[0:16] schaer in New York with an update on the
[0:18] election of the Pope good day we have
[0:20] some smoke Rising again from the cine
[0:24] Chapel at this point we do not know for
[0:26] sure what color it is whether it's white
[0:29] meaning a pope has been elected or black
[0:32] meaning they are not there yet uh we are
[0:35] not hearing any bills at this point the
[0:38] audio signal we have been told that the
[0:40] Cardinals will use when they have chosen
[0:43] the pope they'll ring some Bells so we
[0:45] won't make any mistakes uh on what color
[0:49] uh we have what color this smoke is
[0:51] coming out of the uh uh the Little Smoke
[0:54] Stack now our CBS News correspondent
[0:56] John Roberts is in Rome uh John what
[0:59] color does it appear to
[1:01] be well Bob I'm I'm just sort of
[1:03] coordinating here the color of the smoke
[1:06] along with the timing um it would seem
[1:08] to me as though they've only been able
[1:09] to take one vote this afternoon and
[1:12] typically they do not burn the ballots
[1:15] until after two ballots if there has not
[1:18] been an election of a pope the smoke has
[1:20] been going now for some 30 seconds and
[1:23] typically by this time it would have
[1:26] turned black uh I don't want to make any
[1:28] assumptions but at this point the smoke
[1:30] does appear to be white and there would
[1:32] not be reason for smoke to be coming out
[1:34] of that chimney if it was not a
[1:35] successful election for the pope until
[1:37] about an hour and 10 minutes from now uh
[1:40] Father Paul robish show has been
[1:42] standing by with me all afternoon and uh
[1:44] father what's your take on what we're
[1:46] seeing coming o
