[0:00] good morning bible bible de church and

[0:03] today is thursday and it's time for our

[0:06] word of encouragement i want to thank

[0:10] you for taking the time to stop by and

[0:12] watch our video today hope you're having

[0:14] a wonderful Thursday and looking forward

[0:16] to seeing you very soon on Sunday in the

[0:20] church

[0:21] and looking forward to great driving

[0:23] service on Sunday morning and then in

[0:26] the church house on Sunday night and so

[0:29] excited about today we're continuing in

[0:31] our series in Philemon and looking

[0:33] forward to wrapping that up later on

[0:36] this week

[0:37] today we're in verses 14 through 19 and

[0:40] the Bible says this but without thy mind

[0:42] this is Paul talking to Philemon but

[0:45] without thy mind would I do nothing this

[0:47] is dealing with onesimus that thy

[0:50] benefit should not be as it were of

[0:52] necessity but willingly for perhaps he

[0:56] that's onesimus therefore departed for a

[0:59] season that thou should has received him

[1:01] forever not now as a servant but above a

[1:05] servant a brother beloved especially to

[1:08] me but how much more unto thee both in

[1:12] the flesh and in the Lord if thou count

[1:15] me therefore a partner receive him as

[1:17] myself if he hath wronged thee or OA

[1:20] thee or put it that on mine account I

[1:24] Paul have written it with mine own hand

[1:26] I will repay it I'll be it I do not say

[1:31] to thee how thou owest unto me even

[1:34] though nownself

[1:35] besides Philemon here is receiving a

[1:39] letter from the Apostle Paul to deal

[1:41] with his relationship with Onesimus

[1:45] Onesimus has been said during the

[1:48] ministry of Paul while Paul's been in

[1:50] prison and Paolo has found that he needs

[1:53] to send and onesimus back to restore a

[1:56] relationship when you've wronged

[1:59] somebody the best thing to do is to go

[2:01] to that person and make it right amen

[2:03] that's not always easy it's not always

[2:05] easy to receive people that have done us

[2:09] wrong so Philemon shows us in this

[2:12] portion of script

[2:13] some truths that I believe can be a

[2:15] blessing and a help to our lives how to

[2:17] receive someone who's done us wrong and

[2:21] that the person who has done wrong needs

[2:23] to have the courage to come to that

[2:26] person onesimus delivered the letter

[2:28] can you imagine Onesimus coming back to

[2:32] Philemon not knowing how he's gonna

[2:34] respond not knowing how he's going to

[2:36] handle the situation and he comes and

[2:39] delivers to him this letter from the

[2:40] Apostle Paul now it's a little bit

[2:42] different this time because last time

[2:44] Onesimus saw Philemon he was doing it in

[2:48] his flesh now he's got the Spirit of the

[2:51] Lord to guide in the Spirit of Truth to

[2:54] lead him and so we find on Esopus comes

[2:57] to Paul from Paul to Philemon and

[2:59] Philemon has already heard from Paul

[3:02] about his faith in his love for the

[3:04] Brethren how he's been refreshing a

[3:06] refreshing to the Brethren Paul has laid

[3:10] out this situation before him Paul's

[3:13] told him how illness of us has been

[3:15] profitable unto him how he's been a help

[3:17] to the ministry for him and now he

[3:20] addresses Philemon and says Philemon

[3:22] here here's this guy but I want to

[3:25] remind you of something finally minute

[3:26] it's different now he's become a

[3:29] brethren he's no longer a servant no

[3:31] longer slaves become a brethren he's a

[3:33] child of God he's left you for a little

[3:37] while to come back now right with God

[3:41] and in our relationship sometimes we

[3:44] don't understand why people do what they

[3:45] do if I knew I why people do what they

[3:49] do I could be a very effective person in

[3:52] life but we can't understand people just

[3:55] people are people sometimes people do

[3:58] very strange things but our

[4:01] responsibility as a Christian is to

[4:03] offer forgiveness and grace I know

[4:06] sometimes we say well they didn't say

[4:08] they're sorry they didn't ask for my

[4:11] forgiveness and so I'm bitter I'm

[4:15] frustrated I'm angry I'm upset because

[4:19] they didn't do their part aren't you

[4:23] glad and forgiveness from God is

[4:26] inconditional he forgives us and offers

[4:32] us grace and he doesn't withhold that

[4:35] from us I mean think about it this

[4:37] morning someone does you wrong they

[4:40] don't ask for forgiveness but you Harbor

[4:42] bitterness one writer once said about

