[0:00] of the movie she was supposed to make

[0:01] with Brad.

[0:02] >> How difficult was it to replace him?

[0:04] >> Now Gwennneth's dad, the director, talks

[0:07] about replacing Pit and his daughter's

[0:09] touching Golden Globe speech.

[0:13] >> Star Maps in the Entertainment Tonight

[0:15] cover story.

[0:16] >> We always thought that the map shouldn't

[0:18] be allowed to be sold.

[0:20] >> Sharers House is on the list. So is Tom

[0:22] Cruz's mansion. But is this Hollywood

[0:24] tradition putting the stars at risk?

[0:27] I've had several run-ins with people at

[0:29] my house.

[0:32] >> Why is Jerry Springer in his underwear

[0:34] in front of Barbara Walters? As we get

[0:36] the official scoop on when you can buy

[0:38] Monica's new book and Zena's practical

[0:42] joke. We're on her New Zealand set as

[0:44] she plays a prank on her co-star.

[0:51] >> This is Entertainment Tonight, the most

[0:53] watched entertainment news program in

[0:55] the world. Here is the top news from

[0:57] Hollywood for this Thursday, February

[0:59] 18th, 1999. Hello everybody, I'm Mary

[1:02] Hart

[1:02] >> and I'm Bob Goen. And Gwennneth Paltro

[1:04] has found someone to take Brad Pitt's

[1:06] place in her latest film. That is see

[1:09] Brad was originally cast with her, but

[1:11] now Jan Carl goes behind the scenes on

[1:13] the movie with Gwennneth with her new

[1:15] co-star and with her father for another

[1:17] ET first.

[1:19] Gwennneth Paltro's new leading man in

[1:22] the upcoming film duet is none other

[1:24] than Felicity Scott Speedman. And

[1:26] despite having to fill Brad Pitt's

[1:28] sizable shoes, he's being welcomed with

[1:30] open arms by Gwennneth.

[1:32] >> Brad was originally set to play Billy.

[1:34] >> How difficult was it to replace him? I

[1:37] think it was about um

[1:40] just you know finding the right somebody

[1:43] who was a a kind of right soulful

[1:46] quality which Scott has in space. He was

[1:49] the last one cast but it wasn't we we've

[1:51] ended up finding the right person so

[1:53] that was good.

[1:54] >> You've gone from what you called D and E

[1:57] type movies in Canada to replacing Brad

[1:59] Pitt. How you feeling about that?

[2:01] >> Uh it's good. It's an honor to replace

[2:04] him. I really like him. I think he's a

[2:06] really good actor and when I read art I

[2:08] could really see him doing it. So it was

[2:09] really really nice to get that.

[2:11] >> Gwennneth's dad Bruce Paltro is

[2:13] directing the movie and says getting it

[2:14] made took some real doing.

[2:16] >> Had the money, lost the money. Had the

[2:17] money. Lost the money. Brad was doing

[2:19] it. Brad wasn't doing it. I think every

[2:21] studio in town turned it down twice.

[2:23] >> One man who didn't turn down a role in

[2:25] the film is singer Huie Lewis.

[2:27] >> He has to get Huey Le for his mom.

[2:29] >> You do?

[2:30] >> Yeah.

[2:30] >> Wait, did you tell Gwyn? His mom used to

[2:32] teach aerobics. used to like use all

[2:34] those songs

[2:36] >> of blood.

[2:37] >> But for proud papa Bruce, nothing

[2:39] compares to watching his Oscar nominee

[2:41] daughter hard at work except for maybe

[2:44] her emotional Golden Globe acceptance

[2:46] speech.

[2:47] >> Now, what did you think with her speech?

[2:51] >> That's very hard for me to talk about.

[2:53] >> Most of all, I would like to thank my

[2:55] family who I'm so fortunate to to love

[2:59] and and be loved by. What happened when

[3:01] you and wife were sitting there

[3:03] listening to your daughter?

[3:05] >> I cried.

[3:07] I'm sure I'm sort of blind.

[3:10] >> Just saw her.

[3:11] >> Emotions ran even higher when Gwyneith

[3:13] acknowledged her grandpa Buster who's

[3:15] battling stomach cancer.

[3:17] >> Hang in there, Grandpa.

[3:18] >> My daughter and my father are very, very

[3:21] close. I mean, incredibly close. I could

[3:23] start to cry thinking the moment, you

[3:25] know. Uh it's it's just so overwhelming.

[3:32] What a loving family. Thank you, Jan.

[3:34] Winn duets is due out this fall, but

[3:36] first she has exactly 30 days till

[3:38] she'll dazzle as an Academy Award

[3:40] nominee. And now we have the latest

[3:42] Oscar news. On the pre-show set, one

[3:44] stars makeup and one movie that just

[3:46] broke a big screen record.

[3:51] >> When former winner Gina Davis hosts this

[3:54] year's Oscar pre-show, she'll have a

[3:56] special set made to fit. And we have an

[3:58] exclusive look from producer Gil Kate.

[4:00] >> How to incorporate in this set uh two

[4:02] television monitors so that Gina and the

[4:04] audience would be able to see not only

[4:06] what was happening on the red carpet,

[4:08] but also to see what was happening in

[4:09] the theater itself.

[4:11] >> With seven Oscar nominations, including

[4:13] best picture and best foreign film,

[4:15] Hollywood's hottest import is Roberto

[4:17] Benini's Life is Beautiful. In fact, the

[4:20] Italian movie is the highest grossing

[4:21] foreign language film ever in North

[4:23] America, earning nearly $22 million. I

[4:26] love this movie. Life is beautiful.

[4:28] >> I want her to look like an angel.

[4:30] >> Heavensense Style describes the look

[4:32] Kate Blanchett will be wearing for

[4:33] Oscar. Janine Lobel will provide the

[4:35] makeup for the best actress nominee and

[4:37] says the key to the perfect night is

[4:39] being prepared. It's

[4:40] >> like give me your purse and I like load

[4:42] up the things I know they need to take

[4:43] with them so that cuz you're not going

[4:45] to be there.

