[24:43] prison it's not the best situation but

[24:45] it's going better and the chief Butler

[24:48] should have gone to pharaoh and talked

[24:50] about Joseph but he

[24:53] forgot so another let

[24:59] him down he's been his brothers have

[25:01] sold him into slavery he's been falsely

[33:36] forgetting to do what they said they

[33:37] were going to do and through it all we

[33:41] get to chapter 45 and he's still talking

[33:43] about but

[33:45] God how can you do that well when other

[33:49] people do you wrong don't forget God

[33:53] it's very easy to blow up other people's

[33:57] sins

[33:58] and magnify it instead of remembering

[34:04] God don't forget God God can take other

[34:09] sin and make a marvelous message letter

[34:12] B tonight his grace is more than

[34:18] enough his grace is more than enough

[34:24] Joseph never forgot

[34:26] God the Bible says the Lord was with him

[34:47] brought before pharaoh to interpret a

[36:05] bitter forgiveness is a

[36:08] choice bitterness is the alternative now

[36:12] if anybody had any right not to forgive

[42:39] blood he held in his hands evidence that

[42:50] years God didn't tell him any

[43:00] God but for years Jacob held in his

[43:03] hands a bloody coat in fact if you

[43:06] look in chapter 45 the very last verse

[43:13] 28 Israel said that's Jacob Israel said

[43:17] it is enough Joseph my son is yet alive

[43:22] I will go and see him before I die

[43:28] God putting Joseph in the palace allowed

[43:31] Joseph to send a message back to his

[43:35] dad and God worked in his life to let

[43:38] him know Joseph is alive all those years

[43:44] Jacob said Joseph's gone Rachel's gone

[43:47] Joseph's gone and in fact he talks to

[43:50] the brothers and he says now you want to

[43:52] take

[43:53] Benjamin he fought against that he felt

[43:57] for years that he held evidence that

[43:59] Joseph was dead that wound didn't heal

[44:02] over

[44:03] time it hung

[44:06] around time does not heal all wounds but

[44:09] time in the medication of God's word

[44:11] will help all wounds to heal but listen

[44:15] listen when a wound heals many times

[44:17] there's still a

[44:20] scar I use it in counseling all the time

[44:25] on my finger here there there's a scar

[44:28] from when I was in Bible College working

[44:30] at United engines trucking company in

[44:32] the shop maintenance moving one of the

[44:35] 50-gallon barrels that we used for trash

[44:38] and had cut resistant gloves

[44:42] supposedly grabbed that Barrel by the

[44:44] ring that we had beaten down and

[44:46] smoothed all out and guess what there

[44:47] was a metal tab there it cut through the

[44:49] cut resistant gloves cut my finger open

[44:52] and I had to go to the doctor I had to

[44:55] leave work fingers all hanging and

[44:59] bleeding got to get it all cleaned up

[45:01] there's a spot here on my hand from when

[45:04] I was playing with my brother as a

[45:06] teenager and I can see the dots from the

[45:09] Stitches that were

[45:11] there you know what happens most days of

[45:13] my life I don't think about that Scar

[45:16] from United engines I don't think about

[45:18] that Scar from playing with my brother I

[45:21] don't think about it it doesn't affect

[45:22] my day-to-day life it doesn't have

[45:24] anything to do with anything

[45:27] till I look at it and I give it

[45:31] attention and when I give attention to

[45:34] the scar it reminds me of the trauma it

[45:37] reminds me of the hurt it reminds me of

[45:40] the day it reminds me how I felt it

[45:44] reminds me how I responded and guess

[45:46] what all of a sudden my mind goes back

[45:49] to a place that starts to listen affect

[45:53] me because I let it affect

[45:59] but if I don't pay attention to the

[46:02] scar I don't think about

[46:04] it I led the choir the whole time with

[46:07] my hands didn't think about the scars

[46:10] one

[46:11] time I started this message grabbing a

[46:14] Bible and opening it up and flipping

[46:16] through the pages with this finger and

[46:18] with this part of my hand and I never

[46:20] thought about it once never affected it

[46:22] one

[46:24] bit but just now when I looked at the

