[0:45] This is the CBS Evening News with Dan
[0:48] Rather reporting from CBS News

[0:53] Good evening. Again today, Americans
[0:55] became targets for terrorists who struck
[0:57] with deadly effect. But this time, the
[0:59] Americans they chose were capable of
[1:01] fighting back. They were US Marines. The
[1:04] attack came on an island in the Persian
[1:06] Gulf, where US military forces are
[1:08] engaged in Operation Eager Mace,

[1:35] AK-47s hitting two of the Americans.
[1:38] Both Marines were wounded and medevac'd
[1:40] to the Armed Forces Hospital in Kuwait
[1:41] City.
[1:43] One Marine later died of his wounds. The
[1:45] other remains hospitalized.
[1:47] The two men jumped back in their pickup
[1:48] truck and drove to another Marine
[1:50] position, but this time the Marines, no
[1:52] doubt alerted by the sound of gunfire,
[1:55] were ready