[4:47] >> And from makeup to fashion, a tip from

[4:49] the runways of New York predicts

[4:51] simplicity and style will grace Oscars'

[4:53] red carpet. something elegant and sexy

[4:56] but minimal. I think that's what you're

[4:58] going to see on the red carpet at the

[4:59] Oscars.

[5:01] >> That preosscar TV show Gina Davis is

[5:03] hosting starts on ABC 1 half hour before

[5:06] the awards on March 21st. And there is

[5:08] also excitement in store for the

[5:09] upcoming Screen Actors Guild Awards.

[5:12] Jack Nicholson and friends Matthew Perry

[5:14] and Matt LeBlanc have been named

[5:15] presenters. You'll be able to see it all

[5:17] two weeks from Sunday on cables TNT.

[5:20] Leading the Entertainment Tonight news

[5:22] brief.

[5:24] Break out the popcorn and soda for Will

[5:26] Smith. He has been named the Show West

[5:29] actor of the year by the National

[5:30] Association of Theater Owners. Smith is

[5:32] being honored for his Big Willie box

[5:34] office style. Enemy of the State is his

[5:37] third film to gross over $100 million.

[5:40] And Will's role in the updated Wild Wild

[5:43] West is one of the theater owner most

[5:45] anticipated films for summer of 99.

[5:49] He's hit 70 home runs and he's a

[5:51] Frappuccino fan. Now Mark Maguire and

[5:54] Starbucks are teaming up to support

[5:56] literacy and children with Out of the

[5:58] Park into the books. The coffee company

[6:00] will donate $5,000 for each home run

[6:03] that Magguire hits during the 99 season.

[6:06] Mark also took a coffee break to plug

[6:08] the Mad About You guest shot that ET

[6:10] first told you about Monday night. Watch

[6:12] it.

[6:15] Looking like a mermaid tossed onto the

[6:16] shore, Daryl Hannah surfs into the pages

[6:19] of Gear. Although she's been a star for

[6:21] over 15 years, Daryl says she's more

[6:23] interested in rescuing lame horses and

[6:25] stray dogs. And despite romances with

[6:27] Jackson Brown and John Kennedy Jr.,

[6:30] Daryl claims that she's never been on a

[6:32] true date. That Gear magazine with Daryl

[6:35] uncovered on the cover is on news stands

[6:38] two weeks from Tuesday. Covergirl Cindy

[6:40] Crawford may be a few months away from

[6:42] becoming a superm mom, but right now she

[6:44] can still be a supermodel. Cindy proved

[6:46] it last night in New York to rave

[6:48] reviews from her runway friends.

[6:52] >> I don't think I'll be like wearing a

[6:53] bikini with like a big pregnant stomach

[6:55] because that's just not who I am.

[6:57] >> But the model mom to be had no problem

[6:59] kicking up her heels in a strapless

[7:01] beaded top and black satin pants as

[7:03] Ellen Tracy debuted its 1999 fall

[7:06] collection. I called them a month before

[7:08] the show and I said, "Look, if you want

[7:10] to cancel me, I understand. Um, but if

[7:12] you don't want to cancel me, you might

[7:14] have to think about what outfits will

[7:16] will work on me." The way my sister

[7:18] looked at 5 and a half months pregnant

[7:20] and the way Cindy Graham looks, not the

[7:22] same.

[7:23] >> Though Cindy admits models do check each

[7:25] other out, she says there's no point in

[7:27] trying to hold in her bulging tummy.

[7:29] >> Normally, all the other models are so

[7:31] skinny that I feel like a truck driver.

[7:34] And like the good thing about this time

[7:36] is at least I had an excuse.

[7:39] >> Cindy Crawford feels like a truck

[7:40] driver. Never. Cindy is due in midJune

[7:43] and she has decided she doesn't want to

[7:45] know if the baby will be a boy or a

[7:46] girl. Cindy says she'd rather it be a

[7:48] surprise.

[7:50] >> What the heck is Barbara Walters doing

[7:51] with Jerry Springer? Well, coming up on

[7:53] ET, why Jerry is in his underwear and

[7:56] then in a wig with the four women from

[7:58] the View. The fifth with Jerry Springer

[8:02] >> on the set of Zena with her husband

[8:04] watching it all. Plus Madonna Whitney

[8:07] their huge mansions and how you can rent

[8:09] one stars home.

[8:12] Dharma talks about Scientology and her

[8:14] days smoking pot.

[8:16] >> One day someone said you're a stoner.

[8:17] And I was like that's bad. Next on ET.

[8:26] >> Morning seems so much brighter after a

[8:28] good night's sleep. That's why I love my

[8:31] Tylenol PM. Sometimes I have trouble

[8:34] sleeping. I used to worry about taking

[8:37] something. How would I feel in the

[8:39] morning? And then I tried Tylenol PM. It

[8:43] stops my pain and helps me sleep. So, in

[8:46] the morning, I'm rested, refreshed,

[8:49] ready to make the most of my day.

[8:52] >> Rest easy. It's Tylenol P.M.

[8:56] >> Life is about turning the things you

[8:58] want to do

[9:01] into the things you've done.

[9:05] It's about saying, "I will

[9:08] instead of I wish."

[11:23] So, join Coin TV for the Portland Home

[11:25] and Garden Show. It's a good thing.

[11:28] >> Disney fun has arrived. I am from the

[11:31] planet Mars

[11:31] >> and the lab

[11:32] >> burden

[11:34] >> are out of this world.

[11:35] >> Hey, space man. Sorry about that.

[11:38] >> Disney's My Favorite Martian rated PG.

[11:41] Now play.

[11:43] >> Babies everywhere are talking.