[46:27] scar and started thinking about that day

[46:30] and rubbed my finger over the dots and

[46:32] remember that day my mind travels back

[46:35] to that moment listen to me people are

[46:37] going to do you wrong and you're going

[46:39] to get wounded and you're going to

[46:40] choose to forgive and time's going to go

[46:42] by but listen if you're not careful

[46:44] scars will remind

[46:47] you of things that have happened and if

[46:50] you're not careful you will choose to

[46:55] relive pain Agony and Trauma that God

[46:59] never intended for you to

[47:02] relive now we lie people lie they say

[47:07] forgive and

[47:09] what where's that

[47:13] at God forgives us and then he removes

[47:17] our sins as far as the East is from the

[47:19] West let me help you

[47:22] God forgives and he chooses not to

[47:30] remember you and I need to forgive and

[47:34] choose not to

[47:38] remember Stars pop up oh I remember

[47:42] can't go there got to keep our eyes on

[47:50] him time doesn't heal all

[47:52] wounds Joseph teaches us don't forget

[48:23] need and more than anybody else was

[48:26] getting he showed some love to them sent

[48:29] them back to get his father he trusted

[48:34] them when they had failed him in the

[48:36] past Joseph blessed his

[48:41] brothers how can you do that to somebody

[48:43] who's done you

[48:45] wrong Romans 12 talks about that if

[48:49] thine enemy hunger feed him if he thirst

[48:51] give and drink for in so doing Thou

[48:52] shalt heat coals of fire on his head

[48:57] the end of that chapter verse 21 says be

[48:59] not overcome of evil but overcome evil

[49:02] with

[49:05] good Joseph accomplished this of

[49:10] blessing his

[49:13] brothers how' he do

[49:16] that how did Joseph not forget

[49:20] God how did Joseph choose to

[49:24] forgive how did Joseph blessed them that

[49:27] had done him

[49:29] wrong well we read it

[49:32] earlier over and over again the Lord was

[49:38] with him and he was with the Lord I

[49:43] wrote it this way Joseph was able to

[49:46] accomplish these three things because

[49:48] his relationship with God was

[49:52] right which helped him in his

[49:55] relationship with everyone

[50:01] else when do you not forgive you're not

[50:04] right with

[50:07] him when do you forget God you're not

[50:11] right with

[50:14] him when do you not bless those that

[50:16] have done you wrong when you're not

[50:18] right with

[50:20] him how can you do it stay right with

[50:25] God

[50:27] his relationship with God was right

[50:30] which helped him in his relationship

[50:33] with everyone

[50:38] else people will let you

[50:40] down 10 out of 10 people have a sin

[50:45] nature 10 out of 10 people have the

[50:48] capability to

[50:50] lie 10 out of 10 people have the

[50:53] capability to cause anger in your life

[50:57] 10 out of 10 people have the ability to

[51:00] let you down say that's right preacher

[51:04] all those people all those people have

[51:07] done me wrong all those people have the

[51:10] capabilities alive all those people all

[51:13] those people all those people but you

[51:16] forget you one of those

[51:22] people it's easy to look at everybody

[51:24] else's problems and not examine your own

[51:29] heart it's easy to blame everyone else

[51:32] for all the things they've done wrong

[51:34] when you don't examine the

[51:37] Lord so when one of the 10 out of 10

[51:40] people have done you wrong don't forget

[51:44] God have

[51:46] you have you forgotten

[51:49] him now we talked about his love this

[51:52] morning aren't you thankful for God's

[51:53] love

[51:57] it's real

[51:59] easy to get our eyes on those who have

[52:03] done

[52:04] wrong get our eyes off of

[52:09] him we get off of him and onto them then

[52:14] we quit looking at us to examine if our

[52:17] heart's right with

[52:20] him when you get outward focused and you

[52:24] keep score of all the times that people

[52:28] have let you down you can fill sheets of

[52:32] paper with all the times that other

[52:35] people have done you

[52:38] wrong but you might want to flip over

[52:40] that page and examine if you ever done

