[0:00] itic because of weak steering currents
[0:02] we could be looking at opilia out there
[0:04] off the Florida coastline for the next
[0:06] several days here is the satellite image
[0:09] from about 12 hours ago you can see the
[0:11] storm was getting better organized with
[0:13] a lot of this purple indicating the
[0:15] strongest thunderstorm activity near the
[0:17] center of the storm and look what has
[0:19] happened there is definitely a more
[0:20] excuse me symmetrical shape to this
[0:22] portion of the storm and the outflow or
[0:24] the cloud pattern is getting a bit
[0:26] better organized now the strongest
[0:27] convection or thunderstorm activity
[0:29] actually remains a little bit further
[0:31] north of the actual center of the storm
[0:33] but all signs indicate that opilia is
[0:36] going to continue to strengthen possibly
[0:38] to a hurricane in the next several days
[0:40] now we're going to show you what will
[0:41] appear to be a rather ambiguous forecast
[0:44] but here are our issues as far as
[0:46] putting the forecast together there will
[0:48] be a midlevel trough or jet stream dip
[0:51] digging down towards the Southeastern
[0:52] Coastline if we could get this thing to
[0:54] push a little bit further south it would
[0:56] be good it would steer it off the coast
[0:58] but it's not really going to play out
[1:00] that way at least in the short term we
[1:01] have very weak steering currents and
[1:03] that means that opilia could just kind
[1:05] of hang off the north Florida coastline
[1:07] from the next several days Meandering
[1:09] about and then potentially taking a turn
[1:11] off to the Northeast and possibly coming
[1:13] back towards the Florida coastline at
[1:16] some point in the future so
