[0:00] Just a few higher clouds here and there.

[0:03] That's the latest from the channel 2

[0:04] weather department. I'm Rob Marciano.

[0:06] Weather on the hour every hour right

[0:08] here on the power of two.

[0:17] On World News Tonight this Thursday,

[0:19] NATO admits it was an American pilot

[0:21] that bombed and killed civilians in

[0:23] Kosovo. We'll take a closer look at the

[0:25] pressure a pilot is under. The DNA sets

[0:28] two men free. They were convicted of

[0:30] murder. It took 12 years. And our

[0:33] regular report on cuttingedge

[0:34] technology. Tonight, the smarter

[0:36] appliances. The milk carton that tells

[0:38] you it is almost empty. The 21st century

[0:42] kitchen.

[0:49] From ABC News World Headquarters in New

[0:52] York, this is World News Tonight with

[0:55] Peter Jennings. Good evening. The NATO

[0:57] alliance admitted today that it was one

[0:59] of its own that mistakenly bombed ethnic

[1:01] Albanian civilians in Kosovo yesterday

[1:03] morning. No more blaming it on the

[1:05] Serbs. The Serbs have characterized NATO

[1:08] as being on a campaign against

[1:09] civilians. The government in Yugoslavia

[1:11] says that 75 civilians died yesterday

[1:14] and that there was more than one

[1:15] incident. The US and its NATO partners

[1:19] are trying to keep the public focused on

[1:21] the overall mission. Our first report is

[1:23] from John McGuffy who's at the Pentagon.

[1:27] The planes were F-16 jet fighters, two

[1:30] of them patrolling the southern part of

[1:32] Kosovo. From their cockpits at 15,000

[1:34] ft, they reported seeing villages on

[1:37] fire and refugees choking the roads.

[1:40] They flew in and out of low clouds and

[1:42] officials say anti-aircraft fire was at

[1:45] times intense