[52:46] someone

[52:48] wrong not me I'm a perfect

[52:53] person there's only one that was perfect

[52:58] not me I I am more compassionate to

[53:03] people not me preacher I don't like

[53:05] people so I don't say nothing to

[53:09] nobody so you offend

[53:12] them by choosing not to speak to

[53:17] them preacher I I listen I'm not keeping

[53:24] score if you're not careful you'll have

[53:27] a whole list of what everybody else did

[53:29] wrong to you a whole list of why you're

[53:32] justified in your

[53:34] feelings you need to choose to forgive

[53:37] well they didn't say they were sorry

[53:39] choose to

[53:40] forgive why why you choose to forgive

[53:43] for God and for you if you don't choose

[53:47] to forgive it's going to be a root of

[53:49] bitterness it's going to hang in there

[53:52] it's going to be a struggle listen if

[53:55] you don't choose to forgive give

[53:57] situations will happen that'll trigger

[53:59] the memory of how you felt in that scar

[54:03] moment you can feel just as angry and

[54:06] just as

[54:09] frustrated there are

[54:13] people that have been

[54:17] hurt by people sinful people do sinful

[54:20] things and hurt other

[54:23] people and some people that have been

[54:26] hurt

[54:27] have been hurt so deeply it is hard for

[54:31] them to choose

[54:35] forgiveness it's

[54:38] difficult that person doesn't deserve it

[54:41] you're probably

[54:42] right that person didn't admit that they

[54:45] were wrong you're probably

[54:48] right but you're not forgiving them for

[54:52] them you're forgiving them for him which

[54:56] helped

[54:56] you in

[54:59] return

[55:01] choose forgiveness because if we're not

[55:04] careful that root of bitterness will

[55:05] spring

[55:08] up I can't see them but

[55:13] evidently after three spinal surgeries

[55:15] there's some railroad tracks on my back

[55:18] from all the Staples that were stapled

[55:21] in there I think the last time it was

[55:24] what 79

[55:26] Staples they took

[55:28] out that's a lot of

[55:32] Staples when I was in the hospital I

[55:34] asked my wife hey take a picture of the

[55:36] Staples on my back so I can see it I

[55:38] didn't like the

[55:41] picture because she couldn't get it in

[55:43] one picture she had to take multiple

[55:45] ones there were so many of

[55:49] them I can feel the

[55:53] hurt I know the pain that came

[55:57] I know the hardware that's in there from

[55:59] the first one that

[56:02] hinders me rotating and

[56:06] twisting it's no fun having to barrel

[56:08] roll in order to roll in your bed you

[56:11] have to move your whole body like a

[56:14] barrel it's uncomfortable getting out of

[56:17] a chair sliding into when you have to

[56:19] completely roll your whole body in order

[56:21] to do

[56:24] that I being able to swing a baseball

[56:28] bat or swing a golf club or do some of

[56:32] those things but when you can only go

[56:34] this

[56:35] far really hard to swing a baseball bat

[56:38] when you can only go this

[56:42] far and I could get

[56:46] upset and I could

[56:48] choose to be

[56:53] frustrated but I didn't forget God

[56:58] I didn't know

[57:02] why the hospital s us home without me

[57:06] being able to stand I don't know why it

[57:09] was a failure on their

[57:13] part I remember the feelings when the

[57:17] phone call came that said you're going

[57:19] to have to have another

[57:22] surgery I'm thankful though it's a butt

[57:26] moment when the surgeon said to me it's

[57:29] more than I can do so I'm going to refer

[57:31] you to someone

[57:34] else that's not normal in the medical

[57:37] field when they think I can get a big

[57:40] paycheck if I take this

[57:43] surgery they passed on someone else

[57:46] little did I know that the doctor they

[57:48] passed me on to was the

[57:51] dock in the four state area for spinal

[57:54] surgery

[57:56] I didn't know

[57:57] that I never met the man in fact uh only

[58:02] time he saw me was in the hospital bed

[58:05] and on the surgery table until about two

[58:08] weeks ago I had a follow-up visit with

[58:12] his office and he was

[58:14] there and I got to see