[11:45] >> And they say Emporium's baby sale is the

[11:48] place to be.

[11:48] >> That's it.

[11:49] >> With savings of 30% off Oshkosh Playwear

[11:51] for infants and toddlers.

[11:52] >> Get it. Get it. Get it.

[11:54] >> 30% off the entire stock of health text

[11:56] playwear. 25% off Carter's just one

[11:59] year. 40% off Carter's baby wear and 25%

[12:02] off little Levi's children wear. It's

[12:05] not just baby talk. It's the baby sale

[12:08] at Emporium now through February 28th.

[12:11] >> That's it.

[12:16] >> It is quite a view of Jerry Springer on

[12:18] Barbara Walter show the view in his

[12:20] skiibbies and in touch with his feminine

[12:22] side inside Hollywood.

[12:25] >> Oh there. Oh hello.

[12:28] The Bees Fab Four do a little

[12:29] manhandling on Monday as Jerry Springer

[12:32] helps them test out a new treatment for

[12:34] cellulite.

[12:34] >> Normally, I don't publicly walk around

[12:36] in my underwear for good reason, with

[12:38] legs like that.

[12:39] >> But he really shows what a good sport he

[12:41] is when Jerry takes a ribbing about

[12:43] Oprah Winfreyy's recent condemnation of

[12:45] his show as a vulgarity circus.

[12:48] >> Apparently Oprah sent this over.

[12:50] >> She's mad at you, baby. You know,

[12:53] >> Jerry even dons a wig just to fit in.

[12:56] When I said, "I've always wanted to do a

[12:58] show with four different women. I never

[13:01] imagined that the fifth would be Jerry

[13:04] Springer."

[13:04] >> Look for the talk to turn serious when

[13:06] Barbara Walters interviews Monica

[13:07] Lewinsky. While the date is still not

[13:10] set, it might happen by March 4th.

[13:12] Publishers have confirmed with ET that's

[13:14] the day Monica's tell- all book will hit

[13:16] stores.

[13:19] Madonna's Miami mansion shares 10,000

[13:22] square foot LA home and Whitney's

[13:24] personalized pool make the grade in the

[13:26] premier issue of McCall's Starstyle

[13:28] magazine. While the mag offers up

[13:30] glimpses of celebrity abodess, Jane

[13:32] Seymour's 15th century English country

[13:34] manor is the only one you can rent for a

[13:36] getaway of your very own. I think that

[13:39] um it goes for the mere price tag of

[13:41] about $20,000 a week and you can dine on

[13:45] her own china.

[13:47] That premier issue of McCall's Star

[13:49] Style magazine hit stands on Tuesday.

[13:52] >> One star with her own sword swinging

[13:54] style is Lucy Lawless as Zena Warrior

[13:57] Princess. And she invited us exclusively

[13:59] to her New Zealand set where things are

[14:01] really buzzing, literally.

[14:03] >> You two take our gold and get away from

[14:05] here.

[14:06] >> All right.

[14:07] >> Lucy Lawless is hard at work on her

[14:09] fourth season of Zena. And she is

[14:11] battling more than bad guys. There's

[14:13] also the incessant buzzing of bugs in

[14:15] the New Zealand summer.

[14:19] But a warrior princess never complained.

[14:22] >> This is a country where you don't get

[14:24] away with being a whiner.

[14:26] >> On this day, the nearly 6-foot beauty

[14:28] had husband and executive producer

[14:30] Robert Tappard on the set for comfort.

[14:32] At home, Lucy leaves Zena far behind.

[14:34] >> Oh, Zena doesn't exist except when the

[14:36] camera's rolling. Nobody would ever want

[14:38] to marry me a boat.

[14:40] Offscreen, the couple is settling into

[14:42] domesticity.

[14:43] >> We bought a new house and we're

[14:45] renovating and doing all that sort of

[14:47] stuff. So, life is full of all sorts of

[14:50] other things.

[14:51] >> Those other things include practical

[14:53] jokes. And this day, co-star Renee O'

[14:55] Connor was Lucy's target. She scribbled

[14:57] phony notes of advice into Rene's

[14:59] script.

[15:00] >> Wait until she finds, you know, things

[15:02] like pain expression. Here, try to look

[15:04] really, really sad. But it didn't take

[15:07] long for Renee to catch THE CULPRIT.

[15:11] >> She coming to get me.

[15:13] >> Now, I don't know if I can do the pain

[15:14] diets on this line.

[15:19] >> And that one's not stopped cuz

[15:23] >> a leave out the good stuff. Lucy's

[15:25] hoping for one musical guest star for an

[15:27] upcoming episode. Singer KD Lang is a

[15:30] fan of the show and she voiced interest

[15:31] in visiting Zena's world. Jenna Elfman

[15:34] may be a big star now, but there was a

[15:36] time when she was struggling. Now coming

[15:38] up on ET, Dharma sits down to talk about

[15:41] the day she was living in poverty and

[15:43] the religion Scientology that she says

[15:45] saved her life.

[15:47] The controversial maps to the stars

[15:49] homes in the Entertainment Tonight cover

[15:51] story. The famous talk about the fear of

[15:53] having their home addresses there for

[15:55] anyone to buy. Next on ET.

[16:19] Where do some of America's most

[16:21] successful people get their start?

[16:26] Did somebody say McDonald's?

[16:32] >> They're both packing heat. The robber

[16:34] pulls his gun and fires. Then the store

[16:36] clerk pulls his gun and shoots. You'll

[16:39] see it on real TV first. Then take a

[16:41] look at the new sport in Europe where

[16:42] just about every hit is legal, no matter

[16:45] how low the blow. Plus, Xile Smoky Man

[16:50] hide. Especially when cops have 19

[16:52] cameras staring down your neck and jug

[17:13] car toys. A better way to go.

[17:18] >> For the first time in over 100 years,

[17:20] the Spring Air Mattress Factory is

[17:21] moving.

