[0:01] Now to CBS.
[0:05] >> This is the CBS Evening News. Dan Rattle
[0:08] reporting. Good evening. Another
[0:10] American has been taken hostage in
[0:11] Lebanon. Gunman in the violent southern
[0:14] part of the country today ambushed and
[0:16] kidnapped a US Marine officer.
[0:18] Lieutenant Colonel William Higgins was
[0:19] the leader of a UN observer team. He

[0:59] all about it.
[1:00] >> Earlier this month, two other UN
[1:02] soldiers, a Swede and a Norwegian,
[1:04] disappeared in southern Lebanon, and no
[1:06] one yet knows who kidnapped them or why.
[1:08] Lebanon has become so dangerous to
[1:10] Americans that the State Department
[1:11] issued a ban on travel there. But still,
[1:14] 16 American military men are assigned to
[1:16] this UN headquarters in southern
[1:18] Lebanon.
[1:19] >> Has there ever been any question about
[1:20] Americans participating? and so because
[1:23] it might be dangerous.
[1:25] >> These people are