[4:44] bitterness it's the poison that we drink

[4:46] ourselves hoping to hurt the other

[4:48] person it doesn't work the Bible talks

[4:52] about being careful lest a root of

[4:54] bitterness spring up in your life how

[4:57] quickly bitterness can enter your heart

[4:59] I have a feeling this morning there's

[5:02] somebody watching this video today that

[5:05] you struggle with bitterness and

[5:06] unforgiveness there been people in your

[5:10] life that have hurt you there been

[5:12] people in your life that have done you

[5:13] wrong and it's overwhelming you maybe it

[5:19] was a parent maybe it was a spouse maybe

[5:23] it was a family member maybe it was a

[5:26] friend who did you wrong and it hurt you

[5:34] let me show you some truth today from

[5:37] Philemon it's life when God steps into

[5:41] the situation God can mend fences change

[5:48] people's lives and help now you may say

[5:53] preacher it's easy for Philemon to

[5:56] receive Onesimus he's been saved the

[5:58] person in my life they're not saved they

[6:00] they're a sinful wicked person how could

[6:03] I forgive them how would it be possible

[6:08] to forgive someone who's done so much

[6:12] wickedness whose heart is not right

[6:18] who maybe had deceit and their doings

[6:24] how could you forgive that person

[6:28] think about Christ and how he forgave

[6:32] you

[6:33] Romans 5:8 says but God commendeth his

[6:36] love toward us and that while we were

[6:38] yet good people Christ died for us is

[6:41] that where that verse says no my friend

[6:43] it says God commendeth his love toward

[6:45] us and that while we were yet sinners

[6:49] Christ died for us this morning

[6:53] onesimus is received by Philemon because

[6:57] Philemon's hearts right it's really hard

[7:01] to forgive somebody when your hearts not

[7:03] right with the Lord but when your heart

[7:07] is right with God he gives us the grace

[7:10] Bible says he giveth more grace to

[7:15] forgive don't Harbor bitterness in your

[7:19] life don't drink the poison of

[7:21] bitterness hoping to get back at the

[7:24] other person this morning you cannot be

[7:28] the Christian that God wants you to be

[7:31] and Harbor bitterness unforgiving spirit

[7:35] in your life you must you must make your

[7:39] right today that may mean you got to

[7:44] make a phone call you got to talk to

[7:46] somebody you got to reveal the hurt in

[7:52] your life today make your right

[7:56] Christians sometimes are the best people

[7:59] at stepping on the hurting we look at

[8:07] them and we see that they failed we see

[8:09] that they're down and sometimes we kick

[8:11] them while they're down we all not to be

[8:14] the Bible says we've been given the

[8:15] Ministry of reconciliation reconciling

[8:19] people back to God but also as a pastor

[8:22] I believe I have a god-given calling to

[8:27] help people reconcile their

[8:29] relationships with other people and

[8:31] bring themselves back to where God wants

[8:34] them to be

[8:36] Philemon and Onesimus it was a strained

[8:39] relationship much time had gone by but

[8:45] yet through the power of God a

[8:49] relationship is restored forgiveness is

[8:52] offered grace and mercy of God is

[8:57] revealed when God's people do what God

[9:03] would have them to do take courage today

[9:07] with God it's possible to forgive with

[9:13] God it's possible to destroy the

[9:16] bitterness that's in your life as you

[9:20] can tell today's not one of those

[9:22] jumping up and down very excitable days

[9:26] but it is very truthful and very needful

[9:30] for the day do not Harbor bitterness in

[9:33] your life do not have an unforgiving

[9:36] spirit yes sinful people do sinful

[9:41] things and hurt other people but God

[9:44] giveth more grace God forgave you you

[9:52] and I need to forgive one another may we

[9:57] learn from the life of Philemon and may

[10:00] we forgive those who do us wrong god

[10:05] bless you today thank you for tuning in

[10:07] to the word of encouragement we'll see

[10:10] you next time let me pray with you there

[10:14] Heavenly Father Lord we thank you for

[10:17] this time together what I pray for those

[10:21] that may watch this video today that

[10:24] have some hurt some bitterness some

[10:27] unforgiving 'no sin their heart lord

[10:30] help them to remember you and how you

[10:33] forgave them help us today to show your

[10:37] grace and love to those around us in

[10:40] your wonderful name I pray amen

[10:43] god bless you thanks for tuning into the

[10:47] word of encouragement and have

[10:49] first day