[17:22] >> We had over a million dollars worth of

[17:23] inventory that we had to get rid of.

[17:25] >> If you're looking for a terrific deal,

[17:26] don't miss this fantastic factory moving

[17:29] sale. It's a once in a-lifetime

[17:30] opportunity for saving

[17:34] >> tomorrow morning on the Buzz.

[17:38] going to take my jacket off, roll up my

[17:40] shirt sleeves, and uh we're going to

[17:41] take your phone calls and emails. See

[17:43] what's on your mind at the end of this

[17:45] very, very busy week on the Buzz.

[18:03] PGA instruction. Look for the driving

[18:05] range to test all the newest clubs,

[18:07] putting and chipping games for kids and

[18:08] adults, and the celebrity putting prom

[18:13] February 19th through the 21st at the

[18:14] Portland Expo Center. Don't miss the 6th

[18:16] annual Subaru Portland Golf Show.

[18:45] So, join Coin TV for the Portland Home

[18:47] and Garden Show. It's a good thing.

[18:52] Perhaps it's the price of fame. But for

[18:55] stars like Tom Cruz, Sher, and Halib

[18:58] Berry, maps of the stars homes are at

[19:00] best a nuisance and at worst a serious

[19:02] threat to their personal safety. Now the

[19:05] celebrities sound off about Star Maps as

[19:07] Mark Steinus brings us the Entertainment

[19:09] Tonight cover story.

[19:12] >> It's scary. I mean, that's why you have

[19:14] security. I mean, I've had I've had to

[19:15] have security my whole life.

[19:18] I don't think that they should be able

[19:20] to do that, but I don't think there's

[19:21] any way you could stop doing that.

[19:22] They've been doing it for so long.

[19:25] >> At best, these maps are an innocent way

[19:27] for a tourist to go home with a

[19:29] memorable story. But at worst, they

[19:31] invite an obsessed fan right to a star's

[19:34] front door.

[19:34] >> I happen to be on one of those Star

[19:36] maps, and I've had several run-ins with

[19:38] people at my house.

[19:40] >> You can buy them on any street corner in

[19:42] Beverly Hills, and some vendors have

[19:44] spent decades selling maps to Stars

[19:46] homes. Between my mom and I, this coming

[19:48] May, it will be 50 years.

[19:50] >> She wanted to see Brad Pit's house.

[19:53] >> But in the wake of the Brad Pitt

[19:55] stalker, celebrities are increasingly

[19:57] concerned about security and insist the

[19:59] maps can lead to so much more.

[20:01] >> I've always been afraid of them. I've

[20:03] always thought they were dangerous. I

[20:05] don't think anybody should have the

[20:07] right to put this this out.

[20:12] >> The path to the Tom Cruz mansion is

[20:14] clearly marked. It's even easy to find

[20:16] former stalking victim Steven Spielberg.

[20:19] >> A map that I can buy for $7 shows me

[20:21] exactly where you live. I

[20:23] >> mean, first of all, your house is the

[20:24] only place you have that you have any

[20:25] feeling of peace whatsoever or security

[20:28] or sanctuary or anything like that. So,

[20:30] we always thought that the map shouldn't

[20:32] be allowed to be sold because

[20:35] it just it's it's not safe.

[20:37] >> It may not be safe, but it is legal.

[20:40] Star Map publisher Paul McDonald says

[20:42] his information comes from the public

[20:44] record and it's up to the fans to use it

[20:46] responsibly.

[20:47] >> You'd like to think that the people that

[20:49] actually purchase and and and use a star

[20:51] map would respect the privacy of the

[20:53] celebrities homes,

[20:54] >> but in a society obsessed with fame,

[20:57] security consultant John Lane says fans

[20:59] won't always show that respect. A lot of

[21:02] people uh really start believing that

[21:06] they know these these celebrities and

[21:08] that the next step then is just a

[21:10] natural course of events to try to

[21:12] contact them.

[21:13] >> So, it's up to celebrities to be aware

[21:15] of the risk and most live behind a

[21:18] shield of gates and security cameras.

[21:20] You tourist or what?

[21:21] >> Arnold Schwarzenegger's bodyguards

[21:23] chased off public access TV host John

[21:25] Cunningham as he taped his show

[21:27] Driveways of the Rich and Famous.

[21:29] >> It's on a star map to come here and look

[21:30] at that. Yeah. Yeah. To the star map to

[21:33] come. I don't invite you here to take a

[21:35] picture.

[21:35] >> I thought it'd be okay to do the map.

[21:37] >> No.

[21:37] >> And while Cunningham was clearly not a

[21:39] threat, who knows what could happen the

[21:41] next time a fan comes knocking.

[21:43] >> There is no easy answer. If somebody

[21:45] wants to do you harm or seek you out,

[21:47] the reality is they can do that.

[21:50] >> Thank you, Mark. As you heard, star maps

[21:52] are nothing new. And in simpler, safer

[21:54] days before electric gates and security

[21:56] cameras, it wasn't unusual for big stars

[21:59] like Jimmy Stewart or Lucille Ball to

[22:01] greet tourists who'd followed maps to

[22:03] their Beverly Hills homes. Now on our

[22:05] show tomorrow, new developments in the

[22:08] death of the child beauty queen.

[22:12] More bombshells from the John Benet book

[22:14] in the Entertainment Tonight cover

[22:16] story.

[22:17] >> It's likely that Paty Ramsay will be

[22:19] indicted.

[22:21] It's everything the author didn't tell

[22:22] Dineine, including what the housekeeper

[22:25] knows.

[22:27] We get to the bottom of the rumors about

[22:28] Michael Jordan and Vanessa Williams.

[22:32] Dela Ree and the confrontation with her

[22:34] father.

[22:35] >> Either she goes or I go.

[22:38] >> What happened after her mother's death

[22:39] that drove Dela out of her own home?

