[0:05] Deadlock over the budget again. A
[0:07] quarter of a million government workers
[0:09] are sent home again.
[0:12] The fog lifts in Bosnia. The first US
[0:15] combat troops arrive.
[0:20] >> And teaching Santa Claus how to behave.
[0:23] The British call in an American.
[0:27] From ABC, this is World News Tonight
[0:30] with Peter Jennings.
[0:31] >> Good evening. We begin tonight with the
[0:33] first business day of the second
[0:34] government crisis in a month. Once

[1:15] Clinton found unacceptable.
[1:17] >> They have sent me legislation that would
[1:19] give our children less clean drinking
[1:21] water, less safe food, dirtier air. If I
[1:25] signed these bills, I would be
[1:27] condemning more than 10 million children
[1:29] under the age of 12 to living near toxic
[1:32] waste sites that might not be cleaned up
[1:35] for years. The president demanded that
[1:37] Congress act now to reopen the
[1:39] government temporarily
