53] good seeing you this morning so thankful

[7:56] for the time you had with us today let's

[7:58] have a word of Prayer dear Heavenly

[8:00] Father Lord we're so thankful for the

[8:02] opportunity to gather today and to spend

[8:05] some time in your word Lord thank you

[8:06] for teaching us this valuable truth that

[8:10] one thing is needful match to stop and

[8:12] sit at your feet every single day lord I

[8:17] pray that you bless everyone that

[8:19] watches this video today give them a

[8:21] great day help them to be encouraged in

[8:23] the things of God in your name I pray

[8:26] amen

[8:27] wonderful to see you this morning have a

[8:29] great day may the lord bless you

[8:31] and we'll see you next time