[22:41] That's tomorrow.

[22:44] Today, Darmman Greg's Jenna Elfman is a

[22:46] big star, but there was a time not so

[22:48] long ago when she was barely getting by.

[22:50] Now, Jenna looks back at those leaner

[22:52] days and how Scientology changed her

[22:54] life as she sits down onetoone with

[22:57] Julie Moran.

[23:01] I just like this chick, you know, and

[23:03] like the fact that people would look to

[23:04] me to see how to do things, you know,

[23:06] I'm like really, I don't know. Jenna

[23:09] Elfman has become Hollywood's ITG girl

[23:11] with her hit series and a starring role

[23:13] in EdTV. The movie focuses on what

[23:16] happens when one man's life and loves

[23:18] become a smash TV show. It struck a

[23:20] chord with Jenna and her husband Bod.

[23:23] How have you and Bod dealt with that

[23:25] having this romance in the public eye?

[23:26] >> I've been with him since I was 19 years

[23:28] old. So, and we I mean poor like living

[23:31] out of the change in the arrowhead

[23:33] bottle. So, I became master at surviving

[23:34] off of nothing. I I totally like that

[23:37] could have been homeless.

[23:38] and um just persisted and worked through

[23:41] it, you know, and just worked my butt

[23:43] off. I mean,

[23:46] >> survival tactics, you know, I mean, like

[23:49] >> licking stamps, filing, stuffing

[23:51] envelopes, no pride, fine, forget pride,

[23:54] just survive, you know, and um paid off.

[23:58] Now that Jenna has arrived, she's

[24:00] getting all the perks in this exclusive

[24:02] scene from Ed TV. She and Matthew

[24:04] McConna share a passionate kiss and the

[24:06] whole world watches. First of all,

[24:08] kissing him can't be bad.

[24:11] >> No, no, no. I didn't think so. So, you

[24:14] >> Am I blushing yet? Okay,

[24:15] >> you're blushing. It was really fun. And

[24:17] then it's just like major making out for

[24:19] like eight hours. You're just like

[24:20] sucking face take after take. And then

[24:21] at the end of the day after just, you

[24:22] know, tons of kissing, we'd be like,

[24:23] "Hey, bye. Bye. Okay, bye." You know,

[24:27] show up the next day. Hello. We'll kiss

[24:29] on the cheek then be like

[24:33] Now, Jenna, do you think your belief in

[24:35] Scientology has really helped you deal

[24:37] with this negative stardom that you've

[24:39] got?

[24:39] >> Yeah. Because here's what happens when

[24:40] you start seeing your face everywhere,

[24:42] right? You're like, "Yeah." And then

[24:44] people start you you almost feel like

[24:46] you become this thing and you have a lot

[24:48] of people saying yes to you.

[24:49] >> Sure do, don't you?

[24:50] >> You know what I'm saying? And you have

[24:51] to be able to differentiate.

[24:53] >> But wasn't there a time when you weren't

[24:54] this bubbly, Jenna? You were hanging out

[24:56] smoking pot.

[24:57] >> Oh, yeah.

[24:58] >> Did Scientology help you beat your

[25:00] habit?

[25:00] >> Um, no. Bod did because I just met him

[25:03] like a month known him for a month and I

[25:05] went and I had stopped smoking pot on my

[25:07] own because

[25:08] >> I was one day someone said you're a

[25:10] stoner and I was like that's bad and I

[25:12] went wow and I just kind of stopped it

[25:14] and Bod said I bet you he did like this

[25:16] reverse thing on me. He goes I bet you

[25:18] you can't not smoke it.

[25:20] >> Wow.

[25:20] >> And I said oh yeah watch me. He bet me

[25:22] 100 bucks and I haven't smoked it since.

[25:24] >> Spending time with Jenna you can't help

[25:26] but share her effervescent energy and

[25:28] zest for life.

[25:29] >> Thank you.

[25:35] What a life force. Unbelievable. Jenna

[25:37] also told me that when her husband Bod

[25:39] proposed to her, they documented the

[25:41] whole thing on videotape just like Ed

[25:43] TV. The film opens nationwide on March

[25:45] 26th by the Marriott. Darling,

[31:58] tape of the dimwitted shoplifter who

[32:00] drops the evidence right in front of the

[32:02] video cameras. It's the sport where it's

[32:05] okay to hit them when they're down.

[32:08] And take a look at the ultimate barroom

[32:11] stunt. Whatever you do, don't blink.

[32:14] >> I love exposing people who don't get

[32:16] with the program.

[32:17] >> Real TV is on the air.

[32:26] Hi, I'm John Dailyaly and this is the

[32:28] show where the drama is real and it

[32:30] happens right before your eyes. We begin

[32:32] with a gunfight between a robber and a

[32:33] store clerk. Bullets fly everywhere.

[32:36] Here's how it starts.

[32:38] A surveillance camera is rolling at a

[32:40] convenience store in Dothan, Alabama.

[32:42] And this clerk is about to get the scare

[32:44] of his life.

[32:51] It may only be a warning shot, but you

[32:53] can just imagine the clerk's terror as

[32:55] he looks down the barrel of the robber's

[32:57] gun.

[32:59] >> You can see the clerk tremble as he

[33:01] tries to hand over the cash register

[33:02] drawer, but the robber wants the cash in

[33:05] a bag.

[33:07] >> Okay.

[33:13] This tense scene is even more dramatic

[33:14] than it seems because what the robber

[33:17] doesn't know is that the clerk also has

[33:19] a gun. You can barely see the outline of

[33:21] the revolver in his back pocket. And in

[33:24] the next few moments, the clerk is

[33:25] desperately going to try to pull it out

[33:27] and defend himself.

[33:30] >> He tries to reach it here and can't get

[33:32] to it.

[33:37] He tries again, but he's so nervous he

[33:39] still can't get the gun out.