[58:17] him and I got to talk with him and then

[58:20] I got to stand up look him in the eyes

[58:24] and see the look on his face that here I

[58:26] was standing and not in severe pain and

[58:30] all of those things that's a only God

[58:32] can do

[58:37] thing but life

[58:39] situations and people doing you wrong

[58:42] and life doing you wrong don't

[58:46] forget

[58:49] God God wanted Joseph in the palace so

[58:55] God allowed the hard moments to get him

[59:02] there hard moments in life our heart

[59:09] moments in life you can choose to harden

[59:15] your heart towards God and others or let

[59:18] God do a work to grow you through hard

[59:23] moments hard moments are hard

[59:27] moments but you and I won't make it

[59:30] through if our relationship with him's

[59:33] not

[59:34] right because it helps us in our

[59:36] relationship with everyone

[59:39] else people will fail you people will

[59:42] let you

[59:43] down people will do you wrong and some

[59:46] of you tonight sitting in the room

[59:49] watching on the Liv stream you've got

[59:51] page after page after page of people and

[59:55] situations in your life that are hard

[59:59] and

[60:02] difficult so Pastor we weep with those

[60:05] that weep and we Rejoice with those that

[60:07] Rejoice there's sorrow that comes into

[60:10] my heart for those whose stories I know

[60:13] of hurts and traumas that they have

[60:15] faced in their life and the times when

[60:18] other people have let them down there's

[60:21] three things you must do to move forward

[60:24] in your life don't for forget God choose

[60:27] to forgive and then bless those that

[60:29] have done you

[60:31] wrong you can do it with God's

[60:36] help sinful people will do sinful things

[60:39] and hurt other

[60:41] people if you know that you've hurt

[60:44] someone you ought to did it

[60:48] right but if that person won't do it and

[60:51] won't get right guess what you should do

[60:54] choose to forgive them anyway

[60:59] Christ helps us to forgive others to let

[61:04] his love flow through us to choose

[61:08] forgiveness if you're still breathing

[61:10] it's not over yet you're still breathing

[61:14] it's not over yet there is still hope to

[61:17] make amends to choose

[61:20] forgiveness preacher the person's dead

[61:23] they're

[61:24] gone How can I ask him for forgiveness

[61:27] you can't times

[61:29] up but you can ask God to forgive you

[61:33] for hurting that

[61:37] person

[61:39] preacher I've got some bitterness

[61:43] toward my dead

[61:46] relative how do I deal with it you ask

[61:48] God for help you choose

[61:53] forgiveness you choose forgiveness

[61:58] say but preacher you don't understand

[61:59] how bad they were to me preacher you

[62:02] don't understand how awful things they

[62:05] did to me you're probably

[62:08] right I don't

[62:11] understand but I know a god whose Grace

[62:15] is more than

[62:18] enough whose Mercy is more than

[62:22] enough and he can help heal you time

[62:27] doesn't heal all wounds but time and the

[62:30] medication of God's word and his Spirit

[62:32] working in us can help all wounds to

[62:35] heal but you may still have a

[62:37] scar and if you have a scar choose not

[62:42] to

[62:44] remember if there are people or phrases

[62:47] or things that trigger a response in you

[62:50] that causes anger and wrath and Malice

[62:53] and clamor and evil speaking and

[62:55] bitterness and hatred and variance and

[62:58] strife from such were to put it

[63:01] away put it away put it away choose not

[63:06] to

[63:08] remember when people or life do you

[63:11] wrong don't forget God's at

[63:16] work in

[63:19] Oklahoma you can walk outside during the

[63:22] month of May

[63:24] especially and you can see dark clouds

[63:34] neighborhood so you go out and you watch

[63:40] streets over are in their storm shelters

[63:52] when the freight train sound of a

[63:54] tornado is coming coming the darkness

[63:57] and the torrential downpour of rain you

[64:01] can only see the darkness you can only

[64:04] see the storm but if your perspective

[64:07] changed the sun was still shining on the

[64:11] side you can't always see what God is
