[0:02] it's

[0:37] [Applause]

[0:54] Mr

[0:56] chairman Mr Speaker

[1:00] fellow

[1:01] delegates and fellow

[1:05] Americans I've come to this platform

[1:08] tonight to place in

[1:10] nomination for the office of President

[1:13] of the United States the name of Senator

[1:16] Eugene J McCarthy of Minnesota

[1:35] [Applause]

[1:56] I do not speak for myself alone

[2:00] but for millions of Americans who

[2:02] believe this man has brought New Hope

[2:05] and New options to

[2:07] America we're in the midst of what can

[2:10] only be called a revolution in our

[2:12] domestic affairs and in our foreign

[2:15] policy as well and as the late President

[2:18] Kennedy once said those who would make

[2:21] peaceful Revolution impossible make

[2:24] violent revolution inevitable

[2:31] in this time of unprecedented crisis the

[2:34] nomination for the presidency is more

[2:37] than the selection of an able and a

[2:39] qualified individual for the office we

[2:42] must have bold leadership willing to

[2:45] undertake the basic changes in our

[2:48] political system that are so necessary

[2:51] to its

[2:52] survival we must seek a leader who can

[2:56] arrest the polarization in our society

[2:59] the AL alienation of the blacks from the

[3:01] whites the halves from the hav kns and

[3:05] the old from The Young we must choose a

[3:08] man with the wisdom and the courage to

[3:10] change the direction of our foreign

[3:12] policy before it commits us for an

[3:15] eternity to a maze of foreign

[3:18] involvements without clear purpose or

[3:21] moral

[3:23] justification but most of all the man we

[3:26] nominate must embody the aspirations of

[3:30] all those who seek to lift mankind to

[3:33] its Highest

[3:34] Potential he must have that rare

[3:38] intangible quality that can lift up our

[3:41] hearts and cleans