[33:42] >> BUT THEN

[33:51] the gunfire spills out onto the street

[33:53] outside. Amazingly, no one is hit by the

[33:55] flying bullets.

[33:57] >> Was the clerk smart to pull a gun?

[34:00] Police always advise against it, but

[34:02] it's certainly understandable. One

[34:04] thing's for sure, the clerk is a very

[34:06] lucky guy.

[34:14] Talk about a close call. Now, thanks to

[34:16] the tape, the suspect was caught. He's

[34:18] awaiting trial on armed robbery charges.

[34:21] Well, next, a video journalist is in the

[34:23] toughest spot of his life. He's about to

[34:25] become a hostage unless he runs. But as

[34:27] Michael Brownley shows you, running away

[34:29] could cost him his life.

[34:32] Peruvian troops surround the Japanese

[34:35] embassy in Lima, Peru. Inside, Marxist

[34:38] rebels are holding 88 people hostage.

[34:41] >> Hello.

[34:42] >> After a 3-month standoff, the soldiers

[34:44] attacked the building to end the siege.

[34:50] The world saw these dramatic moments as

[34:52] this army of special forces blasted open

[34:55] doors and freed the hostages.

[35:02] But these are the shocking images that

[35:04] have never before been seen on American

[35:06] television. In an exclusive, Real TV

[35:09] uncovers the first few terrifying

[35:11] moments when the Marxist terrorists take

[35:14] over the embassy.

[35:18] These pictures come from Peruvian

[35:19] photojournalist Gunar Rave. Moments

[35:22] before the attack, he was inside the

[35:24] embassy covering a story.

[35:28] >> When he heard an explosion, he ran

[35:30] outside with his camera and found

[35:32] himself caught in the crossfire.

[35:43] along with a translator. He takes us

[35:46] back to the scene and through that

[35:48] horrifying night.

[35:51] >> Suddenly we heard the explosions and

[35:53] immediately we hit the ground and we

[35:56] crawled back on our hands and knees to

[35:58] the corner to this corner here.

[36:01] Crouched behind a car, Gar calls for

[36:04] help on his cell phone, telling his

[36:06] station there's been a bombing.

[36:11] >> I didn't think about my own life.

[36:14] I felt this huge rush of adrenaline. I

[36:17] knew it was a desperate situation. I

[36:18] knew it was really serious.

[36:24] >> I wanted to take the shouts, the the

[36:26] shots, the explosions, all the confusion

[36:28] that was going around. I just wanted to

[36:30] capture the moment.

[36:34] >> In the midst of gunfire, Gar's phone

[36:36] rings.

[36:41] >> Hello.

[36:43] >> It was my boss calling me and he asked

[36:45] me to please bring the tape to the

[36:46] office. He wanted to get this exclusive

[36:49] material on the air as fast as possible.

[36:51] And I told him, "Well, it's going to be

[36:52] impossible to get out." After dodging

[36:55] bullets for nearly an hour, Gunar finds

[36:58] his way out of this war zone unharmed.

[37:02] >> Today, the only thing that remains of

[37:04] the Japanese embassy is this white

[37:06] security wall. Although the building is

[37:08] gone, Gar says his memories will last a

[37:11] lifetime.

[37:14] I feel like a witness in a moment of

[37:16] great terror in this country and and I

[37:18] feel privileged to have been a part of

[37:20] this terrible event that so greatly

[37:23] affected this country.

[37:26] Now that videotape that Gunar shot

[37:28] changed his life in another way. Gunar's

[37:31] estranged dad saw the tape on the news

[37:33] and called him right away. Well, back

[37:35] home we found a tape of a shoplifter so

[37:38] brazen we had to show it to you. So, we

[37:40] recruited the smoking man from the

[37:42] X-Files to be our special correspondent.

[37:44] He shows us how the suspect was caught

[37:46] red-handed. What you got,

[37:48] >> John? Remember this. You're always being

[37:50] watched. It's not paranoia. It's real

[37:54] TV. A lesson one shoplifter learned the

[37:56] hard way.

[37:58] >> Responsible BMJ.

[38:00] >> You were looking at a surveillance video

[38:02] from a camera outside a MVIN store in

[38:04] California.

[38:05] >> Wearing a black and tan shirt and blue

[38:07] jeans. A dispatcher monitoring the

[38:10] camera gives the description of a

[38:12] suspected shoplifter coming out of the

[38:14] store. That's him there. And he's being

[38:16] confronted by store security.

[38:18] >> They're now if security apparently is

[38:21] with him.

[38:22] >> If you look closely, you can see he

[38:23] appears to have stuffed merchandise in

[38:25] his shirt and pants.

[38:27] Security tries convincing him to give it

[38:28] up.

[38:29] >> Hey, for info he's walking away from

[38:31] security,

[38:34] >> but the suspect isn't listening to them.

[38:36] He's busy on the cell phone, perhaps

[38:38] calling for a getaway car.

[38:40] >> 87, I will advise.

[38:42] >> Security is keeping a safe distance

[38:43] because they know police are already

[38:45] aware of this thief.

[38:47] Remember, the voice you hear is a police

[38:49] dispatcher who's manning the

[38:50] surveillance camera. These pictures are

[38:52] wired directly to the police department,

[38:55] and officers are already on the way. But

[38:58] the suspect lingers, oblivious to the

[39:00] cameras and his merchandise.

[39:02] Evidence against him is dropping out.

[39:04] That's a tennis shoe falling to the

[39:06] ground.

[39:07] >> Copying.

[39:10] >> Hey Jason, just for further he's walking

[39:12] all around the front area and a shoe did

[39:14] fall out of the front of his pants.

[39:18] >> Finally, he goes to pick up the shoe,

[39:19] but his sticky fingers aren't working so

[39:21] well in the parking lot.

