[0:08] >> This is the CBS Evening News. Susan
[0:10] Spencer reporting. Good evening. In
[0:13] Panama tonight, still no sign of deposed
[0:15] President Devalier and no sign that his
[0:18] efforts to oust Panameanian strongman
[0:20] Noriega are having much success. In a
[0:22] newspaper interview today, Noriega
[0:24] charged that the CIA is working to
[0:26] install a puppet regime in Panama.
[0:29] Richard Roth has more.
[0:31] >> Panama is at rest, says its military
[0:33] chief. Calm and tranquil in an interview
[0:35] today with CBS News 60 Minutes
[0:37] correspondent Mike Wallace. Army
[0:39] commander Manuel Noriega accused the US
[0:42] of seeking to impose American law on
[0:44] Panama. Under Panameania law, he said
[0:47] Eric Aruro Delbay is an ex-president,
[0:50] adding he's with the Americans with the
[0:52] American ambassador. The embassy here
[0:54] wouldn't comment. So, with government
[0:56] troops still watching his home and
[0:58] relatives beginning to pack up his
[1:00] possessions, Delva's whereabouts were
[1:02] unconfirmed. He's protected by a good
[1:04] Panameanian family, according to an aid.
[1:07] I'm going to stick it out, the deposed
[1:09] president said in a phone call to a
[1:10] reporter. Let the world know that I'm in
[1:13] Panama, that I'm not leaving. Some
[1:15] members of his family had taken refuge
[1:17] at the home of the US ambassador, though
[1:19] a spokesman for General Noriega tried to
[1:22] make it all sound like unnecessary
[1:24] melodrama. He has committed no crime and
[1:27] he is a free citizen. He was never under
[1:29] arrest and there is no judiciary action
[1:33] against him. He's he can go back to his
[1:35] house and his private business.
[1:36] >> But
