[0:05] This is CNN.

[0:13] Hurricane Andrew continues its deadly

[0:15] course. Residents along the Gulf Coast

[0:17] are racing to get out of its way.

[0:20] Andrew's punch all but knocked out

[0:21] Homestead Air Force Base. Fidians

[0:23] surveying the wreckage of their homes

[0:25] and their lives.

[0:31] This is CNN's Prime News with Bernard

[0:34] Shaw in Washington and Cheryl Atkinson

[0:37] sitting in for Susan Rook at the CNN

[0:40] Center in Atlanta.

[0:47] Thanks for joining us. Hurricane Andrew

[0:48] is on its way to Louisiana's southern

[0:50] coast where high winds are the precursor

[0:52] of things to come. After wiping out much

[0:55] of southern Florida yesterday, Andrew

[0:57] continues its northwesterly path.

[1:00] Millions living along the Gulf Coast,

[1:02] including those in Morgan City,

[1:04] Lafayette, Lake Charles, Bowmont, and

[1:06] New Orleans, have been evacuated. For a

[1:08] weather update, we go to Karen McInness

[1:10] in Atlanta.

[1:12] >> Now, Bernie, already with this latest

[1:14] radar image, we've seen these images

[1:16] over the last eight hours. the eye is

[1:18] moving ever so close to the coastline.

[1:20] And as it does move closer, it may in

[1:22] fact become a little bit more jagged, a

[1:24] little bit more unpredictable. That is

[1:27] what will be dangerous with this storm

[1:28] system. But also these feeder bands,

[1:30] that is the moisture that's being drawn

[1:33] into the uh center of this storm. Some

[1:35] of them are filtering out across

[1:37] southeastern Louisiana. So just to the

[1:39] south of New Orleans, they're picking up

[1:41] some fairly gusty winds and some heavy

[1:43] rain. Now, with these feeder bands, they

[1:45] may contain some embedded thunderstorms.