[39:30] With no getaway car in sight, the

[39:32] suspect makes a run for it. But cameras

[39:34] follow.

[39:35] >> 87, he's running away through the

[39:36] parking lot, heading down towards Home

[39:39] Express direction.

[39:41] >> There are 19 cameras tracking this

[39:43] shopping center.

[39:44] >> 87, he's still running in front of Home

[39:47] Express. Now,

[39:49] >> from store to store, the suspect flees,

[39:51] unaware he's being watched.

[39:53] >> 87, right now, he's in front of

[39:55] Palestras

[40:00] trace his every move. 87 for info. He's

[40:03] now heading to the rear of Orchard

[40:05] Supply.

[40:09] >> With nowhere left to go, the suspect

[40:11] tries ducking out of sight.

[40:23] >> 264. I'm 97 in the area and I'm going to

[40:25] be headed towards the back of Orchard.

[40:29] He's on the retaining wall right behind

[40:31] Orchard by the pickup area. He's

[40:33] climbing up the retaining wall,

[40:35] >> but police are there waiting for him

[40:36] over the wall thanks to the cameras.

[40:39] >> Looks like he's got him and he's walking

[40:41] along behind the retaining wall and we

[40:43] just lost sight of him.

[40:44] >> The young man spent 40 days in jail.

[40:46] He's on probation for a year. John,

[40:48] >> sounds like he deserved it. What do you

[40:49] got for tomorrow, Smoking Man?

[40:51] >> Tomorrow, the drug dealer who makes his

[40:53] own poison in his very own meth lab.

[40:56] The villain records his clandestine

[40:58] activity and lives to regret it. John,

[41:04] >> very interesting, Smoky Man. Thanks

[41:06] again. Well, now here's a look at what's

[41:08] up next. Still ahead, they call this a

[41:12] sport. It looks brutal. An inside look

[41:15] at what's called total fighting.

[41:19] Later, he takes his bike out for a spin.

[41:24] Home video of the guy who's really got a

[41:27] mouthful.

[41:29] Plus, look, ma, no hands. If it's caught

[41:32] on tape, you'll see it on real TV.

[41:38] >> Look, Marian, it's those snobs. The

[41:39] Henderson.

[41:40] >> How are you? We just vacationed in

[41:42] Aspen. That's nice. We called all our

[41:45] grandkids this morning.

[41:46] >> And you can still afford Prime Rib old

[41:48] boy.

[41:48] >> Actually, we're buying extra because of

[41:50] all the money we saved by using 1010

[41:52] 321. We save 50% on calls over 10

[41:54] minutes, don't we, Tom Town?

[41:56] >> How quite?

[41:56] >> Oh, frankly, we never look at prices.

[41:58] >> Well, we do. And with 1010 321, we saved

[42:01] $20 last month.

[42:03] >> Ciao. Did

[42:04] >> you get that number?

[42:05] >> 1010 321.

[42:09] >> We Italians, we love, we love life, but

[42:13] most of all, we love pasta. Our number

[42:16] one favorite, pasta. Barila.

[42:18] >> See, bila. Ordinary pasta can stick and

[42:22] clump, but imported pasta varil is

[42:24] always perfect.

[42:27] >> Always

[42:27] >> authentil.

[42:34] >> The number one love of Italians.

[42:37] >> Very, very good.

[42:38] >> Here's how the people of Coin 6 News are

[42:40] making a difference. This week, we

[42:42] showed you how a ship demolition

[43:26] you had BP gasoline.

[43:28] BP is specially formulated to keep your

[43:31] engine clean for optimal performance.

[43:33] After all, he who hesitates is lost. BP,

[43:37] we keep you moving.

[43:43] GO

[43:48] DOWN.

[44:17] Welcome back. Imagine an organized fight

[44:19] where there are no rules, every hit is

[44:21] legal, and getting out alive is a matter

[44:23] of luck. Would that be a fair fight?

[44:26] It's called total fighting. But as

[44:28] you're about to see, it's not so much a

[44:30] sport as a big brawl. whilst in the

[44:33] standing position. They are allowed to

[44:35] strike with the open palm to the head.

[44:38] It's called total fighting.

[44:43] The latest ring sport to hit Europe. But

[44:46] it's a lot more than hitting.

[44:51] As the name implies, almost anything

[44:54] goes.

[45:03] So, he's really forcing the head back

[45:05] there. He's allowed to do that.

[45:06] >> Two 5minute rounds of freestyle

[45:09] violence.

[45:09] >> Here he goes. Here he goes.

[45:11] >> We're not talking about professional

[45:12] wrestling. This stuff hurts even on

[45:14] camera.

[45:15] >> There goes the choke.

[45:17] >> That looks barbaric to anyone who's

[45:19] accustomed to see control boxing in the

[45:22] United States.

[45:24] Jose Torres is the former light

[45:26] heavyweight champion of the world.

[45:29] He's seen a lot of tough fights in a lot

[45:31] of rings, but when we showed him this

[45:33] tape, he had only one reaction. Total

[45:36] fighting is totally insane.

[45:39] >> This one could be dangerous because of

[45:40] the because of the attitude of the

[45:43] fighters and and the fact that they are

[45:46] not restricted. They can do whatever

[45:48] they want to do. Total fighting is a

[45:50] brutal combination of kung fu,

[45:52] wrestling, kickboxing, and karate.

[45:55] >> He's gone for the leg block.

[45:56] >> That means there's all sorts of ways to

[45:58] win.

[45:58] >> Definitely a wing strike,

[46:02] >> like punching your opponent in the head

[46:04] while he's down.

[46:04] >> I think he's being warmed hitting in the

[46:06] back of the head there. He's got to try

[46:08] and get round to the side of the head.

[46:09] But um I would be Yeah, he's whacking

[46:12] him in the air there. He's got some

[46:14] cannons going into his head,

[46:16] >> but he doesn't see

[46:17] >> it's been over.

[46:20] >> Putting him in a headlock until he

[46:22] submits.

[46:22] >> He stopped him

[46:25] >> or in this frightening bout loses

[46:28] consciousness.

[46:32] The tide of a fight can turn on a dime.

[46:35] This fighter is in trouble against the

[46:36] ropes, but moments later, a single

[46:39] devastating kick wins him the fight.

[46:44] Doctors and oxygen tanks are in

[46:46] plentiful supply at ringside. And this

[46:48] fighter was brought back to his senses.

[46:50] >> Two.

[46:52] So far, no one has been killed or

[46:55] seriously injured in a Total Fighting

[46:57] match, but that might only be a matter

[47:00] of time.

[47:02] Looks brutal to me. Now, total fighting

[47:04] is a new phenomena in England, but

[49:46] Carl's Jr. Western Steak Sandwich can be

[49:49] cruel and unusual punishment.

[49:52] >> Got to eat some food.

[49:54] >> Well, this man is taking a dive and

[49:56] taking his bicycle with him. But there's

[49:58] going to be trouble before he reaches

[50:00] the ground. And we've got the tape as it

[50:02] happens. Mark Lickley's bike gets

[50:05] thrashed and you're along for the ride.

[50:09] The destructive adventure begins in

[50:10] Davis, California.

[50:13] From several angles, helmet cams focus

[50:15] in as Mark prepares to jump out of this

[50:17] plane while riding his brand new bike.

[50:25] All eyes are on Mark as he heads toward

[50:27] Earth.

[50:30] But suddenly, Mark and his bike begin

[50:32] spinning uncontrollably. He must let go.

[50:37] Now it's problem time. In all the chaos,

[50:40] Mark didn't have a chance to pull the

[50:41] bicycle shoot. His bike is going down

[50:45] solo.

[50:50] The situation is out of Mark's hands. He

[50:52] can only hope his shoot lands him safely

[50:55] back on the ground.

[50:59] Luckily for everyone, the bike or what's

[51:02] left of it dropped down in an open

[51:04] field.

[51:04] >> This is what happens when a bike hits

[51:06] the ground at 100 milesPH.

[51:08] >> After a joy ride like that, you'd think

[51:10] Mark would call it quits.

[51:12] >> Box time, baby.

[51:13] >> Think again. Just a week later, Mark's

[51:16] back up in the air. This time over

[51:18] Monterey Bay, California.

[51:20] And now he's in a wild new position.

[51:24] Mark is tucked inside that box, prepared

[51:27] to be tossed out like yesterday's trash.

[51:37] Remember, Mark has no idea where he's

[51:39] headed. He can't see.

[51:43] Not only does Mark have it tough,

[51:45] cameraman John McKe must keep his

[51:47] distance to avoid an aerial collision.

[51:51] But at 120 mph, that's no easy task.

[51:56] Finally, he's out and he's headed down.

[52:00] Where the box goes, nobody knows and

[52:02] nobody cares.

[52:05] I'm sure it had a better landing than

[52:06] the bicycle. Well, here's what's coming

[52:08] up on the next Real TV.

[52:10] >> Don't even think of missing Real TV

[52:12] tomorrow, where you won't see what it's

[52:16] you. Plus the street brawl that goes on

[52:18] all day long and the guy who's a little

[52:20] over the top. Always amazing. Real TV

[52:23] tomorrow.

[52:25] >> Well, the next two people you're about

[52:27] to meet have earned their spot on Real

[52:29] TV. Both use their own techniques and

[52:32] each left us astonished.

[52:35] Would you like to earn a little extra

[52:36] money in your spare time collecting

[52:38] barbetts?

[52:41] Or perhaps you yearn to become a legend

[52:44] on Fraternity Row.

[52:46] If so, take a lesson from Mr. Hein,

[52:48] China's premier chugalug.

[52:53] >> Mr. Lynn, seen here in this videotape

[52:55] from a Chinese TV show, has taken the

[52:57] art of chugging to new heights.

[53:03] Think how much you could win by betting

[53:05] you could chug two glasses of beer at

[53:07] once. Boiler makers yet.

[53:18] But those winnings would be chicken

[53:19] feet.

[53:21] You could probably retire on your I'll

[53:23] bet I can drink four glasses at once

[53:26] winnings.

[53:28] Watch as Mr. He builds a four tier beer

[53:31] fountain.

[53:38] Is this amazing or what?

[53:45] Once you master the art of positioning

[53:47] the glasses, Mr. He tells us the

[53:49] drinking part is easy.

[53:53] It's the standing on your feet after

[53:55] four boiler makers part that's tough.

[54:03] Next, we travel halfway around the world

[54:04] from the bruise of China to the fruits

[54:06] of Russia. The man stuffing the peach in

[54:09] his mouth is about to make the peach

[54:11] disappear. Pit and all.

[54:16] This home video comes to us from Russia.

[54:17] It was on an outrageous television show

[54:19] called Slavo.

[54:22] Slavo in English means beat that. And he

[54:25] does with this apple.

[54:33] Entertainment doesn't get much better

[54:35] than this. But the judges at Slavo

[54:37] didn't see it that way and Ivan

[54:39] eventually lost. The good news is when

[54:42] you make it on real TV, you're always a

[54:45] winner.

[54:48] >> And with him, there's no leftovers.

[54:50] Well, we've got one more special tape to

[54:52] roll for you. It's today's Real TV quiz.

[54:56] >> The 1951 movie Rubar was about a cat who

[54:59] inherits a baseball team.

[55:00] >> I don't know about this luck business.

[55:02] One of these baseball players was such a

[55:03] minor character that he wasn't even

[55:05] given a credit in the movie and he had

[55:07] just one line.

[55:08] >> Wait a minute. Rubarb will be at the

[55:11] game tomorrow, won't he, Eric? Of

[55:12] course. That's where the luck comes in.
